Carling Cup next. With the loss of players like Ronaldo and Tevez, is it worth risking big players for this competition or should we go back to fielding reserves and under 21s? I thought the teams we fielded last year were quite strong but we were a little unfortunate and *coughberbafuckedupcough*. But we dont have the luxury of doing that anymore IMO, especially since we cant kill off teams in the Premier League like we used to be able to.
This'll be the perfect stage for Owen to prove a point though. That last goal will have him on a high and with Berba missing some great chances (after all the great service from Giggs, one of his best games in a while IMO), I think if Owen gets a goal or two, he'll play a much bigger part in the next league tie.

I'm really hoping we play a 442 with our reserves, so they start to be able to slot right in:

Carrick and Nani in there to get a game, rest to see if they can cut it!
(that said, i think Fergie will use a mix of experience, with Owen, Nani, Valencia, Carrick and Rio to get a run out)

My 2 cents about the win against City.

You won but you never sustained the lead. If the match had more time i think you would end up letting them draw.

The problem at the moment is we don't have our first defense. There aren't many teams in world football that would play worse with only 2 fully fit members of their back 5.

With games under their belt, I still believe that:

Is one of the best back 5's in the world, defensively. I mean, who is better?

(and for the record, only conceeding 3 when you're playing O'Shea, Foster and a half-fit Rio seems pretty good to me, especially when you decide to give them 2 as a headstart)

Yes. He is not the sharpest tool in shed.

Regardless, I thought it was a bit tough on him yesterday. He didn't celebrate the goals, was friendly throughout and even tried to applaud the Stretty end. He was taken on a loop by his advisors, but is still the same hardworking lil Argentine (with limited ability) that we knew and loved.

I wouldn't boo him.

Thats a decent team, but cathcart has been loaned out and welbeck has spent alot of time away with england U19 so is abit behind the rest...

i'd like to see brown get some minutes,

also berba and owen (especially berba) need goals so either could figure..

I'm starting to think more and more that he's just being used a puppet by his advisors. I think his associates might have just fabricated most of those quotes about him criticising Fergie as a way of forcing him out of the club.

That Kia guy seems like a very shady character...

After the arsenal, spurs and a trip to turkey I thought a 4th win on the trot was abit too much to ask..

but I could'nt have asked for the way it turned out, it was too perfect...

utd legend returning as city manager with alot to prove...

the fact that the overpriced £25mill+ "cunty carlos" missed a sitter...

AND made a mistake in the build up to the winning goal...

and of course a goal scored at the stretford end by an ex-anfailed favourite brought to the club on a free to replace cunty...

i could'nt have made that up.

he was received well at west ham when he went back, he probably thought it would be the same here. in his eyes it was the club that wronged him, which makes sense if you put yourself in his shoes.

he didnt do anything wrong, he thought he deserved to play and didnt get the chance then got his contract talks stalled for someone better. i probably would have left too.

hmm you seemed to defend Owen's actions about moving to United to....get more money, further his career and play more football at a high level.

But yet when the shoe is on the other foot, Tevez is a cunt, even though he was applauding your fans, and your staff/players seem to genuinly like the guy.

How are those two the same? The same would be if Liverpool had also put an offer on the table for Owen and he chose us over you lot for the money, whilst saying "But I didnt move to Everton out of respect for my ties with Liverpool".

i dont have a problem with him, naturally moving straight to city sort of pissed me off at first but when you look at it hes gotta think about himself and his family.

sir alex saw him as a second string player, tevez see himself as a starter and was insulted by it. that along with his contract talks i can understand him wanting to leave.

Tevez was a cunt in the end, trying to turn the fans against SAF, being all sour about being in a squad yet he played only less than Vidic and someone else? Owen left a relegation side for the Champions.

the difference was vidic played in the champions league and tevez played in the carling cup or came off the bench. SAF wasnt wrong to do what he did, some people just arent happy to be second string.

It wasn't necessarily just because he went to City. Yes, it upset the majority as they are our rivals (similar to when Sol Campbell left Spurs for Arsenal, though that was more severe as he said he was moving abroad). Though Big Pete (Schmeichel) never had the same problem when he joined them as he left on good terms.

As a person I can't fault him for going to City. Money probably was a big factor, and if someone is willing to pay it, why not?

I don't think he realised (or was misguided) about how fierce the rivalry is, especially as they are now hoping (expected?) to break into the top 4.

The thing that turned me against him, and I think a lot of fellow Reds, is that after he'd left us there was a constant stream of stories in the media of him slating us. Even several weeks after he'd moved and the hype had settled, another story would come out to stir it up again.

If he'd just moved to City, then spoke out once on his disappointment at not staying with us, I don't think he'd have gotten the reception he did at OT...

In all seriousness, all of those people that argue one set of rules for United, one set for everyone else - do you actually have a single example of the FA not f*cking us over? Between Rio's ban, Roon/Scholes ban from Amsterdam, Evra's random 4 match ban and now saying that celebrating a 4-3 win is the same as hitting a fan - I just don't get it. How could you possbily think that?

A mate sent me this yesterday (coverage of the game from another country) - I thought it was just us at Old Trafford who went batshit crazy when Owen scored!

I dont think so, you've forgotten the fact he took a massive reduction in wages to sign for us! :LOL:

And yes leaving a side who were relegated to play for the team who just won the league (who are also the World Champions ;)) ) is furthering Michael Owen's career and yes it will also allow him to play football at a high level... but how can you apply that to Tevez leaving us to play for a side not even in European competition?

that could have been journalists sensationalizing his comments and taking them out of context. i know half a dozen articles that took snippits that made him look like shit from an interview where i could empathize with him read in its entirety.

i dont believe anything i read like that, half the time they're old interviews anyways that are just convenient to bring up because theres similar stories going around.

Is that a tribute to Usain Bolt? Proud of the lad nonetheless with his goal to carry us through.Happy with the total lineup change against Wolves,proves that our squad has real depth.I didnt get to watch the match though but read the match reports and believed that Tomaz Kuzzy was MOTM?

Just seen the goal on YouTube. The boy showed some real pace to get on the end of that ball from Owen. Nice.
