Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I completely agree with RunEdge, Smith gets stuck in and makes good challenges. Thats why Fergie tried to convert him as a Roy Keane style midfielder a couple of seasons ago (Before we got Carrick) I would keep Smith over Saha anyday of the week. I see Smith as a match winner when you need him to be where as Saha you cant rely on him for shit!

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Dont wanna upset people but i would have Smith over Saha anyday hes a lazy useless cunt.

I dont get why saha gets the hate he does, the guy is a good player, if we didnt have him last year we would have no title...

simple as that...

he is the most natural finisher we have, ive got no problems with smudge but he aint gonna get the return that saha gets...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Yeah, I don't get the Saha thing either. I mean, he's faster, stronger in the air, actually passes pretty well sometimes and can create chances himself. They're both able to hold the ball up with their backs to goal, and I wouldn't say either is a 'natural finisher' a la ruud or Mickey Owen.

Saha will be kept for now, as his value would be low given his lack of playtime. What annoyed fans was his seeming 'mental' injury.

I say keep them both. We've had 4 main strikers before. Rossi will get his chance, he just needs to prove himself in the 20 minutse he'll get in matches, and wait for glass knee to get hurt again.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Looks like FIFA and the FA are gonna get involved with the Tevez deal due to claims that the prem league cannot look at the situation from an independent point of view....

basically if they let us do the deal with kia (who owns tevez rights) then it leaves them fucked up over the whole west ham/sheff utd situation...

thats not our problem obviously so we need another party to sort this out before it goes to court...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I reckon rhis will be the line up for next year:

------------ VDS-----------
Neville---Rio----Vida------Evra
-------- Hargreaves----------
------Scholes---Carrick------
Ronaldo---Rooney---Tevez(??)

2nd team:

-------------Foster/KZ------------
Sheasy/Cathcart---Brown---Silv----Heinze/Evans
Nani/Eagles----Fletch/Pique---Anderson---Giggs
-------Ole/Rossi--------Saha/Smith

I've probley left a few squad players out and of course a few peeps will leave but overall its a big improvement on the last few seasons...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Wow, a front three of Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo. Run for the hills slow defenders!
Doesn't Tevez play out to the left for Argentina?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Please tell me thats a joke.
Every striker we have is a better finisher than Saha, especially Smith. I cant remember the last time Smith took a decent chance on goal and didnt score. I can remember loads for Saha. The only problem with Smith is that he doesnt play enough games. When we bought Smith, he scored almost every game until his first injury and since then, he hasnt had a consistant period of games to get back on track.

its no joke, look at his goal return before he (saha) got injured...

your wrong about smith 7 goals in nearly 60 games is nowhere near as good as saha even when he was at leeds he wasnt a great finisher...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

That's the thing about Saha. He's deadly when he's actually healthy, but for some reason cannot remain healthy for more than a month or so at a time. That's why I'd like them both to stay. Worst case is Smith buggers off, Tevez falls through, Saha sneezes and tears his ACL and we're left with Ole, Rossi and Rooney for the rest of the season.

spot on vann, and any of you jokers who think smith is a good tackler your having a laugh he is worse then scholes, he gets stupid yellows, why do you think his keano experiment FAILED. Why did sir alex go and spend 30 + million after that?(hargreaves and carrick) cause smith couldnt play defensivley to save his life.. Heinze is out toughman not smith, you need to be able to tackle CONSISTENTLY in order to send a message to the other team.

I'm talking about his goals/games ratio from the moment he signed till he was out of the team. Since then he's never been the same cuz he hasnt had a consistant run in the team.
And its not just his goal scoring, its his overall workrate which is miles better than Saha. Saha only looks for the goal, Smith helps out in other areas too. If you look back at some of the most memorable moments in recent years, I cant think of a single one with Saha but I could think of many with Smith. Like the assist and the celebration for Rooney's goal to kill off Arsenal's 49 game unbeaten run at Old Trafford, or his goal against (I think) Norwich when he first signed, or his contribution in destroying Roma in the CL recently.
I think about Saha and all I remember is all the times he f*cked up for us.

Saha has been with us for a longer period but the fans will remember Smith long before they remember Saha once they've both left. And I dont want to lose someone like that.

That might have something to do with one being a striker and the other being a defender.
Thats like saying Scholes is shit for not being able to tackle. Scholes isnt in the team for his tackling abilities and neither is Smith.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

It's got ridiculous now. The guy just wants to play football. If you want to go after his agent, fine, do whatever the hell you want to him. Nobody cares about agents. But Tevez wants to play, let him sign for whoever he wants to.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Its down to West Ham now. If they dont want to sell then im afraid he is stuck there.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

It all comes down the FA/West Ham having no foresight. At the time, they were threatened with relegation, and needed him to play, so they claimed he was wholly theirs. Why the FA didnt' say, isn't it a bit weird that you have a world class player you paid nothing for, is beyond me.

I believe the only way to sort this is to pay West Ham, who then hands it straight over to MSI. But that's too sketchy for the FA. All a bit of a cock up, like everything the FA do...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

In a interview he got asked the same question and he replied he was confident that Tevez was his player, but who knows whats happening!

Looks like Richardson is off to Sunderland in the region of £5M medical on Monday according to Sky Sports. Im wondering whats going to happen with Smith, if Tevez arrives then I reckon Smith will be gone.
