Manchester United Thread

This was just shite.

Barca have nothing up front, nothing to change their game plan, and we just let them have all the ball.

If we'd have got at them, we'd have easily beaten them. Their defence is crap, but oh no. Fergie plays a shite formation, Rooney and Ronaldo in the wrong place so they're both completely innefective.

Eugh, such an awful match, and a massive oppertunity lost.
 
Awful match yes. But understandable. Man Utd gave Barca a little too much respect imo.

But I think the reason why they were tight was because of their defensive problems. Brown in the centre and Hargreaves at Rightback isnt ideal, I think they went for extra protection.

I wouldve like to see Man Utd leave more players up the pitch, that way everytime they got the ball they could actually play some football. Risky I know, but would of been a cracking open game.
 
Fergie is doing it the Liverpool way....it had to be done. I guarantee Rooney will play up front next week.

Dont care how crap we were Barca are just plain awful.
 
i think its a great result, its going to be totally different at Old Trafford next week, very confident of going through
 
So today we got the boring United, next match I hope it changes dramatically.

Oh and please Sir Alex, for the sake of Football, Anderson instead of Scholes. :)
 
Barca lacked a finish product ,but they open Manutd up... cant remember the last time Manutd were stuck in their half for most of the game for a moment I thought Barca was playing Bolton. I do feel Manutd will go thru now just need to make those penalty :-pp

edit : scholes did good he allow Rio to roam abit which was key
 
HMMMM....Its an ok result, at home we can beat anyone so with that im quite confident but the fact Barca only need a draw can hurt us, still am confident Ronaldo will have time to reflect on the pen and will be eager to make it right at home if im honest the worry is about tiredness with Chelsea on Saturday and Barca on Tuesday..otherwise were still set for Moscow:DD:DANCE:
 
It was a pretty nice match, but Ronaldo is losing too much credibility with all those divings, if he continues like that refs will only take 1 fault out of 10.. Yet Barca was ineffective in the scoring department, once again...
Hope Next match the game is different and Messi completely recovered from injury and can play at least 75/80 minutes for a better game.

When did he "dive" today, he should have had another Pen and they should have been put down to 10, i can't really see where he dived today? unless you can point out incidents in which he did?
 
I wasn't able to watch the entire match, but from what i've seen ManUtd show CL winner style. No problems playing ugly when you have too, and today you needed that.

If only Ronaldo had scored that, knowing how ManUtd is at home I would have said ManUtd were already in the final.

A word for Deco, was the only one with Xavi that pushed the team forward. Dumbass Rykaard can do shit with a fabulous team. And insists on playing kids (Bojan) on matches of great importance.

EDTI:On the UEFA site, Messi was MOTM. I didn't see him do much to deserve that.
Because of what I said above Deco or Xavi played much better.

I seriously don't remember the dive's ? im probably only thinking of the main incidents, the one were Marquez ran into was not a dive and the one in the second half near the edge of the box were Toure tuck him down wasnt either? maybe they where middle of the pitch incidents i didn't really look too much into
 
Messi played ok but in all honestly Evra had his number. Was bitterly disappointed with yet another lacklustre away performance but could have been worse. The tie is still in the balance and either could go through.
 
Got to feel for Barcelona. Dominated the game, had several shots, opened up the defense, and played football the right way, as it should be played. Certainly deserved the win, they were very, very unlucky :-pp

Ferguson playing the Liverpool way? Surely not? United doing do that. United don't play negative football. They don't try to defend for 90 minutes.....

Jokes aside though, United will go through. I don't see why Ferguson was so defensive. Nothing special about Barca's performance yesterday. It's the same bloody thing. Pass, pass, pass, and in the end get nothing. Same tempo, same side passes. It's how they've been playing this season, with little success. Same as Arsenal. If United tried to attack, Barcelona would have collapsed.

United should win. But with the 0-0, Barca need to score, and then the pressure is really on.
 
Wel that was a huge dissaponment of a match, where was all the free flowing attacking football, as much as Barca were below par they gave you a bit of a lesson in how to keep the ball, even if they couldnt do anything with it.After that i really do expect Barcelona to go through..

very unlike united performance! But great result for them because they just didnt perform last night and still a great result, expect you to win comfortably at old trafford, barca huffed and puffed all night but dont really think der sar had to much worries.

Last night showed how they have little confidence. They had little initiative, little determination and little flair. They couldn't even push in the final 10 minutes and barely had any shots.
 
It was totally UNEXPECTED!! I never thought Barca would play this way after their shitty form in La Liga. Now even at OT i think things are not going to be the same. Theres going to be a toughhh match!!

I thought if United scored last night they would go on to win, with the backup of an away goal. now im not so sure. United have to attackreally in the next leg (as both teams have to) which will leave them a bit exposed to barcelonas attack. Barca didnt have the space last night because United were packing their ranks at the back, but United cant play like that next week. And even if United score they need 2 realistically because of course if Barca score - and they are well capable - United can still go out. Its gonna be tense.

Yep by boring everyone to death. I hope I never see us play like that again, it just isn't the United way. I knew it would be a cagey affair, the big matches always are. The Liverpool v Chelsea match was far better to watch and I never thought I'd hear myself saying that.

United were very professional in defence last night although lets be honest, Barcelona were piss poor. They kept the ball well but what did they do with it? Fuck all.

I reckon Barca will score at Old Trafford because they have to BUT I think we'll score more. Their defence won't know what hit them next Tuesday and although Puyol is back, Marquez is suspended.

Overall I'm happy with 0-0, just a bit dissapointed that we didn't get the important away goal.

Im an arsenal fan ha you drew, ronaldo is too cocky! IMO! MISSED A PENALTY IN THE FIRST MINUTE!
