YUS!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Is that a tribute to Usain Bolt? Proud of the lad nonetheless with his goal to carry us through.Happy with the total lineup change against Wolves, proves that our squad has real depth.I didnt get to watch the match though but read the match reports and believed that Tomaz Kuzzy was MOTM?

A highlight clip would be great!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Just seen the goal on YouTube. The boy showed some real pace to get on the end of that ball from Owen. Nice.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Bloody awful game to watch, not much happened to take my mind off trekking up the North Stand and freezing my ill arse off.

But at least we won, and the goal was lovely to watch. Hats off to Wellbeck for the great finish.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Strange match. I actually found it really satisfying - seeing the youngsters push on for 60 minutes down a man and really look no worse off against a premiership side. It wasn't great football, but Wolves were there to defend, even when up a man (and against a bunch of nonames) so we were patient and carved out a few chances.

I tought Welbeck was kind of poor other than the goal. Macheda did absolutely nothing but look slow in his 30 minutes. Fabio is stupid, should have just let him go but I can understand the instincts.

Nani was our most dangerous player, but still looks a bit wasteful. Still, showed good spirit to just try and try again. And Owen showed great awareness and touch to play in Welbeck.

All in all it could have been worse. There aren't many quasi-reserve teams that would have done that well for 60 minutes down a man.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

That was a poor game but at least the goal's build up was wonderful. A bit sad that Macheda had to leave so early, I wanted to see more of him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

not the best game...

but as holders you never want to go out in the first game...

played well with 10 for second time this season...

and a well taken goal by Welbeck!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Putting the words Nani and good in the same sentence doesn't work.

He only had to keep trying again because he's so fucking rubbish.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Typical Nani performance, did everything else well except from when he let go of the ball.

That's harsh. I'm the first one to say he was bad last year but so far this season he's played quite good. His confidence has gotten better (probably because Ronaldo's gone). I just hope it'll stay this way even after a few run on the bench.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He has pace to burn, he blew Elikobi (I think?) off like he was Gary Neville, but he never actually seems to get past anyone, hence why he had to keep trying last night.

He just seems to keep the ball and run into the corner and then just kick it at the defenders and lose it.

He needs to learn a trick or two to fool a defender and then he'll be fine.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I dont think so, you've forgotten the fact he took a massive reduction in wages to sign for us!

And yes leaving a side who were relegated to play for the team who just won the league (who are also the World Champions ;)) ) is furthering Michael Owen's career and yes it will also allow him to play football at a high level... but how can you apply that to Tevez leaving us to play for a side not even in European competition?

a massive reduction from pre-relegation wages, yes. He was never going to keep his wage level at newcastle in the championship was he?

Because City will be in Europe? They have shown ambition. There's such a thing as futhering you career and being part of a challenge that is more exciting sometimes then being plopped straight into a team that should win everything in sight.

If Tevez helps fire City into the CL, they could effectively create another Chelsea. A club on the up in all senses of the word. As much as I dislike Everton, I could see why a player might want to join them, I'd rather Owen joined them then you lot!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Poor argument this. Comparing Tevez and Owen is stupid. Just do it terms of what it means:

Football: Tevez goes from team in the last two European championships to won that isn't even in Europe. Goes from being a third choice striker in a 442 to arguably a second choice striker in a 433.
Owen goes from Newcastle to United. Not much argument there.

Personal: Tevez claims to feel unloved by the coach at United, fair enough, I can see leaving for that reason.
Owen had an amazing offer and he took it.

Financial: Tevez is making shedloads by moving. But to be fair to him I don't think that's what he's about. His advisors will be happy though.
Owen could definitely have made more money by going somewhere else.

You can understand someone wanting to join Everton, but could you understand someone leaving Liverpool to join Everton?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Ronnie continues to show us respect. give it 5-10 years and he'll be regarded as a United legend.

I love United
Cristiano Ronaldo still watches every Manchester United game on TV and has backed Nani to fill the void left by his Old Trafford exit. Ronaldo revealed his affection for United, despite leaving for a world record £80milion fee in the summer after six years at Old Trafford. "Every time I can I try to watch United's games on television," said Ronaldo. "I still like to know what's happening at Old Trafford. And despite now being at Real, I'm always happy when I know United have won. I've also seen that Nani is playing much more than he was last season. That's good for him and he will benefit from that. Now he has more opportunities to play, he will be able to show the fans just how a great player he is."

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

To be regarded as a "legend", he'll need to come back to us at some point and pick up where he left off.

I like him but I'll never have the same affection for him that I have for guys like Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Ole, Cantona etc, players who came here and had that special bond with the club, whereas Ronnie's dream was always to go to Real, so in his heart, Madrid will always be above United in terms of his affection, unless he has a horrible time at the Bernabau and sees the light.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

To me, players like Giggs, Scholes, Gary, etc are like the pillars that hold up this great club. Seeing one of them leave would hurt us more than anything else IMO.
Ronaldo on the other hand was more like a student who grew up here. Its kinda like watching your kids being raised and then watching them finally move out on their own to start their own life. Its gonna happen sooner or later and you hate to see them leave but it had to be done. Which is why I personally wish him all the best and honestly do get a lot of joy out of seeing him do well at Madrid. I remember reading a story in the papers about how even after the deal was finalised with Madrid and was officially a Madrid player, he flew back to England to have one final meeting with Sir Alex so he can personally say goodbye. He might not play for us anymore but he'll always remember where he came from.

I honestly think his move to Madrid was more like his "duty" rather than something he thought would be the best move for his career. You have to remember that Real were quite shit before they signed all these players. Even Liverpool hammered them in the CL so I doubt Ronaldo moved there because he thought it was some kind of huge step forward in his career. I personally think he moved there because it was his late father's wish for him to play for the team, his idol Figo played for them, his family would prefer to live in Spain, and cuz he felt it was his destiny to one day play for them. I'm sure one if he wins everything there, he'll feel his jobs done and will want to come back.
But the point I'm making is that I think Madrid might be more "important" to him but he probably "loves" United more.

I don't think it'll work like that. Most people's opinions change over time and the good times become more clear and the bad times (Real Madrid Saga) fade. The way Best left the club wasn't in the best light but me being a modern day fan didn't experience this as did many other fans I know but we all regard him as one of the clubs biggest legends purely for what he could do on a football pitch. I said 5 to 10 years for a reason and I think over time Ronaldo will be remembered as one of the clubs true greats.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think he is already is regarded as one of our legends.

Here's on our Legends page under All Time Top Scorers.

CLICK ME.

Rooney is in it too and at the rate that he is going,he is sure to overtake Ronaldo soon.

:WORSHIP:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Ronaldo will always be a legend to me. No doubt one of my favorite United player of all time.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I feel the term "legend" is bandied about far too much by fans these days.

I'd regard Ronaldo as more of an "icon" than a "legend" at this point in his career, and that's me being generous.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Good lord Stoke are dull. I realise the whole 'plucky' 'hard-working' underdogs, but they're fully parked. I'm kind of alright with that.

What I don't get is, why do they boo every United player? I mean, how can you boo Paul Scholes or John O'Shea? What have they ever done?

Tough game this. Terrible miss from Valencia. I've decided it's a battle between our wingers for the single stupidest player in the premiership.
