Manchester United Thread

And its not as if you guys havent had your fair share of dodgy things going your way huh antred? its all swings and roundabouts.... as RuneEdge said what about "That Goal" against Chelsea in the champions league? The whole of the ball wasnt over the line.... You ended up winning that didnt you? And what about Dudek during the Penalty Shoot Out? Jumping Forward off of his Line? isnt that against the rules?

Dj

Wrong, wrong wrong.

Chelsea benefitted from that because they would have lost their keeper and conceeded a pen.

They still had most of the match to get back in the game rather than maybe conceed from a pen and be a man down.

Lke Steven "I'm a fecking diving cunt, but nothing's said cause i'm english" Gerrard did yesterday. Stop being so bitter, They make shite wine you know mate, Sour grapes.

Played for it? yes. Penalty? Definetely.

If you bothered to watch the clip again you'll see the defender with his arms out trying to block off Gerrard. Gerrard lets the ref know whats happening and the ref keeps and eye on the situation. Then the dozy defender, under the gaze of the ref, grabs gerrard around the waist and they both fall over.

So while Gerrard played for it, the defender only has himself to blame.

And in fact its great to see a ref take a stand on this issue. how many times has terry or Carvalho blocked off illegally in the box? or Carvalho held an opponent and dragged him to the ground?

Loads of times.

If you bother to wath the Lille game that you've mentioned you'll see the attackers arms pushing into Vidic's back. So while Vidic played for it, the attacker only has himself to blame.

Yes, they REALLY benefitted when it cost them the tie.

So did every team that got screwed by the "biased" decisions against Man Utd.

The same could be said for EVERY dive. But thats obviously not true cuz its perfectly legal to get stuck in for a good tackle. The fact that the penalty was played for rules out any benefit that Gerrard should have got cuz if it WAS a perfect tackle, Gerrard would have looked like even more of a retard when he hit the floor. The defender did nothing more than just covered it up by going in to prevent the goal, he didnt do anything wrong himself.

At first I thought you were only messing about like Dermot does but now you're actually sounding you believe all the bullshit you've been saying.

I dont have you down as dumb but THAT is dumb. When Liverpool scored it was within the first ten minutes of the game. yes they lost EVENTUALLY but they stood more chance than they would have a man down and a possible goal against with the pen.

what like fulham?

Tackle? what are you on about? he was being HELD at a corner.

POSSIBLE is the key word there. Without actually knowing if the penalty would have been scored, that arguement means nothing.

We didnt screw them in the last minute, that was a perfectly good goal.

You're obviously talking about another incident then.
I've had enough of this crap. You deciding to bring this up in the one season where we're actually topping the table in over 3 years shows me its nothing more than jealousy. Moan in your own thread, not here.

Guys lets move on - Antred is a bitter man as United are so CLOSE to winning the trophy that Liver "the best team in Britain" pool have NEVER won! Actually, when was the last time Liverpool won the title, it's been so long I can't remember!

heh heh, because you were only born in 1990 probably.

Yahoo! point proved!!!!!!!! :applause:

Now you know what its like to have a sniper constantly in your thread, having a go at your club (but thankfully no poor taste insults to yourselves or your fans).

I'll leave you girls to blush over Ronaldo now. Such a shame it will be the tale of two evils winning the league this year but there you go.

And just think Alucard was 10 times worse than my mild observations about United this season.

Mild delusions more like. You're very quick to point out anything that goes in our favour but gloss over it when it happens to you. Truth is, you wanted Fulham to win so much that it made you irrational.

You're right about Alucard though.

You might want to edit that quote.

I'd be happy with a point against the Scousers. They're strong at the moment. 10 points with gioal difference would be a great cushion and would allow us a fuck up.

Typical Cynical Twat! Go back to your Liverpool thread and continue your trip down memory lane..... As that is all you have got! Either that or go and support Chelsea or something!!!

The 3 points would be great not just for our total and to make the lead bigger but it would be a huge psychological blow to Chelsea too. They must be expecting us to drop points.

I must admit we have been outstanding at home this year. I think United have a chance BUT only if we turn in a dour performance. If we play like we can at home it will be tough for United. If we play like we did against Eerton where we were under par we will struggle. Playing an attacking game as United might at Anfield could leave you open.

Also the last two or three league games at Anfield between us, last year was a defensive United line up and a 0-0 and the previous two were cagey affairs won by bad Dudek errors (rooneys shot under him, Giggs cross etc) so it will be interesting to see what happens this time around.

And im not being arrogant when i say that. Away from home we've been really weak, such as our pathetic performance at OT, but at home we look completely different and i fully expect to take the points from all our homegames. Also we have a nearly full compliment of squad which is good.

Maybe SAF will play it safe having already got a 9 point lead? Who knows.

I think he will too. Try to catch you on the break because a draw would be a massive result really.

BTW im not saying United cant win outright because they are good enough too, but if we play like we can United will have to turn in a dazzling performance to achieve it.

I think with macherano/alonso/gerrard in the middle of the park (if they're deployed similar to this weekend - or whoever was always around gerrard/macherano) will run scholes/carrick off the pitch. You can see that Scholes is just starting to fade, particularl yin the lille and then fulham matches. Before then one of them was ALWAYS available, to defenders looking upfield and to attackers looking back for support. They've stopped running as much, and because of this you've got vidic/neville launching long balls towards larsson, who doesn't really look like making much of them. Proves why we need Hargreaves really.

Believe it'll be extremely tough to beat the scousers at home, as you say, they've been very impressive there. I doubt very much that it will be fast flowing football, rafa showed how good he is at breaking that kind of thing up. I expect Ronaldo to be double-teamed for the whole match, and I'm quite sure that everything i do is okay because I'm english Gerrard will kick the crap out of Ronaldo at a few points, to which the crowd will cheer, the ref will laugh and the commentators will accuse Ronaldo of diving. But yeah. Lets see Rooney score again, just for the celebrations.

rafa might play gerrard left because we are weak in that area with no Auriello or Kewell and deploy sissoko with Alonso and Ronaldo could exploit that.

On beachryans note above...as a serious question is there any worry from you guys about the impending finishing of the careers of Neville, VDS, Giggs and Scholes and Solksjaer? I cant say i've seen any replacements good enough to replace them at United and it will be the end of a glorious era of players for you guys, they are once in a lifetime kind of quality that will be hard to replace.

Not worried about VDS cuz Foster and Kuszczak are more than capable of filling in. Solskjaer is hardly used so he wont be missed on the pitch.
Neville, Giggs and Scholes do worry me though. I personally dont think we'll directly replace Scholes but we'll find someone different to do a job there instead. Plus with Rooney dropping back, we get a bit of what Scholes provides around the box. Just like how Carrick hasnt directly replaced Keane but he's still doing a good job there.
There are a few players in the world who could be brought in for Giggs but I doubt many of them would join us which is the biggest concern.
As for Neville, its his presence that will be the hardest to replace. Technically on the pitch it shouldnt be too hard to find a replacement. Who knows, we might even find someone who can shoot.

dunno about kusczak, good keeper but such a different level. I think Foster has promise when i saw him at `Anfield before christmas.

well, if we get Hargreaves, him and Carrick in the middle of the park would be pretty nice if I do say so myself

I agree with Hutch, Scholes has another good season in him at least. His game doesn't rely on pace, it's all technique which he has in abundance.

News that Deco is set to leave Barca at the end of the season is floating around today, not sure if he'd want to come to england but he would be the perfect signing for us, yeah he's 29 but his european experience would be priceless cos its one area where we are lacking.

I'm looking forward to tonight, will be kinda difficult and unlikely that we will go thru IMO although of course I would love to proven wrong....

A big incentive to reach the semis is that if either us or chelsea reach that stage of the fa cup the league game at stamford bridge will be moved, chelsea are banking on that game being 3 points where they could close the gap, especially if the mickeys beat us on saturday, if thats gets moved it could end up being meaningless.....

That's a really good point.

Also, I'd be gutted if the FA looked at that battle and banned lots of Chelsea players for 3 games each.
