Manchester United Thread

Another thing.

Nobody here mentioned Fellaini. I read in the Belgian press that Van Gaal has praised him...it seems he played a good match against WBA.

Well Van Gaal could be seen speaking to Fellaini prior to him coming on in the second half. He scored and had a good 10min spell but that was about it.

The whole team looked off tho so not gonna get on his case too much.

Scored a wonder goal and seemed a threat the further he played forward, his contribution certainly lessens the further back he plays.

Being an 'Option' behind the CF is probably his best bet to salvage a career here, is he happy with that though.

I think he always wanted to play as DM but fact is he's been played upfront for many seasons now I think he's more accustomed to that and feels lost playing as DM whenever he did.

Yes, hè always considered himself a dm. But even in our national team hè is not first choice anymore.
For his OWN sake, hè should have stayed with Everton. I

He is not the player he was two seasons ago. Both United and Fellaini himself got worse from that transfer.

Hopefully Di Maria and Herrera are both fit for Chelsea. Also nice gesture from LvG to let Valdes train with us.

Excited about today, love the big games at Old Trafford. If we play to our attacking potential we'll create and score some today.

Hopefully we don't concede too many :ANX:

Excited as well. For me, every game is a big game as 1 point could be the difference between a championship or relegation.

Played really well again for stretches but you can tell we dont connect as well as Chelski. Di Maria was God awful today but at least was involved in the imo very deserved equalizer.

I'm sure Gerd would appreciate this: thought it was a bit of a master class from the Belgians on the pitch. Hazard was dangerous as ever, Fellaini looked ten times the player he's been for United before, Januzaj looked better, though is still trying to be a showboating pony a bit too much now and then, Courtois was brilliant blocking the abundance of shots on goals against Chelsea.

Speaking of Courtois..I think both him and DDG showed why they are two of the top goalies in *gasp* the world now. Never knew this by the way but just saw De Gea used a common trick by raising his hand on the opposite side of where he'll dive to make the player (Hazard in this case) think he ll go that way:

I haven't seen the match at all.
If it's true what dplane writes, then I'm especially glad for Fellaini.
IMO he has had the bad luck to be associatied with Moyes, hence the reason why he never will be a favourite of the U,item fans.
It seems this affected him more than one would expect.

Luis calls RVP shirt-off celebration as stupid! I think RVP needed to get emotional ...It was in the dying seconds to equalize the match. Some are say Mutd are celebrating a draw...I think the matter of the draw makes the differences.

It'll do wonders for the mentality.

It's funny to see John Terry moaning (what's new...) about being "double-headlocked" at corners. No-one mentioned the amount of times his team does it, including against us. Serves them right for trying to waste time straight after scoring.

Looking forward to seeing the new & improved Fellaini take on Toure on Sunday as well.

Again, I'm afraid that our weak little defense will collapse against City. Hope this isn't the case and we can win. Anyone know on any updates with Falcao and Rooney?

Newcastle did ok with their weak little defence

Our defense looks just as shit at the moment. Half of the back 6 are in for one game out for another. There's no continuity and there's no excuse for it considering it's not down to injury.

Always thought that your central defense (and gk) is not top class.
I'm talking about City here.

Well.. A wounded animal is a dangerous animal so I don't take much expectation out of City's slump. With both our defenses this could end up being a goal fest.

P.s. Goku: sounds like Rooney will be set to play.

chatting to my blue pal last night post game, he cant put his finger on whats going wrong, wrong in the sense of its mcfc second title defense and they dont seem up for it, I feel with the investment and resources at the clubs disposal they should be dominating, any United supporter knows its harder to keep it than it is to win it, Arsenal couldnt do it either so I dont think city should be walking it mind.

We were a laughing stock last season, at this stage we were 8 points off 1st in The Prem, had 9 points in the champs league, still in the league cup...

compared to city's season so far........

I'm of the opinion that the current mcfc team is at the end of its cycle, still few quality players in there, of course, but not much in terms of young players or comp for the likes of Vinne, Yaya, Nasri and Hart for example. could be FFP cos there was so many top players available this summer and city didnt go for any of them. You know your stuff Godotelli, im interested on your thoughts.

It's Dzeko fault he'll add... Lampard behind Aquero is their best player. A change of scenery!

yeah they all call Dzeko yet hes got them so many important goals its untrue, okay Sergio he aint but he's probley available for more games than Sergio and in both of mcfc title winning seasons he's been a major factor...

Dzeko-The villain today , hero tomorrow comes to mind. Im starting to believe why Arsene rather buy attacking then defenders. It`s the one who scores the most wins. Stan Collymore been saying for a while that defending in the EPL is the most rubbish it`s ever been.

I've been watching Vidic/Rio they too lost the art of defending for their respected clubs.Mutd were spot on, releasing them.

I don't think Utd were a laughing stock yet tbf. Also, we started off worse last year, at least in the league. Not too bothered personally about the CC exit.

Imo, the issues are:
1. Complacency in some games
2. Manager making too many changes in defensive areas
3. Manager playing Fernando out of position
4. Nasri injury
5. Yaya's form/mindset
6. Dzeko returning to his normal shit form - he's not good enough for anything other than an impact sub imo. Only people who don't watch him regularly disagree with me.
7. Jovetic injury and no Negredo meaning we've been too reliant upon Aguero
8. Mangala's tough start.

Mangala will need time to get used to the pace of the prem. He was immense against Chelsea - a more european side - but has found the more hustle and bustle of teams like Hull and WHU difficult.

On the transfer front, I think the signings this summer were good. Mangala aside, however, they were all squad players. If you don't count Negredo (who is a starter over Dzeko imo), we have only made one 1st 11 signing in Fernandinho since we brought in Aguero -Kun being the last 'marque' signing also.
FFP will definitely have had an impact. I think we'd have gone in for/signed one of Fabregas, Di Maria, Falcao, Sanchez if not for FFP.
I expect from now on we'll be looking at signing 1 or 2 big players a year+. We don't need any more squad players. Talk of Reus, Barkley, Pogba

Anyway, a derby is the perfect game to restart our season. If we are as complacent against Utd as we have been lately then I will start to worry.
