Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm sure if you check through the Arsenal thread for posts from five years ago that there were at least twice as much of your fans regularly contributing to that thread around that time. ;)

you can`t compare to the gooners I was in my 20`s last time we won  sumthing. I`ve been since July 05 can`t speak for those before I mean some 6 years back  Clockender n joystick still pops up time from time . You know exactly what I mean too ! Winning trophies year after year then 1 empty season its mayhem I only know Runedge n metallica from back then though they were happy to win the carling cup imo proved to see they had no plastic in them . At the time we thought Mutd would never win again and thought the battle would be btw Chels n Arsenal and those lads had hope and saw the carling cup as the beginning of the MUTD dominance. I`m not saying the rest of you lots are plastic . Having so much success sort of brings others into the mix. If any get offended then the guilt lies within :SMUG:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

In a way it would be good for us to not win anything this year. It would get rid of the plastic / prawn sarnie brigade for a start (though quite a few have jumped to Chelsea over the last 5 years). There should also be a ban on those that thought the league started in 92, and don't get me started on the twat United fans who think it's okay to call us 'Man U'...

Saying that, the last time we didn't win the league for a few years we won it back & made the CL final.

And even though I live 'daan saaf' I'd still travel 550 miles every other week even if we dropped a division...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well, it depends `92 was a long time ago. `91 I do remember the brawl btw Mutd n Arsenal (at OT)that turn my attention to them a bit Arsenal imo was the NWA of England straight out of Highbury. I was 17 I lived for the moment and thought SerieA was a league of it`s own. Football has changed so much from those days. Not sure if plastic thrive in those days like you see now.

Like you can see in the states a few Mexicans wearing their Mexico NT kit while carrying the USA `s one. Then, again ppl can do what they like I bet those are the sort that DC while playing FIFA

I seriously doubt MUTD will lose the plastic fans being the richest club sport-wise in the World , NO City has the richest owners. You know there are ppl who think Cole n York are still there only because giggs is I would call those fans on pause lol.

Well, plastic fan that I am, have set up the ole recliner all nice and comfy for the latest pre-season friendly. I love these matches. Don't really know why. Will report back thoughts if anything interesting happens...

cmon I wasn`t having a dig maybe a sensitive subject . MUTD plays friendly and over 50k show up in attendance with no Rooney I have to admit that`s impressive. I don`t think anyone in here are glory hunters . I think you lots in here are class & abou too!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Good to know Bebo :))

Poor showing tonight, Its an wierd system we've tried playing and I think its down to trying to get Berbatov in the big games. Something along the lines of -

----Gibson-Scholes-Giggs--
Nani------Berbatov-------
----------Diouf---------

Didn't seem to work anyway. So far on the tour Obertan has impressed me along with Welbeck, I think both of these could play a part this season but I think the latter will be loaned out.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well...that was terrible. Combination of a few things I fear, but mostly that we were absolutely horrendously sh*t at passing the ball 10 feet. Truly shocking how bad the first half was. Darren Gibson was so bad in that one match that I no longer believe there is any chance he'll make it. If you wrote a guide book of how to not play in central midfield, you would just write about that performance. Caught in possession is his own third, passing nowhere, no tempo, not giving Scholes an outlet....woeful.

And when you're essentially playing with 1 central midfielder who is 35...you're never going to be very good.

Anyway, it's just preseason and all that, but it's very hard to take any positives whatsoever from that match :(

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Agreed, he was utterlly woeful. At least he use the long season and world cup as an excuse, oh wait...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Gibson really shouldn't be used in a 2 man midfield, but he has potential to be a Lampard "light" sitting infront off 2 and basically shooting from range. (Him V Bayern basically)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It's concerning that the two youngsters who have impressed the most so far in pre-season, Welbeck and Cleverley, are the two who we're planning to loan out.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Fergie has decision to make

Also, seen a few stories on Defour being linked to us lately, wonder if there is any truth in the rumours.

Think we were linked with him last year too?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I don't see where that's come from cos we don't need to make room for anyone in the squad. Anderson was still 21 on 1st January 2010 so doesn't need to be registered anyway I think? Same with Jonny Evans who was 22 on the 2nd January!

That leaves the squad looking like this:
1 Edwin Van der Sar
2 Gary Neville
3 Patrice Evra
4 Owen Hargreaves
5 Rio Ferdinand
6 Wes Brown
7 Michael Owen

8 Oliveira Anderson ?????????
9 Dimitar Berbatov
10 Wayne Rooney
11 Ryan Giggs
13 Ji-Sung Park
14 Javier Hernandez
15 Nemanja Vidic
16 Michael Carrick
17 Luis Nani
18 Paul Scholes

19 Danny Welbeck
20 Fabio Da Silva
21 Rafael Da Silva
22 John O'Shea

23 Jonathan Evans ??????????????
24 Darren Fletcher
25 Antonio Valencia

26 Gabriel Obertan
27 Federico Macheda
28 Darron Gibson
29 Tomasz Kuszczak
30 Ritchie De Laet

31 Corry Evans
32 Mame Diouf

33 Sam Hewson
37 Craig Cathcart
41 Joshua King
42 Magnus Eikrem
Ben Amos
Tom Cleverley

Unless I've got my rules and DOB's mixed up that's only 23 players who need to be registered leaving us room for 2 more ON TOP of what we've got. Unless Fergie plans on registering 2 players who don't need to be or I've got something wrong I don't see where the problem is, it could be the press twisting his words?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Oh also Gill's reiterated that we have cash monies to spend $$$$$$$$ and the rumours about Özil are still about as he only has a year to go on his contract and could be available for £10-15m!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah and Spurs are after Scott Parker for 15mil... (allegedly) what a world...

On another note, Rafael is in the next Brazil squad, poor Fabio.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

On another note...Bremen has apparently allowed Mesut Ozil to leave the club for a mere $12 million pounds!

We would be dumb not to have made a bid for him, especially now when David Gill has annouced that Sir Alex has money to grill!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Congratz to Rafael on being selected to the Brasil squad, but i doubt he'd be able to feature especially when Maicon, Daniel Alves are already fighting for that spot.

Honestly, i thought Fabio would have a better chance since he plays on the left...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Ozil...yes please.

was spotted at the airport today (Manchester )a m8 of mine text me on the phone, not sure if its him he said His eyes ...his eyes it has to be him lol. He is not a football fan but he watch the WC and said it has to be him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Probably off to City, I hear they need more players to make up the 25.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I just have two questions, can Ozil play as a CMF alongside Fletcher, Carrick, Ando? or will we be using the 4-3-3 formation from now on?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Dont think he can play in centre mid if we play 4-4-2. He's likely to be used wide, off the forward (like Giggs sometimes plays) or as the more attacking of the 3 central midfielders in a 4-3-3.
