Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Looking forward to the FA Cup match against Portsmouth on Saturday, make a nice change from the stress of the league. I hope we rest Ronaldo, Ferdinand and Evra.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

So that means the last 8 are:

Manchester United
Arsenal
Chelsea
Schalke 04
Barcelona
AS Roma
Liverpool/Inter
Fenerbahce

Schalke or Fenerbahce would appear to be the 'easiest' teams to be drawn against, but it doesn't really matter because you've got to beat whoever you get anyway to win.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

I want Schalke without a doubt. Bar their keeper's heroics they looked average against a ten man Porto and are doing poorly domestically.

We all know that Chelsea will draw them though, they get all the luck with the draws this season. :(

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

that's a tough draw , in fact that Fenerbahce and Schalke really did manage to win against some hard teams i'm sure they won't be that easy to beat like most thinks.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

How many European Cups have French clubs won then Thomas? Have a think about it.

Anyway why did you take Marseille away from your profile? Don't support them anymore?
I speak about that ? no, read better my posts

That would be a fair draw, IF we get through.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Actually,it does not matter who we face in the quarter finals. All the teams that made it to this stage are by far the best teams in the competition.I like the theory of 'eating the ugliest frog first'...so,bring on Barcelona,I say!

Also looking forward to the FA cup this weekend when Pompey come visiting.A few of the first teamers need a rest and I hope they get rotated for this game.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

I think it's the beard. He's the opposite of samson.

Agree about Rooney, really mature performance. Too bad about being forced to play striker. Alone.

Lyon played incredibly negatively, more or less sat two banks of 4 in their half until the last 20 minutes. Benzema really, really impressed me today. The ball stuck to his foot everytime he got it, and he turned and ran at the defenders with no fear. Obviously Rio and Vidic kept him pretty firmly in their pockets, but still, he looks the real deal. Anything under £20m I say do it, and our team is 'done'.

benzema has said time and again that he doesn't want to play in the EPL. He won't be joining MU anytime soon, most likely never.

I think we're both hitting the language barrier at times and both gettng the "wrong end of the stick" because English isn't your first language, no offence Thomas. It's still far better than my French though! :)

I did notice your avatar and it's very...erm...how do you say it, "visqueux"! ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Anyone else slightly dubious of this Ronaldo as a centre forward thing? No doubt he has the attributes, but he doesn't really have the instinct, and I'm not sure that's something that can be taught. You think of players like Larson, RVN, Raul etc - they don't have amazing speed or skill, but they do know where to be and when to be there, for all his skill I worry that he doesn't have the nous to manage a CF role. Then again, I'd still prefer him to Rooney alone up front, so there you go.

Pretty big game on Saturday, hoping we don't take our eyes off the prize. Portsmouth are no mugs, and very good away from home. We'll probably start in a 442 with Park, Giggs, Scholes and Hargo supporting Saha and Tevez. Should be good enough, but I worry fergie's getting into this rotation thing a bit much!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

We need to rest players for the cup but keep playing the same eleven in the league and Europe otherwise we'll slip up. You don't see Wenger fucking about with his team - if it's not broke, DON'T fix it.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

I finally scanned my photos of the last home match of the 2002-2003 season where we beat Charlton 4-1 and prayed that Leeds could do us a favour on the Sunday away to Arsenal (which they did!). It was Beckham's last match in a United shirt at Old Trafford too.

i'd sign now with a draw like this:DD

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Arsenal V Roma

Man Utd V Barcelona

Schalke V Liverpool

Chelsea V Fenerbahce ...:) thats my prediction, Arsenal and Roma would be sweet with the football they play

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

sounds like Henry before leaving to barca

yeah maybe when benzema is 30-years old, plagued by numerous injuries, and needs to make way for younger players, he'll change his mind.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Big game tomorrow lads. Any predictions?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

yeah make room for the FaCup trophy abit tight :))

You mean,we gotta make room in the cabinet for the FA Cup mate? :DD

I hate teams coming to OT playing the rigid 4-5-1 and Pompey will play that.We must be clinical and ruthless to be able to beat them because they are a hard side.Their midfield has vastly improved with Sulley Muntari,Lasanna Diarra and Papa Bouba Diop.I also believe Nico Krancjar is vastly underrated.Their nippy strikers,Defoe and Baros will give Rio and Vida problems with their speed.

Having said that,I still think we will go through and I bet Rooney will have a say in that.C'MON UNITED!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Defoe is cup tied isn't he? Should be an easy win for United IMO.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

:| CMON UNITED PLEASE :| WE NEED A FUCKIN GOAL I CAN'T BELEIVE WERE FUCKIN 1 DOWN

TREBLE IS OVER:((:((:((:((:((:((:((:sick::sick::sick::-##:-##:-##:-##:rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant:](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,):?:?:confused::cry::cry::cry::eek:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Well, you seriously thought about the treble this early??

Anyways, United didn't have luck on their side. Pompy defended out of their skins, and with some luck, managed to win. They deserved it IMO, everyone gave their 100%. Delighted for Pompy and Harry, it is great to see mid table sides doing so well.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

And another match where United's need for a plan B was shown.
