Rumoured Players To Be Released:
D.Forlan
Kleberson
N.Butt

D.Forlan is indeed not United material, scouts went to argentina lookin for a defender and went home with rave reviews about the blonde one,big mistake.Kleberson, for the record, first brazilian to play for United, off the record, wrong first brazilian to play for us,should have been Ronnie really.Didnt get much chances(a couple of goals tho),hadnt settled down really, should be given a second chance.Butt, should be playing first eleven elsewhere in the premiership but not at United apparently.A quality player should be playing regularly, gotta go Butt, save yourself.

just when I think this season cant get any worse we put in a performance on Saturday, that was painful to watch and I feel for the lads that went down there, its not the nicest place to go at the best of times but the team really let them down, and not for the first time this year.

Its been said that this is the worst United side for a good few years and by our own standards it is, it could be a multitude of reasons cos theres been so much going on off the pitch this year that its not been good for most United supporters so feck knows how the players have got on.

Anyway we've got The Final to look forward to and fingers crossed some real quality arriving in the summer and theres always the silver lining of siddy's imminent departure, " to the nationwide f*ck off" so its not been that bad....

After the rumours about Ruud last week United fans had reason to be wary, of his three seasons this has been the hardest and by his standards its not been his best either, from missing penalty's at the start of the season to somewhat lackluster performances (albeit carrying injures) of late.

I for one would like to see him stay till he smashes every scoring record we've got and after reading the below I'm confident he'll still have a firm grip on the sacred No.10 next season.

"I'm happy at Manchester United. I recently signed a new contract and I would not have committed my future to the club if I was not happy there."

"I'm enjoying my football, the fans are second to none and any reports of me leaving are just wild rumours.

"I thought long and hard about the implications of signing a new four-year contract at United and I have no regrets whatsoever.

"I have said so many times in the past that I would be happy to see out the best days of my career at this club and nothing has changed.

"To suggest that I want to leave is ludicrous - I don't know where these stories are coming from.

"I have no desire to go to Italy or Spain. I don't care when I read in the newspaper that I am going to Real Madrid or Barcelona after this season. It's all total rubbish.

"There everyone wants to touch you, own you and approach you. I try to be as kind as possible to all my fans, but in those countries I know I couldn't cope.

"They want to be on top of you all day like they own you and that is not the life for me.

"Life where I live now is so similar to Brabant, the county in Holland where I come from. I am never homesick - that says enough, doesn't it?"

Fergie in a classic 'Check under the sauce for the pasta' moment:

"You can't trust these people. You are asking me to trust a Spaniard."

SAF, reacting to what he sees as Barca stirring trouble: "It is absolute nonsense. His agent was in here yesterday and he denies it completely."

"Would you trust these people? Would you believe them?

"Every year we hear the same thing. Real Madrid are not interested in Ronaldo, not interested in Beckham.

"All I am going to say about it is that his agent did not speak to Barcelona. He was in here on Thursday and spoke to me."

Visiting Portsmouth, a mancs view:

I suppose Portsmouth fans will have spent the weekend chiselling one out having beaten Manchester United and fair play to them. But like any United fan who was at the game I'm standing by my pre-match assessment that Portsmouth are unwelcome in our league.

I've said it before but can you imagine if we lose Manchester city or Leicester or Leeds in this deplorable relegation system for the sake of these prize goons? Write to your MP now and lets try and rid our game of the Great Escape, drums and crazy wigs and use a visit to Fratton Park as your case study.

For starters there's the ground itself. It's a shithole. I've never been so uncomfortable at a football ground in all my life. Stewards were unable to deal with ticket-less urchins trying to gain free access and where was the roof?

By half-time, with all the over-crowding, my prawn sandwiches were in a right old state as was my wifes hair. Things weren't helped by the result but I'll be requesting half my money back off Portsmouth for the state of ill-repair in which Fratton Park is.

The other half will be requested from Manchester United FC, and I use the 'FC' loosely. They're a flipping disgrace. I can't believe they would lose against some utter dog-shit team like Portsmouth. I repeat, Portsmouth are utter dog-shit. I expect better and don't pay hard-earned cash for such durge.

Me and some other Man U fanatics are thinking of filing a law-suit against Sky TV. Arduous? Arduous? Don't talk to me about arduous! An hour and a half it took me to get to the ground and for a midday kick-off. What right do they have to bestow these burdens upon us? I wouldn't have minded but I barely had enough time to get my jesters hat from the dry-cleaners before I left Sevenoaks. Zzzz.

It's like this actually - in Pompey world, where fuck all else apart from fights between divvy locals and sailors happens, the result has some resonance. However, their endless Baddiel and Skinnering masked the fact that this game meant the sum total of fuck all to Manchester United fans.

We coped with Porto, we will cope with Arsenal winning the League and we will deal with coming third if it happens. We'll do so because supporting your team is about much more than clapping along to 'The Great Escape'. If any Portsmouth fans had had their season ticket any longer than this season then they'd know what I was talking about.

They'll also be the ones without genital friction burns cos they'll be more than aware that Portsmouth aren't safe yet. With any justice they'll still sink and my fingers are still crossed that the same will happen to that island they live on. Bring on global warming.

Did Fergie actually say that? Damn, between this and the comment about diving being a "cultural thing", I'd say Sir Alex is a tad Racist.

Anyways, I hear Kleberson is playing tomorrow. Also, Ruud's partnership with Saha will be renewed.
Out of those rumors, I hope Kleberson leaving isn't true. He hasn't completed a full season yet, and just before xmas he was vastly improving IMO.

Sir Alex, racist, I dont think so, well no more than your average white dude anyway...

I think these remarks we're made in jest, when you look at what he said about Barca and Reals "lie about everything even if its true" policy he has a point its just come out as a generalisation.

good to see Ruud back tomorrow, wanna see him break the 20 league goal barrier again this season.

Hopefully, Ruud'll prove why he's so important to United.

Vanizshizlelle, what are your thoughts on Kleberson and Forlan leaving ManUtd?

I actually like Kleberson as a player, he's not featured that much but the performance that stands in my mind was the first half against Everton on Boxingday and I think it was Villa he played well against aswell. He has most qualities I like in a midfielder, nothing fancy, no more than a couple of touches and can make space for himself, he's got pretty good vision aswell. Its unfair to judge him cos he's no had the oppurtunity to shine and being a non English speaking South American in Manchester cant be easy so i'd like to see him stay another year, it took a couple of seasons for Edu to settle at Arsenal and they rate him now so hopefully Kleberson will get the same..

As for Forlan, we've gave him so much support but the one quality that endeared him to us was his attitude and now even thats gone, when he went off against Leisceter (he was AWFUL) I thought thats last we see of him, which is a shame cos he made the scousers cry

Those are exactly my thoughts on Kleberson.
Even the matches where he didn't do so well, he always had a nice idea that lacked execution or luck. When he did play well, he really impressed me. I think he needs a chance to prove himself.
Remember that back-heel pass to Forlan? :D
And don't write off Forlan so soon, I'm thinking he just had a bad day.

yeah that backheel was against Villa I think..

As for Forlan, sos mate this is his 3rd season (2nd full) he's just not up to being a United player, no big thing really I've seen better players than him fail to make the grade.

I used to defend Forlan. I know what you mean. He'd do well at a mid table club where he would be an automatic pick as he'd have a more consistent run of games. You can't give him a consistent run at United though because it's simply too important that he succeeds, and a lot of the time he doesn't succeed. :l

Everytime I think I cant dislike Wenger anymore he opens his mouth. since watching his Treble hopes dissapear down the pan he's "attempted" to discredit our wonderful feat.

Can you believe this tit of a man, first it was fixture pile up now its that our Treble was easier, how much of bad loser is this wanker...

A United supporter sums them up perfect:

Choose Arsenal. Choose overbearing arrogance. Choose systematic dirty play and calling it "competitiveness". Choose the most staged, contrived, celebrations ever witnessed. Choose winning two championships in eleven seasons and acting like you've won seven in nine. Choose to see yourselves as one of the giants of continental football when you've never even reached a European cup semi-final in your entire history. Choose having the quietest stadium in the world ("the library") as your home ground, and then having the cheek to slag Man Utd about their fans. Choose fancying yourselves as better than Real Madrid, then having Chelsea run rings around you at home. Choose turning the sports section of the Observer into a gunners fanzine. Choose getting away with light or delayed punishments at FA disciplinary hearings because you've had every possible string pulled by David Dein. Choose a persecution complex nonetheless and never shut up about it. Choose embarrassing yourselves in a Renault "va-va-voom" ad Choose George Graham grinding his way to the dullest championship win of all time. Choose picking Ray Parlour for over a decade. Choose 58 red cards in seven years. Choose bottling the treble despite having all the luck in the world. Choose Arsenal.

Really Wenger should think before he opens his mouth, as pretty as his team can play they are lacking in the bottle dept, good manager he may be he's still got a lot learn...

What's David Dein's exact positions? Do you guys think he really pulls strings? I've noticed that almost all FA disciplinary hearing are always late.

that will change from next season i think it will be a 1 week turnaround. Ive just heard on the news that loads of arrests were made accross manchester and liverpool over a possible terrorist threat on saturday at old trafford all people that were arrested were middle eastern and north african!

ive heard that united have denied this link but from what they said on the news i thinks its very true! and very scary iw will be intresting to see what fans who have tickets for the game say!

Drove past the takeaway last night and this morning, not as many police this morning but last night it was heaving.

How true this is, no-one knows, we had a similar situation last year which resulted in the death of a policeman, that too was supposed to be a terrorist threat but after the initial incident nothing came of it. I think the same will happen here.

Whether OT was a target again nobody knows, it makes sense as a terrorist target I suppose, I mean there not gonna go to citehs stadium cos its never full.

Well i'm still going tonite and I've defo going on Sunday threat or not, isnt a better place to "go" !!

good win over charlton, now onto the scouse who would you play to cover scholes then ? + who's gonna be the keeper for the match ?

i reckon p.neville will come into the squad but id also like to see fletcher play in the middle but djemba will probably get another start, i reckon howard will start aswell

A recent article I read at soccernet.com which seems to touch on Fergie's comments. It's seems I'm not the only one to take notice:

Dastardly Foreigners

Phil Ball

In an attempt to escape from football over the Easter period I travelled to England, where they allegedly play a game answering to this description. During my stay, I caught fleeting glimpses of it on the television, but it failed to engage my attention for longer than a few seconds. Driven thus to the written word, I purchased an excellent book entitled 'Shite's Unoriginal Miscellany', a title that describes the contents to perfection.

The man in question suffers in the sunshine as United lose at Portsmouth. (MikeEgerton/Empics)

Within this erudite work I learned two important things - one; that there are sixteen breeds of sheep that one may not have heard of, and two; that there is a school of thought called 'solipsism'. I vaguely remember the second from my university days, but I never understood it. As to the sheep, I was interested to learn that of these obscure breeds, one is called a 'Scotch Blackface'.

This seemed to sum up very eloquently my feelings towards Sir Alex Ferguson this weekend as I resumed this column, post-vacation. Not only that, but it would seem that Manchester United's desperate manager, now firing random bullets at all the unseen enemies that he would wish to blame for his own team's failings, has decided to sign up to the belief that 'the only thing that one can be sure of is one's own existence, and that true knowledge of anything else is impossible'.

That's a definition of the first one - 'solipsism'.

Excuse the arcane beginning, but as the guardian of this column about Spanish football, I feel compelled to begin with a defence of the culture in question. I read with interest on Saturday's return flight that Fergie had got a bit hot under the collar regarding referee Graham Poll's suggestion that the Manchester United full-back, Gary Neville, was a 'cheat'.

I don't know whether he is or not, but even if he were, Ferguson would be unlikely to admit it. Poll had remarked at a ref's meeting that it was very 'clear that players are excelling at simulation', in reference to the fact that he thought he should (with hindsight) have booked Neville in the recent game against Arsenal.

Be that as it may, Ferguson responded, with some justification, that it was odd that Poll should single out Neville. Whilst this is true, Ferguson's anger was clearly of the 'everyone hates Man Utd' model, never the most objective of perspectives.

To also be fair to Poll, he obviously required an example. But worse was to come from the flying Scotsman. Rapidly losing the plot, the knighted gentleman of the realm proffered the opinion that diving, the 'simulation' to which Poll had been alluding, was 'something that foreign players have brought into the English game' - by which I assume he meant by extension things like ball control, accurate passing, good defending, good nutritional habits and so on.

It's a pity that when some English players go abroad they are occasionally imprisoned for pillaging and roasting the neighbourhood, whilst with some minority exceptions they have absolutely no influence whatsoever on the foreign game, but we'll overlook those little problems.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy - the root cause of Fergie's xenophobic outburst? (Photography/GettyImages)

One foreigner that Ferguson obviously would never accuse of cheating is Ruud Van Nistlerooy, and for this reason alone he is reluctant to lose him. Apparently the Dutchman's agent, Roger Linse, had been chatting to Barcelona officials recently, but Fergie claimed that this was untrue.

Then again, if he were so convinced that Linse had been nowhere near a Barça employee then his subsequent outburst made little sense: 'You can't trust these people. You are asking me to trust a Spaniard. Just look at Real Madrid, who were apparently not interested in Ronaldo and not interested in Beckham'.

Excuse me for being a trifle politically correct, but does this not amount to calumny and xenophobia of the lowest order? I still fail to understand why Ferguson has not been asked to 'explain his comments', as the official refrain goes. One cannot question referees, one cannot question FIFA, but it seems fair game to accuse the Spanish, en masse, of being untrustworthy. Or perhaps if one is a knight of the realm the occasional faux pas can be overlooked?

We might as well go back to the days when black players were deemed ok, but only until the winter set in. Never trust a Spaniard eh? Well - that's a bit rich coming from a man who seemed perfectly happy to do business with Barcelona last year. When Ferguson, like Henry II before him, cried in anguish from his throne, 'Will no-one rid me of this turbulent priest?' (Beckham), Barça answered the call.

Or perhaps the surrogate father meant that he never wanted to sell Beckham after all - for which reason he left him on the bench against Real Madrid last year so that the sneaky Spaniards might never know what a good player he was.

Interesting too that Ferguson speaks of never trusting agents (especially foreign ones) when he was quite happy to meet one in a hotel in Lisbon in 2000, with a view to buying Luis Figo. It was a funny coincidence that Figo just happened to play in the same position as Beckham - but Ferguson's plans were busted up again by those untrustworthy Spaniards, and the Portuguese winger went to Real Madrid, Beckham's ultimate destination.

Of course, the Spaniards do dive quite a lot, but then again so do English players. As ITV pundit Andy Townsend quite rightly remarked, the foreigners just do it better. Anyway, Ferguson might be getting on a bit, but there's no excuse for such stuff. What sort of example does it set? What sort of message does it convey? He's been a great manager, but with the exception of José Antonio Reyes, it's not Spain's fault that Arsenal are about to win the English Premiership.

United to hand Rio new deal
Manchester United have held talks about extending Rio Ferdinand's contract until 2009. England defender Ferdinand, currently serving an eight-month ban for missing a drugs test, will improve his £60,000 a week deal which runs out in three years.

United are Evra-ready
Manchester United want to sign Monaco's talented left-back Patrice Evra for £6m. The 22 year old has played in every Champions League game for his side this season as the French club look set for their first final after this week's 3-1 victory over Chelsea in Monte Carlo. Contact has been made with his representatives and Starsport understands that Evra would welcome a summer move to United.
