Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I think Rossi should be allowed to show his potential for us this season. I don't think we need another striker. And what's all this Heinze to Liverpool rubbish?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I'd hate to see him playing for them. I can't see it though. Just the papers linking him because he speaks Spanish.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

It doesn't mean we won't buy a new striker at all. It just shows that whoever we buy won't be as good as Rooney.

Solskjaer 20
Yorke 19
Cole 17 (when he first came)

Unless we sell Saha which would free up the number 9 shirt. Or maybe we would sign someone and then sell Saha later like in winter or something.
After thinking about the possible signings we could make, I think Tevez would probably be the only one that would excite me. Rooney, Saha, Smith and Tevez would give us so many options up front.
Ole would probably then fit into the attacking midfield position where Ronaldo plays.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Given the current situation with the lack of world class strikers unavailable for transfer...I think we could make do with Carlitos Tevez. He wants to move to a bigger club and he wants to stay in England.Put his 'good' looks and dodgy agent aside,he is indeed world class.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

"make do" with Tevez? I personally think he'd be awesome for us. What are defenders supposed to do when you have Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo running at you? And thats forgetting about what Nani and Anderson would bring to the table.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Id like to see us sign Tevez but personally I cant see it. I think he will keep Saha on and give him a chance to prove how crap he really is! By then Tevez will be long gone to a big club and we will have no chance.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

There was talk of us loan signing him for a season.I am not sure where its coming from.Maybe its just pure media bullshite. When will the lads return to pre-season training? Is it at the end of this week?

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Apparently SAF isnt in the least bit interested with tevez...

As I said until more money is raised no more signings will happen...

great to see Rooney get the Number 10 shirt, he was one of the best players in the league last year and didnt play to his best for the entire season, he'll be shit hot this season....

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I dont really think we need anyone else, TBH. Our team is more than ready to go.
Cant wait for the season to begin.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

My wish:

Say GTFO to shithouse Saha, and Hello to Janet Street Porter!...I mean Klaas Jan Huntelaar

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

I'd still like us to put a bid in for Eto'o. I mean having signed Henry, there is probably a bigger chance that Barca could sell him than before, so we could have a go. If not, than there's nothing wrong with signing Tevez, I mean he's not a bad second choice signing is he? As for Huntelaar, he seems to similar to Van Nistelrooy, so if we signed him, we might play a more direct style of play that we used to play when Van Nistel the Pistol was here.

Nah hes more adaptable than Ruud. He has it all.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

yeah, i think i'm on the list of no more buyings this summer until Richardson, Saha or Smith is gone.....really don't see any body else coming...

i'm not a big fan of Tevez, so i think i'll be the only one here to say i'd have a by on him...

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Thats just amazing. :applause:

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Dammit. I don't want us to just be like Chelski and spend stupid amounts on loads of players. I really don't htink our strike force is a problem. No doubt Tevez is good, but I personally don't htink he's that good, I mean even though it was west ham he didgo 19 prem games without a goal!

Will he be happy to bench it up? Or will he and Rooney start? Smith sure to go then, would figure Saha and Ole would stick around as backup. I suppose if we just get him for a year on a loan thing...I dunno. Don't like this Kia fellow either, all a bit shady.

Not enthused.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Somehow rather i hope the specs about Tevez is true. He'd be a great addition to the team's striking squad.Cant deny we have many talented 'striker attribute' players.Nevertheless also,we might have to look into our defensive lineups cause in my opinion we still facing a lack of depth. No disrespect to current players but at least we can add 1 or 2 more quality defensive players.Maybe this summer or winter.Hopefully.By then,United will be one of the most exciting team to watch.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

True we're spending shit loads but we have a few players that need replacing and for once we're doing it before they're finished. Problem with having a team that grows up together such as Giggs, Scholes, Neville and to a certain extent Solskjaer, is they all get old together too. Unlike other teams, we tend to keep our players long term so this years spending should just be a one off as all these players are pretty young too. All we might need next season is a right back.

Manchester United are set to complete the signing of West Ham United striker Carlos Tevez, according to reports. It is thought the two clubs could reach agreement over the Argentine international by the weekend and Sir Alex Ferguson's big spending summer continues

I hope you guys get him, I really do. He's class.

Don't know what player you guys have been watching who say your not a fan of him. Sure, he was poor at West Ham till the end of the season but he was adapting to the league. Look at Drogba when he signed for Chelsea and look at him now!

Towards the end of the season, he's shown at West Ham what he's like. Any times I've seen him play for Argentina too he's been a handful.

He is a very similar player to Rooney so it will be interesting to see how they both work together

If he comes to United I will see it as a good buy. It will certainly give Saha and Smith a kick up the arse! If Smith stays he has GOT to play better when given the opportunities. As for Saha well you all know what I think of him....

Tevez to us might not be a bad signing!

I totally agree. I think I said a few days ago that if we do sign another striker, it would have to be Tevez or nothing.
And even if he didnt get many goals last season, his work rate was brilliant and thats all that matters to me. If we works as hard as we all know he can, it'll just help the others score goals instead.

Still hope we keep Smith though. I'd rather sell Saha.

Re: Manchester United Thread - Champions 2006/07

Tevez will be very good for yous no doubt... I thought you lots wanted someone to handle the crosses in the box. Tevez is more of a ball-thru type. No worries you lots are on a spending spree 50k-70k the new chelsea I suppose ;)
