Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

A couple of rumours flying here and there...

Lyon are looking to sign Luis Fabiano from Sevilla as a replacement for Karim Benzema who is on the verge of a £30m move to Manchester United.

Apparently,Louis Saha is in France for a medical with Lyon.

Man United to sign Dani Alves, Benzema and Moutinho, Saha only player to leave along with Pique from the first team.

United will finalize the transfers of David Silva, Daniel Alves and Karim Benzema within the week.Cristiano Ronaldo is going to announce his loyalty by signing a new 5-year deal with United

Sir Alex Ferguson dispatched Scouts to Norway to watch the young forward Tarik Elyounoussi who plays for FFK, a huge talent who got his debut for the norwegian last week when he scored within 5 minutes after entering the field.

News just in.Aaron Ramsey will sign for us after both clubs agreed a deal for the starlet. He will officially become a United player as soon as he passes his medical and signs on the dotted line.

Lets not get too excited about Ramsey eh? Seems as though we have had a bid accepted too:

Bidding war for Ramsey

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I dont think he has joined yet though because rumor has it that Arsenal have had a bid accepted too

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

The kid must be a bit special. We rarely buy 17 year old British talents so this deal must be exceptional. If Ramsey has at least half of a young Giggs potential,I think we might have gotten a bargain.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

The kid is a bit special, played all over the park for Cardiff, full back, up front and anywhere across the midfield. He doesn't look to have the explosive pace needed for an out and out winger so i'd say he's likely to be grromed to take over from the Ginger Prince. If he agrees terms he'll be loaned back to Cardiff for a season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I really hope we get Ramsey - it'll indicate we're still the place to go for good young UK-based talent. And given the current loyalty being shown by our favourite Real madrid fan, I don't think that can be a bad thing.

Dunno how you guys feel, but while watching him this season has been a priveledge, the way he has handled himself since the CL final (and just before!) has been a disgrace, and he's clearly a spoilt child being led around by agents and women. No doubt he has the talent and work ethic to be the best footballer in the world for a while, but at what point do you give up? Would we be better off having an unmotivated whiner for a year who may go down in value, or sell up now when he's the best thing since sliced bread?

If we do sell him, we'll have shedloads of cash, but I'm not sure you can replace that kind of goal scoring. Our central midfielders scored like 3 goals last year combined. And that's fine when your quasi-wingers are adding in dozens, but no one we replace him with will do that.

Fergie's never been one ot buy loads of players, it upsets the balance of the team. Ideally I'd hoped we'd add someone young to be Giggsy (like Ramsey) and a big man, not necessarily world class, as a back up option to the little buzzing formation that is our bizarre 4-6-0. However, when you remove the main cog in that, I'm not sure it can work.

Also, did anyone else expect Fergie to buy before Euro to make sure he misses the inevitable inflation (read Hargreaves effect?)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

He could buy someone and then they break a leg, so maybe that's why he's waiting.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I guess so...With the Glazers onboard,I think the money is there to be spent. It doesnt matter if prices inflates for a Euro top performer,if we want him,we could buy him...of course, not in the context of Mr Abramovich though.

Euro players aside, why couldnt we tie up deals for Dani Alves, that is if we are officially interested in him?

Seems like the Ramsey deal is not officially concluded yet,we might just have to wait another day or two hopefully.

It's nowhere near concluded, there's no certainty that you'll get him. The other bids being accepted aren't formalities I imagine, I wouldn't automatically think he'll join you just because you've had a bid accepted ...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I would be surprised if we were interested in signing Alves.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Alves has already said he wants to play for Barca.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Barca will probably get him to replace Zambrotta.

No he's clearly weighing up his options - that said - unless he is a fan of one of them, why wouldn't he choose the current champions over Arsenal (where I'm pretty sure Theo has that place locked up) or Everton (really why?) United have already said he can continue with Cardiff city for another year, which is what he wants, and then come meet up with a team that at that stage could be really hurting for a left footed midfielder. Plus there's the giggs factor :)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

And there's us as well, I think we'll get our arse into gear and have a bid accepted soon enough.

Personally, I'd expect him to go to Arsenal or United. Wenger's got a great reputation bringing kids through (as has Ferguson I suppose) but I just think Arsenal have a better youth system in place.

I also think he'll get more games at Arsenal than United. But then I'd have thought Walcott would've played more last season ...

The ONLY reason I can see him going to Everton is guaranteed games in the top flight, which is something a young player would consider definately, but as for long-term career I wouldn't have thought Everton have much chance.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I can really careless about another youth I had it up to here w/ the future youth. Stop saying their the new Giggs,Henry or Zidane absolute bollocks not just Ramsey but all youth players

It's been mentioned that he's a good mate of Bale at Spurs, so North Londom might suit him better.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Either way,if Aaron Ramsey wants to prove with worth in the Premiership, there is no better place to do it other than at Old Trafford.Arguably of course.

Honestly I think we are not genuinely interested in Dani Alves. That explains the lack of activity in that matter.

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to quit Manchester United for Real Madrid's £150,000 a week after tax deal, it has been revealed.

The Guardian says the Portugal international has informed his agent, Jorge Mendes, that he wants to play in Spain and his decision has already been outlined to Madrid, encouraging them to step up their attempts to prise him from Old Trafford.

Ronaldo is being offered a salary in the region of £150,000 a week after tax and has told his closest associates that the financial rewards, as well as the opportunity to play for a club of Madrid's prestige, are too good to turn down.

Relations between the two clubs have been severely strained and the latest developments will cause intense dismay to Sir Alex Ferguson, who has been increasingly vocal in his criticism of Madrid. There is also a growing sense of foreboding about Ronaldo's motives, specifically the manner in which he has repeatedly adapted his line in a string of media interviews.

Ferguson had wanted the player to hold a press conference, or, at the very least, put out a statement, committing himself to the club, but Ronaldo has made it clear he plans to do nothing of the kind.

Mendes is believed to be in almost daily contact with Madrid and looking at ways to soften United's resistance. Whether that is possible remains to be seen as United have threatened to report the Spanish champions to Fifa and Ferguson has said he would rather let Ronaldo rot in the reserves than sanction the deal.

I know its "The Guardian", but i hope its not true though. and About Ramsey, Arsenal's bid was rejected sometime ago, i read it somewhere, so i guess United have bought him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I really hope he stays at Manutd we need to keep the epl the best league. Him leaving will effect not Manutd but us all who love what he did for the league imo. IMO having one great season is OK! but to do it over and over again is WORLD CLASS!

Please! don`t take this post as a suck up to Manutd , I just took my tinted shades down for a bit:COAT:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Yeah even though, i'm against Cronaldo and United, i dont want him to go. I seriously dont like Real Madrid's attitude of sucking up all the best players in the world. We need to have some even here in EPL!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

He was been the greatest for two seasons now ;)

Yeah I see what you mean, it was a real shame when Henry left.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I think it's funny. He'll go to Madrid, win less but have a better tan and more money, start going out more and in five years time we'll be talking about what would have happened to that great kid Ronaldo if he'd stayed focused on football.

Love or hate United, it is without a doubt a very, very tough, old school approach to football development, which is what a lot of these kids need. I fear for him that while Madrid will offer more in terms of lifestyle, it won't offer the same for his work. But hey, if you offered me the same choice, I'd damn well choose lifestyle, so there you go! :)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

He says, living in Bermuda ;))

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

I'd choose football. I wouldn't care how much money was being offered, regular 1st team football would be all I demanded.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

You say that now, but if you dropped out of school to play football, and rely heavily on pace, by the time you hit your 30s you might not be able to earn that kind of money anymore. Maybe Manchester is 'too noisy', like Hleb says

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

What are the good reasons for him to leave anyway? Because he wants a new challenge? Because he wants to play in the Bernabau? He can still achieve a lot at United, which is why I don't understand his mindset.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - 68' 99' 08' European Champions!!!!!!!!

Good reasons for leaving:
$$$
His girlfriend wants him to
His mom wants him to
It's nicer weather
The city is nicer

I believe you'll find those are the reasons :)
