Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Just found this on the West Ham shop, I was wondering if I could loan it off them for the next couple of years. But seriously the funniest bit, it's available for delievery from the 10/7/07, great, just in time for his delivery to Man Utd then probably..................

TEVEZ MOVE IN DOUBT
Posted 06/07/07 18:36EmailPrintSave

West Ham today threw Carlos Tevez's proposed move to Manchester United into turmoil by insisting there is no agreement in place for him to joining the champions.

Tevez's representatives have been suggesting the Argentina striker's move could be finalised within 24 hours and that he is to have a medical in Venezuela.

However West Ham say the 23-year-old is under contract for a further three years and no transfer can be made without their agreement.

Crucially, the Premier League are likely to back West Ham all the way in their stance.

Hammers chairman Eggert Magnusson said in a statement: "Carlos Tevez is a registered West Ham player, contracted to the club until June 2010.

"There is no agreement with West Ham for Carlos Tevez to leave the club and we expect him to return in time for next season's preparations.

"No decision on his future can be reached without the agreement of West Ham."

Tevez is currently in Venezuela on Copa America duty and played in Argentina's win over Paraguay last night.

The situation is further clouded by the fact United believe he is not under contract to West Ham any more and that they merely had an option to sign him for a further three years.

West Ham are adamant he is still under contract and will be so until 2010.

Tevez's camp had hoped to have set up a deal worth a possible £30million and although there had been close to an agreement with the Red, the Premier League have demanded that any transfer is handled by the Hammers and will block the move unless they are satisfied the transfer fee will go to West Ham.

The league accepted in April that West Ham had terminated all agreements with Tevez's agent Kia Joorabchian - and will keep a watchful eye on any transfer to ensure that the club keep their promise.

A Premier League spokesman said: "As far as we are concerned any deal to take Carlos Tevez away from West Ham has to be done directly with the club."

One possible avenue would be for West Ham to be paid a transfer fee and then agree a compensation figure with Joorabchian for breaching contracts with his company Media Sports Investments (MSI) when they terminated those agreements following their £5.5million fine in April for breaching Premier League rules.

It is understood though that the league would want a substantial chunk of the transfer fee to remain at West Ham rather than it all be handed over to MSI in compensation, otherwise they could be accused of merely covering up the third-party agreements that has caused so much controversy.

Joorabchian responded to Magnusson's statement by confirming he had been given permission by West Ham to hold discussions with other clubs.

He also confirmed that personal terms have been agreed between Tevez and the Barclays Premier League champions.

A statement released to PA Sport from Joorabchian's lawyers said: "The circumstances surrounding Carlos Tevez's relationship with West Ham have been well documented in the media and footballing world.

"We confirm that Carlos Tevez has, with the knowledge and permission of West Ham United Football Club, been in discussions with other clubs.

"Subsequently, personal terms have now been agreed with Manchester United Football Club.

"Carlos Tevez's representatives will work during the course of next week so that a move to Manchester United can be finalised as quickly as possible.

"The process for finalising the player's registration with Manchester United will be undertaken in accordance with appropriate procedures."

For their part, United are eager to distance themselves from any suggestion they have acted incorrectly, either in negotiating with the player or trying to push through a deal with Joorabchian.

United's frustration at getting so close to signing a major star without being able to finalise the transfer is obvious.

Unless a compromise can be brokered, the issue seems to be heading for the courts, to determine once and for all who owns Tevez's registration.

"We have acted in good faith," argued a United spokesman.

"Carlos Tevez was given permission to speak to us and do a deal."

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

yeah he did well, but i don't think he's first team material. unless he's happy being a sub most of the time.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I was only messing around. As far as subs go, he's pretty good. Would probably make the first team for some Premiership sides.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

this Tevez drama should be behind doors ,all we should see is he joined ManUtd and him saying I`m happy to be here. There tainting this guy unfairly

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Looks like Fergie thinks Tevez deal is done and dusted, good news I guess! Other than Hargreaves, all deals conducted pretty quietly this year, whcih is a step in the right direction. Who is on their way out then?

Well Fergie has always liked a 4 striker system, so I'm guessing he's looking at:
Tevez, Rooney, Saha, Smith as his main four, with Ole and Rossi covering.

The question is, will Saha/Smith (and to some extent Tevez) be satisfied not starting every game? I believe Saha might be, he was always third choice when Ruud and Rooney were around. Smith, maybe not so much. So will Rossi step up into the first team? Or will SAF continue to use Ole instead?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

You're forgetting Dong too. Let's see how he does in the Asia frindlies.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Loan out Rossi again, move Ole into midfield where we know he can play and that would leave Rooney, Tevez, Smith and Saha. The worst one at the end of the season gets sold and Rossi comes in.
Pretty simple if you ask me.

And as much as it hurts me to say it, its pretty obvious why we really bought Dong...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Dong's really young isn't he? He looked totally out of his league against Chelsea, then again was all alone up top against some rather tasty defenders. Of course I'd like for him to have a chance, but is he really going to be first team material?

I kind of agree Rune, though I believe Rossi will get fed up and leave if we loan him anywhere again. But I'm not sure if he's good enough. Surely we'd choose Tevez over him, at least at the moment. Dissapointing, as he is more or less a product of our youth setup, and an underground fan favourite, but still, what can you do? Good problem to have!

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

from BBC

'BBC Sport understands Sunderland have agreed a fee with Manchester United for Alan Smith, who will have a medical on Monday.

Manchester United were thought to want £6.5m for the England international.

"Sunderland are completely in agreement with the amount we're looking for," Manchester Uniteds assistant manager Carlos Queiroz told the club's TV channel.

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn said this week the club wanted to seal the deal before they pre-season training on Tuesday.

"It's fantastic and great news for Alan," added Queiroz.

"I've just phoned him and he's going to be able to undergo a medical on Monday."

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Be sad to see Smudge go, gave his all in every game, I think Rossi will be sold off to Parma too.Dong aint nowhere near good enough looked incredibly slow and clumsy in the very few chances he's had, he did well at antwerp but there's a huge differnce in the class and pace of the premiership. Once Tevez finalizes his move it will have been an amazing summer, which would be perfect if we finished it off by offloading Moonhead Silvestre and Kieran( i'm about as good at football as my fuckwit of a cousin )Richardson

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I'm glad he's gone to Sunderland. Thats the first place I would have wanted to send him but didnt think Keano would have the money for him.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Dont wanna upset people but i would have Smith over Saha anyday hes a lazy useless cunt.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I totally agree. I'd personally have kept him as the third striker behind Rooney and Tevez.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I heard Milan are after Heinze and Rossi. Appartently United wont sell Gaby to Liverpool, but would let him leave to a team away from the prem.

If Heinze came to us we'd be seriously strong in defense, unlike last season. Not sure about Rossi though. I think hes good but not gonna play first team. I presume his role at Milan would be similar to the one hes in at Man Utd right now.

ronaldo, pippo, isnt gilla gone? so wouldnt rossi be the thrid striker?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Can't believe we're offloading Alan Smith. A player that gave so much to United, did everything he was asked to, and still we get rid of him. Sad day. But I guess you've got to be ruthless to stay on top.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

how about huntelaar and babel(well worthy)? I don't like Tevez...he's a good player, but he doesn't have the charisma to be a United player...
and Heinze, Smith and Rossi do it well moving out, i prefer a small squad with everything we need than an exaggerated one

Get ready!

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Tevez would be great as he can interchange with Rooney. When one's tired, we can bring on the other to do the same job.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Evra is No 3 last time I checked. So what does everyone think are we going to be mad enough to sell Heinze? I personally think from a defensive perspective he is more solid than Evra, Also he actually does Aerial challenges unlike Midget man Evra who gets beaten in the air all the time.

hmm intresting you say that, i always thought evra could jump out of the park... evra picked up his defensive game immensley after januray, both players need to stay, they both are great. Altought heinze skill is something not to be desired, his grit and toughness make up for it. Everyone is talking about how united need a battler
and a guy who it tought(alan smith) but we dont need smith, when we have heizne. He can actually tackle....

Gilardino is (unfortunately) still very much a Milan player. Oliveira is the only striker whos left. So Rossi would be fourth choice.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I think I've said this before. In the big games, we have to go with Heinze. He's much stronger physically and defensively. Evra is best used against weaker teams or when we're losing and need extra penetration during the last 30 minutes of the game.
Heinze should still be first choice if you ask me with Evra being a sub (thats used very often).

woudl you agree that heinze give us that grit and toughness that smith attempted to bring(IMO), but he actually makes tackles, unlike smith who just seemend to get yellow cards..
