Manchester United Thread

Ah, the usual excuse when a team like Arsenal or Barcelona don't win. 'Had possession, but couldn't score'.

its been the same with us, apart from the derby at OT we could have won the other three games we lost, but couldnt put away any of the many chances we created....

They're one dimensional, lack creativity, penetration and ideas, and all they ever do is play side passes through the whole game. They can't change their tempo, and even their so called 'one touch passing' (which existed 2 years ago ) doesn't work, because the whole team is on a different wavelength. They have the best CL record, but they are still yet to face a really strong team, and they have been very, very dull throughout the campaign. The only reason they're 3rd in La Liga is because Atletico aren't consistent enough, and Racing don't have enough squad depth, even though both have been much better than Barcelona this season. Not to mention the several, several occassions Xavi and Messi have rescued them by getting a 1-0 lead in the last minute.

I don't even know why we are arguing about this? Neither of us support Barcelona, I am just stating the obvious, that United should easily defeat Barca.

all im saying is that its foolish to write off anyteam that gets to a semi final, especially one with the quality that they have...

Last season i was pretty much confident we would beat a "poor" Milan side and we got trounced i really find it funny when people undermine Barca as crap etc, they still have UNBELIEVABLY good players in their side, it will only take a moment of magic from one of there players to turn the game in their favour. all im hoping for is an away goal and not conceding more than 2 so we can take that back to OT.

I think this is how we'll set out
----------Van Der Sar-----------
Brown---Ferdinand-Vidic-----Evra
Park--Anderson-Carrick-Scholes-Rooney
---------------Ronaldo---------------

It did the job in Rome and we played well that night so i expect that lineup the only changes from that i can see our maybe Hargreaves and Nani in the team but i expect that

not sure about scholes at the mo, he seems to be more of home player...

i'd prefer anderson, carrick, hargreaves with park, rooney and ronaldo upfront.

And did you watch them play? They scraped past Schalke, and if Schalke had been more clinical, Barca would have been thrashed. It all seems similar to last year with Milan, but this Barca team is playing some of the worst football I've ever seen played by a CL team.

As long as Ferguson doesn't try too many tactics, and simply lets United play, Barca will be defeated easily.

You seem so sure

Barcelona Vs Man U 3-1 (HOME)

Not much of a predictor are you ?

I guess it will be 4-5-1 just like Younggun said but only thing will be that Rooney will play forward and CRonaldo will be just behind him and covering the left wing also.

Does anyone know Barca's "strongest" side?
Haven't really followed them lately, and with Ronaldinho & Puyol out I'd guess it might be this:

Valdes
Zambrotta Marquez Milito Abidal
Xavi Y.Toure Iniesta
Messi Eto'o Henry

If so, we'll definately pack 5 in midfield, possibly 4-4-2 later on depending on how we're getting on, maybe like this (we'll need pace so think Scholes & Giggs will be on the bench):

VDS
Brown Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Hargreaves Carrick Anderson/Scholes
Ronaldo Park/Nani/Giggs
Tevez/Rooney

It's squeaky bum time!

there's talk of rooney needing a jab to get thru tomorrow's game..

if thats the case i hope we start with tevez and rest the boy wonder, not the best time to be risking him IMO...

 Was thinking the exact same thing mate, the scouse know how to play mind games eh?;))

Im sure Ronnie will play uptop mate, we do it alot in the big games as Rooney tends to run back alot anyway and Ronaldo just stays up there :),

What 7 days it will be for us! all or bust! :|

good luck tonight fellas, serving up another treat for us neutrals...

we thank you.

do your thing boys chelsea await you in the battle of britain.

You a neutral? You're more a Red Devil than a Blue

He appreciates entertaining, attacking football - something Liverpool could of done with last night instead of sitting on a one goal lead. ;))

Anyway, BIG game tonight lads. Got a feeling we'll lose but I PRAY that we get an away goal.

Henry might be out with fever. I'm pleased, he ALWAYS scores against United.

A "young" Paul Scholes amazed by the master...

We need to attack from the get go.Barca will be vulnerable without their talismatic captain Charles Puyol.I hope we will start with Carrick,Hargreaves and Scholes in the middle with Anderson to come in along sometime in the second half.Rooney and Nani out wide with Ronaldo alone upfront. We can win at the Nou Camp and I am saying that with full confidence, without any doubts.COME ON UNITED!!!

I think it's good Puyol isn't playing. He's been terrible all season. Key player is Evra. If there's one player for Barca who can turn it on, that's Messi (despite his injuries). Evra needs to keep Messi quiet.

Barca's defence is very vulnerable. Marquez has been rushed back from injury and looks unfit. Milito hasn't really shone this season and has been carrying an injury in the last few games, hence why he has looked so slow. Luckily for them, they made a good purchase in buying Yaya Toure, who has saved Barca on many occassions this season.

Fuck yes he's playing Tevez and Rooney together in Europe. FINALLY Fergie!

I can honestly see us going for it tonight, I really hope we do anyway.

WE'VE GONE 4 4 2:SHOCK: I really hope it works otherwise with no holding midfielder we might just get a battering :((

COME ON UNITED!

Well for us neutrals its the best possible news, but I think the way you guys set-up against Roma away was perfect. I wouldve said same again tbh.

Over confidence you think? Sir Alex obviously smells blood.

Im surprised by the tactics at first, but Rooney on the right has worked well for the gameplan. So unfortunate that Vidic isnt playing this one, have Hargreaves rightback is a waste when he could be so effective in the middle.

Ronaldo's miss was a bad one, but right now doesnt seem like a costly one as Man Utd are very comfortable.

Rooney has done naff all, he needs to be up top and let Ronaldo go on the right to open our attack up a bit.

Plus the fact Tevez and Rooney work so well together.
