Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not sure how we won that to be honest, we weren't even that much better in the second half.

Berbatov should be shot for that miss near the end, a three year old would've tucked that away (at the very least Rooney or Owen would've surely made a better job of it).

Thankfully the game livened up in the second half because apart from Arshavin's goal there was nothing at all.

And Wenger at the end was just hilarious.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We were far from our best.

Berba and Nani should have wrapped up the game.

Foster should have done better with Arshavin's strike.

WTF was Diaby thinking?

Rooney was VERY lucky at the end, gave away possession and they scored an offside goal.

And Wenger , what was the point of sending him off?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

you should see the Idiots on the EA forums trying to prove Wazza dived, good game anyway

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

No way did Rooney dive, but it probably wasn't a penalty anyway. I think you should have to be able to reach the ball you've touched on - his was already in row z of the stretford end when the contact was made.

I'll take the win, but please God Fergie - if Nani or Berbatov were playing as poorly as Giggs they'd be hauled off at half time - but he managed to give away possession for almost the full 90. I really think Fergie has lost his ruthlessness when it comes to Giggsy. He hurt us today, and no one should be above the team. LEgend, but not when he's playing like that.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It WAS a penalty, because regardless of where the ball went when he touched it, the keeper still brought him down, and that'll be a foul anywhere else on the pitch, so why not in the box?

They're probably just pissed because the other blatant penalty wasn't given.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

fletch was real lucky the penalty wasnt given.what a crazy game..giggs had an awful game..kept giving the ball away.
we were really lucky to come away with 3 points, but oh well. wenger at the end cracked me up. :D

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not the best performance but the 3 points were gained

Rooney, Fletcher and Evra were amazing I thought, they all played really well. It still seems some players are still finding their feet and are still bedding into the new season.

Giggs!!!! Giggsy, Giggsy that was pretty shocking to be fair, his final pass was absolutely shite today, plus he looked a bit weak whenever he tried running with the ball.

But never mind 3 points is in the bag and the ending with Wenger was hilarious, top entertainment!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

true Giggs was shit but he set up both goals, If Nani had taken the free kick it would of been an outswinger and we wouldnt of scored mate

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah that's the funny thing and what SAF will justify his selection with but Giggs was terrible again, he's really in poor form at the moment.

Fletcher was immense. He has got to start as many games as possible. His workrate and drive is incredible. I also though only Fletch, Rooney and Evra were decent today.

3 points is a good though.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

though Carrick wasnt with it today either, i would of swapped him with ando

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Giggs has been awful again,
I was thinking the same thing during the first half. Then the second half comes and he produces a couple of moments of magic and saves the day. I really dont know if I should love him or hate him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

with god-knows-what on diaby's mind, we might have scored even then. it was a perfect header, really.
what baffles me is,he clearly headed it back towards his own goal, it was not as if it just deflected off his head. maybe he was trying to pass it back to almunia.
fletch was amazing today..he covered almost every blade of grass, but he gotta be careful in the box tho. it was a clear penalty..

Well moments of magic is a bit too nice to Giggsy!! The first was a great pass but Almunia should never have taken Wayne out and the second assist was a cross to an opposition players head

Some things that made me laugh

1. Fergie Time. 7, yes SEVEN fucking minutes and we didn't even need a goal! What was the ref playing at? I thought this only happened when we were losing or drawing?! That's what some Liverpool fans told me anyway. ;)

2. Eboue diving! How fucking stupid can someone be?!?!?! After everything that's happened this week he goes and does that!

3. Wenger getting sent off It was a bit harsh I thought, not to mention utterly pointless given 6 minutes of 'Fergie Time' had already been played. I was cracking up when he had went and stood in the middle with all our fans waving at him!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

To be fair, the last 3 minutes were "Wenger Time". He should have done a little dance while he was up there.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Wenger was quality, few managers would have handled that situation in such a humourous fashion as he did. :APPLAUD:

Nah cause Ando would've been just as bad.

I don't think it's a stretch to say I can't remember the last time either had a decent game.

Carricks problem is that he dwells on the ball for far too long, and then he produces a shit pass once he gets closed down.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm actually surprised Scholes didn't start, he had a good game against Wigan with Fletcher in the centre and besides, he probably wouldn't have done any worse than Carrick (who's in bad form) and Giggs (who seems to play better in a midfield two).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Scholes seems to do better against teams lower down the league where he has more time on the ball but like you say he was fantastic against Wigan and probably would have done better than Carrick today. He's very composed on the ball and could've helped us get a grip of the game.

Ps. I <3 Darren Fletcher.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Something else I didnt like was seeing Rooney alone upfront again. He just doesnt get enough of the ball when he's up there alone. As soon as Berba came on, he started dropping deep where you can clearly see he was enjoying the game a lot more.
As for Berba, he's just like Owen. Owen gets into great positions but cant score to save his life. Berba shows amazing skill and has impressed me with his will to get around the pitch a lot more (must be trying to prove the critics wrong) but again, his misses are letting him down.
If only we can get those two to start scoring as often as Rooney then we'll be on fire.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Owen cant score to save his life  Jesus thats rubbish! His record for club and country since he started at 16/17 is almost 1 in 2.

And Berba's miss was unlucky, it bobbled just before it came to him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Oh, and anyone else think Berba should have started?

Everytime he seems to get going, he's put back on the bench.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah I thought so, in place of Carrick, Giggs or one of the wingers. Some of SAF's selection decisions have been a bit strange lately.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Berbatov should definitely have started.

I really don't get why Fergie has to match up against Arsenal or the other two, it just doesn't bloody work.

We were happy playing 4-4-2 against Wigan (albeit in the second half), and we should stick to it. Having two up top would've given us the ability to keep the ball up there more often.

As it was, Rooney had very little of the ball and we had to rely on Giggs to get forward, who failed epically at doing so.

Also Valencia needs a lot of work before he's upto scratch, especially if we're gonna go 4-3-3, he was never anywhere near Rooney, playing way too far back.

I'm talking about as of right now, not in the past.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Did he actually fall there or was he trying to get the ball out of play?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He tried to intercept it. Arsenal got the thrown in though despite the fact Rooney didnt touch it

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

think he was trying to header the ball out mate
