Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Manchester normally doesn't give much credit to their talents imo. No? ex: Pique and Rossi.
Macheda seems a bit over hyped, he won't be what every1 wants him to be.
Campbell, I hope he shows how wrong Sir Alex is for doing this to him, hope he plays well and evolves well and some years from now, ManU wants to buy him and he says no (except for a million contract, the kid will just say yes to everything lol).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think what we do is make players and then sell them on, they might not be Manchester United quality but good enough to evolve elsewhere, Rossi has been at Villareal for 2 seasons and has become a top quality player, We knew he could become that but he wanted first team football which we couldn't give him.

Forlan is another that didn't work out here but is now surely one of the best strikers in the world, Pique ditto. Campbell IMO isn't Manchester United quality but could easily make it at a top 6 club. Most our academy get spread across the league. Players like Gibson, Simpson, Campbell, Shawcross, Eagles etc.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The problem with United's youth setup is that players aren't able to develop fully without playing in the league week in week out, and United can't afford to blood them anymore. Our academy has produced a lot of very talented players who have gone on to have good careers, but such is the competition these days that we can't let them develop. I mean, Rossi has done very well at Villareal, but would he be nearly as good if we'd let him play 10 minutes at the end of matches for 2 years? No way.

It's annoying, but I don't see a resolution. Evans, maybe Gibson seem the only recent exceptions. I'd like to think Welbeck/Macheda will amount to United first XI quality, but I don't know tbh.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think Wellbeck looks a bit lazy to be honest. Could end up being around Heskey qualiy (at his peak) but no better.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 Fans eh? One of you underrates him completely and the other compares him to a modern day great :)) He's got the potential to make it as regular let alone a squad player, I think he's probably the most talented english player we've had in the academy since the 90's kids.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Haha I was half joking, although I do think he's got the potential to be very very good, like you said, definitely the best English player we've produced for a few years.

This goal is pure Henry though
YouTube - Welbeck 1 - 4 Derby v Man Utd FA Cup

The way he shapes his body to shoot is identical :WORSHIP:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Funny you said that. I remember thinking of Henry back when I first saw that goal too.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I can see Welbeck developing into a class player.

He has a lot more variety to his game than Macheda, as well as his versatility.

I'm excited to see how he'll turn out in the future.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Welbeck will be like Henry.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

But we got first option on his brother so everything's cool.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We'll see. Apparantly were after Valencia, Not a big fan of his if were spending 17M on him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah he seems a strange choice if I'm being honest. Fergie can't have much faith in Tosic, Nani, Park and so on if he wants Valencia. I may be wrong but isn't he totally right sided? Dont think I've seen him play left side anyway.

He's a good player already with a lot of potential but he's not really what I thought we needed?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I can see the logic behind it to be honest, Fergies clearly decided that with Ronaldo on one flank you need to balance that out on the other with more grit, We've used Park there so much for that reason but Park lacks the ability of Nani for example. Valencia is a sort of between the two, he's got grit in him to get track back and help out the defence like Park but just not as well while also he's a threat going forward. I personally think we should let Nani play on the left who IMO has much more potential.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Think Valencia would be a good signing for you guys. Probably means Ferguson might move Ronaldo up top. Think he's a far better player than Nani. And I've seen him play center mid as well.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I love how the video of Dodo is all aboiut his goals, despite him being a CB. Brazilians eh?

And Valencia is FAR, FAR, FAR, FAR better than Nani. Hell, I'm far better than Nani. I think he's got the ability to step up for us, and Fergie will know how to get the best out of him. Admittedly though, there's no way in hell I'd pay £17million for him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 That video isn't the Dodo were signing, Someone has just used a video of "Dido" a Striker.

I hope Ronaldo doesn't get converted into a CF, Looking at it hes much more dangerous with space and the ball at his feet to hurt teams. Berbatov has played the role before he came here and I hope thats what he's told do next season.

Agreed I think he's a better player than Nani at the moment but IMO Nani has a much more potential. Maybe Nani and Valencia would play if SAF does decide to play Ron uptop.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah I was gonna say that video is full of Botofogo clips and Dodo plays for Corinthians and the give away was at teh start when it said 'DIDO' in big letters!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Most sources quote around £17m but it was a structured deal heavily based on payments for performances/goals/trophies etc so not sure exactly how much we've actually paid. Same sort of deals we've got on Anderson, Tosic and Ljajic.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

In other words you spent 15 million to buy a guy that played at maximum 3 games this season.
This is how football is going to look for the next 20/30 years if something doesn't happen. Teams just spend huge amounts of money in players they don't even use instead of leaving them in their clubs, oh well..
Hope you can give him a brighter future not a "saviolas" career.
