Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah Rooney's shooting was bad but he was still one of our better players that night which says something!

Team news, Vidic is expected to return and Valencia is due to start as he was only a sub on Wednesday. I'd imagine Fletcher will to as he missed out and he's key for us.

I dunno what's happening with Nani... he wasn't even on the bench against Burnley after taking another knock on his shoulder in the match against Brum, but he's not been listed as injured by any of the news outlets.

I expect a tight game, not many goals but hopefully we'll sneak it.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Vida and Gaz will be back for us.I'd imagine Sir Alex sticking Fletcher and Carrick back into centre midfield today with Nani and Valencia on the wings.Rooney and Berba upfront from the start.

It will be another tough away game for us.The critics have their guns lined up and aim at us for this one.

I will not hope for too much but a scrappy 1 goal victory for us would suffice.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

If we lose this, we wont hear the end of the it from the media.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

5-0 great 2nd half performance

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Everything happened for us in the second half.Thats the emphatic response we all are looking for.Settled us nicely now for Arsenal at OT next weekend.

Really pleased for Berba to get off the mark but more delighted for Owen to get that ugly monkey off his back.

Its a typical finish for both forwards.Owen didnt even broke his stride for his goal and Berba showed great awareness and control for volley that ball in.

A big plus point was our clean sheet as well. The steel is back at the back with Vida and Gaz now fit for the oncoming games.

Good times ahead. :BOP:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Foster made a few world class saves too, looked solid today

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The energy Fletcher provides in midfield is amazing, Im not sure if it will be quite good enough against top teams all the time but you cant knock him when hes playing like he did today, Id definatly say he is United best CM. Going into half time at 0-0 was really frustrating after not seeing some good chances not put away. Berbatov's ball to Nani and lay off to Scholes were world class in the first half.

I was expecting another huff and puff second half but that didnt happen! Rooney has came on heaps and bounds in the air and you wont see a much finer header. Berbatovs touch over the GK was class, Owens goal was just typical Owen great finish. To top it all off it will give Nani a boost when his free kick went in, it wasnt the best free kick but at least it went in!

Im really looking forward to the Arsenal game now next week, 2 words for it mouth and watering!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Carrick>>>>Fletcher

Fletcher is a lot of huff and puff, but Carrick's pure class. I would have thought you guys rated him very highly.

Didn't see the game, but saw the goals. Owen's finish was very good, the little cunt.

Abhi -

Carrick is great but sometimes he goes missing a bit, he's undoubtebly more talented than Fletch but more often than not, when Fletcher doesn't play, we dont do so well. His energy, positioning, pressing and intercepting is in a different class and he is a VERY important player for us now.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

good to see you lots scoring was afraid after the lost this thread was abandon  fuckin`el Utd losing ...evo-web will fall off the planet . Chels wins no one cares, pool wins they might need to change posting rules

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well I for one can't wait for MOTD now.

I couldn't be more pleased for all three forwards, they've all scored in the same game, and now hopefully they won't stop.

Bring on the Gunners.

Your comparing two different roles. Fletcher by the way is a lot more than "huff and puff" and was our best midfielder last year (including Mr Ronaldo). Carrick is our "Alonso" while Fletcher is our "Masch" both roles are important but the latter one probably more so to us since we only have 1 of those type of players as Hargreaves fell of the earth.

:DD Was a good performance, Rooney is fucking World Class! I hope he can carry this form for the remainder of the season. Berba's goal was just pure class. Owen's finish was top draw also.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Masch is probably better at what he does but Fletcher does a lot more for us than Mascherano does for Liverpool. More duties, if you wanna call it that.
But yeah, this is exactly what we needed going into the Arsenal game, especially since we need to gain from ground on them (even though its way to early to be caring about that).
Nice to see all the forwards getting a goal today. Rooney continues to score, Berba his thing like no one else can, and Owen showed us he's still got it with the finish he produced.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Today, huge rumours from numerous sites and spanish tabloid,Marca linking us with Arjen Robben.

Looks like the Dutch are running out like rats from a sinking ship at Real Madrid.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Hope not, he gets injured more times than Flintoff

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I could live with Robben though, cause on his day he's fantastic, and we've still got decentish wingers that we could play when he isn't available.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Robben would be great,Just aslong as he dont turn into sahagreaves.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Can anybody confirm how long would Gaby Obertan be out for? I rewatched videos of him on youtube and got a sneaky feeling that he will be the spark we needed to carry us thru much like a young Ronaldo back then.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

When he signed I think he was out for 3 months. According to PhysioRoom.com he's due back in October.

Is there any news on Hargreaves? I vaguely remember September as a return, but after the pre-season operations I guess that's changed...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeh I think Obertan will bring that "unpredictability". I doubt he'll play often though and as much as we wish him to be "Young Ronaldo" I doubt it. Will get a Carling Cup run and impact sub appearances.

Hargreaves as you say was expected to be back for September but again it seems to be unknown again :(( We can't rely on Fletcher to play in every game so we need Hargo back.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think teams have learnt to deal with the type of player that Obertan is/Ronaldo was, so it'll be a case of seeing if he can adapt and change his style to become as effective as possible. Ronaldo certainly did and look what happened.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Phrase you always post 'huge rumours' and they're never accurate  You're like The Sun ;)

I think this season will be a slow one for Obertan, a bit like how Tosic has been dealt with. Obviously with his injury he'll have more training to do before he can even think about getting in the team.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Ljajic on the other hand... :...

(expects to be ridiculed for years to come for my Ljajic prediction)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Speaking of Tosic what a waste of time and money he seems to be! I cant see him breaking into the first XI at all (please come back and bite me on the bum and turn into a decent left winger!)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It seems a long road for him definitely but he isn't as bad as some think. I think if we still had Ronaldo he'd have a much better chance to break into the team. He's similar to Park in workrate and general link up play but better going forward and a mean cross.

He had a good game for Serbia early in the month

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Jumbo...dont get me wrong...I took those rumours from various sites and post them here just for side information. Those werent my words,I'm no insider!

And your judgement is based on what? He's hardly had a chance so far.

Wow. He looked very impressive.

Exactly what i thought.

I said the exact same thing weeks ago, when every1 in this forum was criticising Nani for being bad and decent at best, turns out that now he is the best choice among ManUs roster.
The exact same thing will be applied to Tosic.

I said it once and i will say it again, its because of that attitude of yours of never letting some1s talent shine that you failed to see the likes of Pique, Rossi or even forlan, then.. every1 knows how much they are rated atm.

Give players play time and then come here criticise them, ok? Thnx.
