Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It's a 3 game ban but he had a suspended 2-game ban that's been invoked too.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I know, which is also interesting as theyre technically different offences. Also note that the new FA chairman is the ex-City head.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It's a joke of course, but nothing you can do about it.

It's all up to the players now. It always was actually. And I don't doubt a second SAF will find a way to give instructions to his staff.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

But how're we gonna invoke "Fergie Time" from the stands?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

News coming through that Rio is not going to play again this season. If that's true, I surrender the league now. Vida can't play every match and Brown/ Evans are not good enough.

Bugger. So our captain will have played about 10 matches for us this year. Wonderful.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Just need to keep Vidic fit for the big games I guess, though some would argue every game is big at this end of the season.

I wonder if we'll be adding an experienced centre-back to our shopping list next season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Will you have any money next season? I'm sure I read on here (from Ryan I think) that the Glazers haven't put any money in for years?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He still think Rio is the captain...Smalling has been wonderful this season imo

Urgh, yes, had a brain lapse this morning. Obviously Rio t'aint captain no more.

Smalling has only been good when paired with Rio or Vida. He was part of the 4-0 debacle at West Ham, for example. He has potential, but understandably needs a leader next to him.

Vida is hardly injuryproof and regularly misses matches in the run in - so we're gonna be fielding Evans/ Brown at least a few times alongside Smalling. That's a terrifying thought against someone like Arsenal or Chelsea.

Since the Glazers have come in we've spent net of c. £3.5m per season - putting us just between Everton and West Brom. That's 5 years of not investing the money we've earned.

Until I see it happen, I won't believe we'll spend big this summer - even though it's clear we need to.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

:DD

no Rio is huge blow but Smalling and Vidic seems a great combo and have been very good when having their backs against the walls.

Regarding money in the Summer, we'll get a keeper and maybe midfielder to but not sure what type.

Maybe SAF thinks Rooney deeper is the way forward with Hernandez clearly showing enough (will improve) upfront.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

after reading about robbo yesterday i started to get a bit nostalgic.

found this vid on youtube (hope it embeds properly)

as united fans, we are so lucky to have seen these 2 give us their best years. just a shame robbo didn't have the same quality of players around him that keano had otherwise their medal counts would've been comparible. imagine both of them at their peak and in the same team, scary.

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3iAPawmHfRk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

get well soon robbo!

edit - obviously i'm an I.T. retard, no idea how to embed youtube clips correctly

Just read about that, Hopefully he can make a speedy recovery. From what I've heard he's probably the best midfielder and captain we've probably had.

Hard to compare due to the quality of their respective team mates but It's a toss up between him and keano.

In my eyes I'd give the slightest of edges to keane.

Again, only in my opinion but keane is the 2nd greatest united player of my lifetime, slightly ahead of cantona and only behind ronaldo

1115: Inter Milan v Schalke 04
1114: Barcelona v Shakhtar Donetsk
1114: CHELSEA v MAN UTD
1113: Real Madrid v TOTTENHAM

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

2nd leg at Old Trafford, definite bonus. Hopefully they won't completely overpower us this time.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Great, so now we have to face them another 3 more times this season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Meh, I don't like playing English sides.

Saying that (within reason) it's a great draw. avoided Barcelona as their on the other side of the draw.

I think Chelsea being able to rest their players before the tie's will be a boost to them though.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

At least we won't get Atkinson... or can we? :D

In all honesty, I kind of wished we were drawn with Madrid. We haven't faced them in a while.
