Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah just read that. It's a difficult situation and I suppose this is the best thing they can do, flying to Oz isn't really a viable option. I'm sure the Malaysian's will be happy.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Nice assist from Rooney for the Nani goal.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Great first malaysian goal. And Rooney is a genius.

 I think he's got everything in him to be one of the best players in the world. he just lacks the consistency to do it as often as a Ronaldo or Messi. Their was a period last season where he was just on another level to everyone but it only lasted 4-5 games. if you could produce that for longer periods I have no doubt he'd be up their.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He's just not greedy enough to be mentioned alongside the likes of Ronaldo and Messi. And I'm not just talking about assisting instead of scoring but all the back tracking and defending that he'll do while someone else is further up the pitch doing the attacking for him.
I think Sir Alex needs to tell him to go out there and do whatever the hell he wants and I'm sure we'll see more of that genius inside him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It was longer than 4-5 games YG, it was more like ten, and it's not consistency per se, it's the fact he has an amazing spell, and then gets fucking injured, and it's just a complete cycle.

Sometimes, when he's not injured, and he's on top form, the whole match just revolves around him, he's involved in everything and you simply can't touch him.

You think all is well, and then next thing he's out for four months with some silly little thing and everything goes back to shit once again.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

And then you mock me for calling Gerrard one of the best in the world.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

But Rooney's better at keeping his wife happy so she doesn't have to fuck half of Merseyside. ;)

Gerrard's better at doing nothing all game apart from taking pot shots instead of passing whenever he gets the ball.

So I guess his 25 assists in the last two seasons, were all attempted shots?

Find it funny that despite being a striker, Rooney's a worse finisher than Gerrard.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Must be.

How come Capello isn't shunting Rooney onto the left wing and building the England team round Gerrard then if he's so much better?

How come he laughed in journalists faces when they suggested playing Gerrard in the middle?

Yet, if you take away Gerrard's penalties last season, he scored more league goals, despite spending a lot of season out on the left wing.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Gerrard: 29 years old. 478 club games, 119 goals. 74 England caps 14 goals.

Rooney: 23 years old. 315 club games, 114 goals. 52 England caps 24 goals.

 :APPLAUD:
*Jumbo wins the arguement*

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Wow, a striker has scored more goals than a midfielder, great stat

I think what Abhishek is getting at is that Rooney misses far more chances whereas Gerrard is more clinical.

I await Jumbo going for a search around the net for Liverpool stats again ...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

This is why Utd fans are labelled as cunts.

Anyway, Owen is going to be a quality signing for you lot and I hope he does well. Too many LFC fans get a little carried away, it's a career at the end of the day and nothing more.

Like Fowler said, I hope Owen scores lots, but I hope Torres scores more.

Haha Abhi started all this, but it doesn't matter we were only messing, it's just a bit of banter. It doesn't make any difference who's better anyway does it?!

Nice words about Owen.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 I knew that would spark a debate. Im gutted Obertan's out for 3-4 months, I doubt we'll see much of him at all this season because of that. On the other hand can't wait for Ljajic to arrive :...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm sure you're aware that Rooney actually trained and has always played his career as a striker though?

And Gerrard has gone through his career as a midfielder? He's not long been playing behind the striker, he's had his best goalscoring seasons playing on the right-wing for example.

Or does that not suit your arguement so doesn't count?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

No it doesnt count. Rooney's been playing on the wing for a lot of the time for us.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

But is a natural striker, Gerrard is a natural midfielder. I give up
