Nice line up Beachryan, Ronaldo looked a lot more threatening once he got put upfront. With him being less of a winger these days maybe his long term future may be as a CF. He's got the knack of poaching and the lethal dribbling ability and pace of the other Ronaldo to make one of the best CF's going.

I think Rooney would lose out the most in that formation though. Unless he and Ronaldo rotated throughout the match it could work? From what I've seen Tevez was brilliant in that position for Argies in the WC. Overall I think it could work Berba/Ronaldo could be lethal :...

I'd like to see us try that formation too. I think it was against Roma away when Ronnie played upfront with Rooney and we were devastating that night so it could work with Berba pulling the strings and Tevez dropping off and causing havok!

Also if results fall our way this weekend, Chelsea and Liverpool might not even pull away from us, I mean a draw in each match is quite possible considering the opposition and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Arsenal pulled out a win, after all they already beat us and Chelsea this season.

Looks like Ronaldo will be playing up front today.

The line up for this morning's game:
Van der Sar, Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Anderson, Scholes, Giggs, Ronaldo, Tevez.
Subs: Kuszczak, Rafael Da Silva, O'Shea, Evans, Carrick, Fletcher, Gibson, Park, Welbeck, Rooney, Amos

Just trying to see if I can book our conference room for a 'meeting' ... ;)

Good game, lots of goals which we needed even if it was against a poor side, Ronaldo played in that "free role" today and did well. Rooney came on scored 2 in 5 minutes, really shows his class when he's missing and comes back.

Ronaldo didnt start upfront,Tevez did.

We won 5-3.Led 2 nil at the break with two headed goals from Vida and Ronaldo.
What followed next was a cracking second half.Goals coming from substitutes Rooney(2) and Fletcher.A sloppy goal was conceded with the Japanese attack cutting our lagged defenders like hot knife thru butter.Rooney replied instantly, smartly outwitting the Jap backline and placed the ball in the net with his left peg.We conceded penalty nex thanks to Gaz Neville. He should know better by not jumping with your hands extracted out.Fletcher put us 4-2 ahead with a smart header from Evra's cross.Rooney put us 5-2 ahead again with what looked like a carbon copy of his first goal but this time with his right. The Japs ended the game with a cracking strike to make the scoreline a bit flattering.

Ryan Giggs had a fantastic game pulling strings in the middle, almost a free role from him.Floated in the corner for the first two goals plus Rooney's first goal.

We are into the finals, meeting a mexican club i think. Its on this Sunday and I will bring in the post game report to you lot.

Its on channel 5 over here, thankfully Collymore didnt say anything stupid like he normally does. Im sure he'll sneak one comment in on Sunday.

You got the order of goals wrong mate we were 5-1 up at one stage, their penalty was the penultimate goal!

And they're not Mexican we're up against a side from Ecuador who upset the odds to win the Copa Libertadores! They beat our suspected feeder club Fluminese in the final.

Fluminese isnt our feeding club, If it was im sure we wouldnt let Milan take one of their brightest stars and they have a few others showing real potential.

Got to love Fergie, When asked about Ronaldo being off to Real he said...

"Do you think I would enter into a contract with that mob? No chance. I would not sell them a virus. That is a no. There is no agreement whatsoever between the clubs."

I think what the gaffer meant was,he would rather keep the virus(ronaldo) in the camp, even if it affects the whole team...rather selling him off to Madrid? Kinda deft but bold.

Fantastic draw that was...I fancied Inter rather than any other big teams in the pool, because they are too eccentric.A first away tie would be an advantage to us.

Lots of other juicy ties too like Lyon vs Barca,Chelski vs Juve and Real vs Pool.

Should be a great knock out stage this time round.

Chelsea will easily beat Juve, Liverpool will batter Real, Arsenal will beat Roma.

So what about us? Well, hard to say, because Fergie can never seem to beat Mourinho, he did it once in a helluva lot of attempts really, but having said that, Inter are shit in reality, I doubt Ibrahimovic will cause too many problems for Rio and Vida, I mean look how poor he (and the rest of Inter) were against Liverpool last year.

Disagree mate, Chelsea V Juve will be a close game and with Scolari's big game record I actually can see Juve winning but Chelsea might scrape it. Liverpool I agree will batter Real which is a shame cause I would have liked nothing better to have faced them this season.

Arsenal V Roma will be the best match to watch for a neatral, Roma's counter attacking play and Arsenal's passing movement will mean it should be great on the eye.

Then us...Well if im honest I wanted Real and Sporting and Inter were probably last on my list of teams I wanted. Mourinho is a cunt but nonetheless he is tactically very good when it comes to facing us. Inter are looking much better IMO than last year and for me Ibrahimovic along with Messi is currently BPITW if you follow the form book. If im honest im a bit worried but we have enough quality to beat them.

Flu isn't dealing young players exclusively to United. As we speak, a 15 year-old youngster is suposed to be signing with Arsenal. Really sad to see our gems leave so soon...

On another note, hats off to SAF for that statement

At last but not least, United x Inter will be the most exciting of all. Don't be fooled about their poor performance last season. The likes of Ibra, Maicon, Cambiasso and Muntari are doing great. Should be a tight one!

Inter are definately not the same team they were last year. They want the CL so bad. I mean that is why they fired Mancini and got Mourinho. Since then he bought some top class wingers, thay actually have 3 top class players for every postion and started playing I would say more attacking football or his usual 4-2-2-2! Inter are definately a force tp be reckoned with and will NOT be an easy trip for Manchester. I honestly think Inter have the advantage in this encounter. :DD

Also should be interesting watching Ibra and Ronaldo in the same game! The biggest flops today as they both demolish only small teams...

Funny how Ronaldo flops in big games yet managed to score against Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea last season and was top scorer in the CL.

English arrogance usually goes wrong. Although I'm rooting for all English teams against their opponents, it's not a done deal by far.

Since I'm not english, heres my take on this one.

Chelsea will scrape beat Juve, Liverpool will lose to Real, Arsenal will probably lose to Roma too.Man United will beat Inter over two legs - This one is biased!!!

:WORSHIP:

Thats pretty much how I see it too.
A bit worried about the draw TBH but I think if we beat Inter, we'll probably go on to win the whole thing.

Juevntus look the best Italian team in the CL, as their counter-attacking style is very effective in this competition, so I wouldn't be surprised if they knock out Chelsea.

I think Inter will be a really tough match, Mourinho's record against us is very good remember, both with Porto and Chelsea and Inter are very strong and as has been said, are desperate for European glory. Added to the fact we've been quite below par this year I dont think it's a certainty that we'll go through at all.

Look, Italian football is no longer what it once was. Juve are playing the nicest football out of the teams mentioned, but Chelsea should have too much quality for them, its that simple. Thinking about it, I'm not 100% certain they'll win, but it's more likely they'll win than Juve will. Be funny if they got knocked out though.

Same with Arsenal/Roma. Roma have been shocking this season in Serie A, and if Arsenal can beat Milan at the San Siro, then they can beat Roma.

And I'm 130% sure Liverpool will have no problems with Real. Real aren't a good side going forward. Raul has no pace, Higuain has no pace and isn't an out and out striker (regardless of how well he's doing this year) and even though they've bought Huntelaar, I can see him flopping against big teams, hell he was crap against Villa (sounds like sour grapes really considering I wanted him for United instead of Berbatov, but ah well)

Liverpools defence is far too good to be troubled by Real, and it would just be nice of an ex-Atletico hero to come back from injury and score against them.
