Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.
Re: Nani - I think it's going to be a great year for him. Yes he makes some stupid decisions but it's not as bad as the reputation he's gotten. I struggle to think of 4 wingers in the league with more ability then him to beat a man and get in telling crosses. Plus, he's actually come out and said that he wants to help fill Ronaldo's boots, and that in of itself is a great sign. The right decisions, in important matches, is not something you can learn on the training ground. He'll get a chance to cut his teeth this year.
I'm excited about the prospect of us having a bit more fun again. Last season really felt a chore, partly because of all the transfer crap (Ronaldo, then Berba, then Tevez, then Ronaldo again, now Tevez again) partly because we had so many games and looked knackered for half of them and partly because we were against the dippers, so winning by any means possible was alright. Next year I conceed now that I don't think we'll take the league title. 4 years in a row is ridiculous. Chelsea should have some stability, and they still have the best first XI in the league, if Drogba is in the mood. Arsenal can't have as bad a season as last year and similarly I don't think Liverpool can have as good a rub with the red cards. So all 4 should be close together imo.
If we don't win the league next season, but start playing entertaining, team-style football again I'm alright with that. Even more so if we blood some of our youngsters properly. Welbeck, Nani and Anderson to some extent deserve the chance to really play regularly. I also think Berbatov will benefit from not being sacrificed to accomodate Ronaldo. Guess maybe it's stupid optimism, but I enjoyed watching us more in 06/07 then the last two years, even when I was sure Chelsea would come back and take the league, and we got hammered by Milan. Just a better feeling about the team.
