Manchester United Thread

maybe if he won the player of the year in 06/07 he'd be encouraged to run at people. the way it is now he won it for playing poorly compared to 06 and scoring mad goals.
 
Im not sure about that though? People wouldnt have put that label on him last season when he was firing them in. I think he needs to realise what put him into that bracket of the worlds best. A Ronaldo running at defenders is the best and if anything he's hindering his own game at the moment but showing when he does lose his pace he'll be able to adapt.
 
Oh my word... Liverpool can beat Chelsea but fail to beat Everton lol! Fergie will be laughing at the up and downs of their team...
 
This is starting to turn into the story of the season for us where we seem to be doing well because of other teams screwing up.
 
To be honest I think it works in their favour getting knocked out, There not good enough to fight on all fronts and if anything staying in it would have helped us, Now they have just the main 2 to focus on.

i think its hard for rafa to focus..

he's too busy trying the to crack Da Fergie Code...

and what with his captain on a court charge..

his unique ability for spouting shite...

and his special coaching methods (eg.to ostracize and sell player(s) at crucial times of the season...

and the FACT the club is run so badly a family of fairground gypos could do a better job...

all in all they are doing such a great job of fucking things up we just have to hope rafa stops scribbling nonsense on A4 pieces of paper and sign his contract!
 
Ronaldo is doing exactly what i said he would, he was named the best player in the world and his ego just got too big for his own body. Like some1 said, now, he doesn't need to prove any1 anything, yet he just scored goals and won trophies with Manchester, wow... how amazing was that? what about playing well? nah, messi is just going to steal it, even if i play like last season, that must be his thoughts right now.
I always predicted this, when he started in ManU he said it, i want to leave a mark in football and be named the best, so that was his final and most important achievement, he won it, he could end his career right now and still be happy with his stupid ego.
 
It's just interesting seeing the change in his emotions between 06/07 and now really.

If you look at when he scores against Roma, he looks so happy with himself and with the team. Compare that with say, when he scored the amazing free kick against Portsmouth last season, and he just turned around with that annoyingly big headed look on his face, the "I'm better than you" look.

Now he just seems aggressive though admittedly when he scored his double against WBA I think he was smiling again.

I think he was enjoying himself more before he became the world's best.

It really, really was. And I didn't go to that game with high hopes. Firstly because we'd gone into it without scoring many at all in Europe. Then I had to look forward to clashing with the Roma fans (I got caught up in it just by bad timing) and thirdly I figured the atmosphere around me was going to be terrible because I was in the corporate seats with a bunch of suit wearing southern tossers.

But then we play like that, and the fans were amazing all night (probably as a result of the clashes), and it was genuinely the best performance I've ever seen from us.

Your being harsh on him Matherto, Wasnt it before that Roma game were he scored against Europe and did that arrogant celebration, He always has that about him and its great, without it he wouldnt be the player he is IMO. He changed his game last season for the team! which shows he's a team player, I just think he needs to return to his old ways that the team has found a solution to having a focal point (Berbatov)
 
i think he is though, i think we'll see more of the old ronaldo as the season progresses. he's already playing more like his old self with every game ive seen him play recently with like you rightly said berbatov being more of a focal point.
 
Speaking of Ronaldo,how does he feel now that we got the green light to sign another winger,Antonio Valencia of Wigan in the summer? Thats like "you can leave if you want to" indication.

Seems Rooney and Evra will be back on the bench against West Ham. No Neville so Brown should come in at RB
 
I was reading earlier that us & West Ham are the 2 form sides in the league, so should be a good game.

In a way I hope Rooney doesn't play so that way he won't make the England squad. Not that I don't care about the national side (not as much as United anyway!), it's just sod's law that he'd get injured at a time when we'd really need him...
 
Tonight will be our acid test for the season.We lost on the last two visits to Upton Park and I think the boys would be fired up for this time round to stop the Hammers from gaining a hattrick of sorts. 1 nil to us should just do it!
 
Weird match, west ham was brilliant IMO. Dominated our midfield and left us with very few decent chances at all. But Giggsy's goal was pure brilliance and good enough to take it for us. I thought they'd scored a few times, but kept going wide. Cannot fathom why we left Scholes on for the 90, could barely run by the end.

Does anyone know if we've had the lowest number of penalties in the league this year?
 
We've had 2 in the league, 1 in the FA Cup and 3 in the league cup. I cant find any online stats on penalties awarded atm. I'll keep looking, it's an interesting thought after Carrick getting robbed of one last week and Ronny today.
