Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well thank the lord it has happened at the beginning of summer, not protracted to the end. I've said it before, we'll go on with out him. I do think he's been a wonderful player for the club, last summer aside, one of our true greats. He dreams of madrid, so fair enough, I wish him well. He's going to be absolutely unstoppable in la liga. I figure he'll be made a striker too...though i could be wrong.

Anyway, I'm annoyed we've been given the price. Now everyone will rip us off. Though, with Real outof the running for Ribery (one imagines) we'd be the only bidders. At least our hatred quota should dip a bit!

Next year = year of the Roon...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I don't think we'll go for Tevez. Ribery and a forward wether thats, Villa/Benzema/Aguero who knows...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not sure if Tevez will stay after him complaining of lack of games.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'd put money on Kia being likely to push up Tevez's price now the Ronny deal is out in the open.

Our best bet would be to secure new signings before he's officially sold. That way the price won't be inflated as much (hopefully).

Looking on the United forum, it's chock of people hoping we'll buy several 'stars' for £30-40 a piece. I don't think we'll go for Benzema, or Ribery (if it's true that Munich have upped his value).

Who would you guys like to see us go for? It doesn't have to be the huge names..

At first thought the players I can see (ok, would like to see) us going for would be:
David Villa (Valencia need the money) if we don't keep Tevez.
Lennon / A.Young - they'd certainly be cheaper than Ribery, and have EPL experience
Gamst Pedersen - I've always thought he'd do well with us. Also good for set pieces.

The papers seem to be doing the Valencia deal for us at the moment. Haven't seen enough of him really, but he seems over-priced at £17m...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Just a thought...

What if the Glazers want to use all the Ronaldo money to pay off some of the outstanding debt?

Not sure if anyone has thought about an empty shopping basket.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I won`t sell them a virus eh? Anyhow, Kaka in the middle and Ronaldo everywhere in a slower pace league...please Ronaldo is going to have an excellent year! Imagine all those shirts kaka N Ronaldo

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Huge, huge mistake IMO. There's not a player in the world (apart from Messi and Gerrard) who could be as effective as he was for you.

You won't spend the whole 80M, a reason why it's accepted would be to pay off the debt I'd think, which is good for you IMO.

Real will get Villa for sure, he's made it clear he'll only go to Liverpool outside Spain. Ribery, while one of the better wingers out there, isn't a patch on Ronaldo, in terms of winning games, and scoring goals (think Kuyt managed to outscore him this season). And I'm sure he won't cost less than 60M now, and Barcelona want him as well.

You could probably get Benzema, even if he is a bit of a cunt, and he'll score goals, but again, Aulas won't sell him for anything less than half of what you go from Ronaldo.

Fuck me, Real could be pretty good next season?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well I'd hope we'd be able to pry Sneijder away from Real, given he certainly isn't going to be a starter. And maybe Robben as well - great player if he can stay fit.

I think about half of the funds should go towards the debt. We need to pay it off at some point!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Ok, SAF now officially rates Ronaldo below virus status :P

You'll get by, but its not gonna be the same again... He made a difference for you lot. It looks as though only a guy like Ronaldo could bail you out from tight matches like that 2nd leg CL semi against Porto.

Now I wonder how Real Madrid's starting line-up will look like, with people like Huntelaar, Robben, Sneijder, Kaka, Ronaldo, Higuain, etc. all in the same team? Will it be a 2-3-5 formation?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

A virus is a bad thing so he would be doing them a favour by not selling one to them.
Anyway, different president, different rules. He didn't sell him to the last guy, just the new one.
Someone else will come forward now anyway. We survived after Cantona, Keane, Ruud, Phil Neville so I'm not too worried.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So after reading at the official MU website it said:

"At the request of Cristiano - who has again expressed his desire to leave - and after discussion with the player's representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player."

So after what he said about being happy at MU, he asked again to leave within days?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He said he was happy up until the Champions League final, then when we lost he said he wanted to leave.

Plus I think he's properly fallen out with Fergie after the final.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Anyways, it's sunk in that we won't have Ronnie next year, and that just gives me ideas.

Well, we need to go 4-4-2, play Berbatov right up top like he did at Spurs, and play Rooney behind him where he's clearly at his most effective. Finally play our front line with designated positions and not just a free for all.

If we could build the team around Rooney (assuming he's actually played in the correct position) then we'll be alright, Wazza is one of the best players in the world when played right and given responsibilities.

A winger or two would do nicely and that'll be that. Either that or actually push Nani and Tosic to become decent players. Though I bet with Ronaldo gone, Nani will be even shittier next season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The team will definitely be built around Rooney now.

I hope he steps up to the plate and delivers.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Just one question where the fuck is Madrid getting all this money from!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Madrid are a hugely corrupt club Sean.

The Madrid and Spanish government fund them through various methods, and they force their players to sign 50% image rights over to them once they sign, so that's a hell of a lot of money straight away.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The government probably.
I think Ronaldo decided against going to Madrid because they were shit this year but Kaka going has changed his mind because he thinks they might become a force. A couple of shit seasons and you'll see him crying to come back saying he never wanted to leave.
Personally hope he does okay, just not against us.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 At Abhi mentioning Gerrard along with Messi and Ron.

I think we'll sign a Winger and a CF, 1 being a "potential" player, the other being World Class. People are forgeting Ronaldo scored 26 last season and 42 the year before, We need to add more goals to the team.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Im sure I posted two months before the end of the season that Ronaldo's improved performances was because he wanted out. Glad I was right, you guys remember because instead of whinging and rolling about he would actually chase back and defend.

Anyway, think this is a good signing for the other 2,3 Big4 teams. Can't see you getting a player, or two, who can have the same impact as him. And also all the prices are going to be ridiculous now.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 at you being so stupid

Gerrard just isn't a player on that level. His best is Ronaldo and Messi just "Doing enough" He doesn't have the ability of the other two, if he didn't score 20 goals a season then the comparision would be laughed at. Torres on the other hand I could see where your coming from, if he gives you lot a memorable season while winning something.
