Ah, a true fan, good to see you take a look in that NFL thread now and again for potential signings Man United might need to make in their depth chart in the off season, they are looking a bit weak on the defensive line for next term and I doubt they can make the playoffs unless they find strong outside guards to hold that pocket long enough for Rooney to get off the pass before the blitz gets to him.

Don't let this 3-1 scoreline fool you now guys, it's merely a few extra planks of wood keeping the entire ship above water here and I think the majority of you all know that but are afraid to admit it. This plane is headed for a crash landing here in the near future. The look of tension on the face of Ferguson says it all, he's looking for a way to bail out, you can tell by the body language when he was walking out of the tunnel for the start of the second half but there are no parachutes on board. Glazier has him stuck right where he wants him, as the mustard on the bread of the baloney sandwich that is Manchester United. Where was Rooney today in this game? Where was he hiding? Benfica matched them pound for pound, wait til they meet a big European club of stature if they are barely scraping past Benfica like this.

Great response from going 1-0 down from an unstobbale goal. Completly bossed the game after that, breath taking attacking play. Well done on the prediction beboquintero no red cards though ;) Prediction for the United/City game on Saturday so I can run down to the bookies ?

It still kinda bothers me that we had to conceed before playing like we know we could. If that was a better team or one that was more organised defensively, it might have been too late already.

You were a bit like this agaisnt Celtic and that is what cost you that game. It is something you will need to get over if you want to go far in the tournament.

To be fair though United have needed alot of kicks up the backsides to get them going, at least so far this season it as paid off maybe besides europe against Copenhagen and Celtic but them two in respect are difficult places to go to.

Did I read Dermot put where was Rooney tonight ? Every player has their off day and it wasnt as though he played terrible. Maybe tonight he was in the same place Henry has been for the past 4 months!
 
I think the lads were a bit nervous at the start.They kinda not know if they should attack from the start of just hold up.The bolt from Nelson made it all clear to be honest.3 goals from 3 superb headers.(I'm a fan of headed goals!) Nemonster Vidic does it again! It was a great typical european night nonetheless.I think Dermot is honestly a man united fan.He actually watched our game instead of the Arse's tie with Porto! I'm sure his belly is full now after eating back his words most of the time...
 
Well played chaps, well impressed with Vidic now. Had my doubts at first but he has now proved himself to be a quality signing.

Look at the teams who we\you can face in the next round and there are some big names in there! Its gonna be exciting.
 
Don't you feel that the cup is there for the taking. There are not that many teams to be really scared of. In the 90's there seemed to be more dangerous teams. I'm only really worried about Lyon and Barca... and the other English teams.
 
Yes there is no one to fear.. maybe, maybe Barcelona, but other than that I don't mind who we come up against. If we are going to win the competition we have to beat the best. We are not going to be playing stoke city in the final so we have to play the bigger teams in the last 16 regardless. Here are the possibities

Madrid (now with a good defense but are in a transitional team,)
Barcelona (Good if we can avoid)
Inter (have good individuals but not an outstanding period)
Roma (have a poor defense and slow aging players)
PSV (United have better quality players)
Porto (diving merchants but I would take them in the next round)
Lille(Not seen too much of them to judge)

Lyon - A very dangerous fluid attacking side that is as good as barcelona on their day. A team we might want to avoid but would provide an interesting spectacle should we meet.

Satisfied?
 
We couldnt play Lyon in the next round anyway since they topped thier group aswell. Id like to take Lille since in comparison theyre the weakest and we cocked up against em last season in the Champions League. Would be nice to make amends eh?

yeah he never sets up his teamates or hustles back on defense, or draws fouls outside the box, or holds the ball up some others can join up for the attack... his name is rooney not Shevchenko, has that guy played yet for chelsea?

I'd love to play Real, partly because we need revenge for the last two times we've met, partly cause I wan't to see Ruud and Becks play against us, and partly because it would be two fantastic games and I think we could pwn them

I don't want Barca, under no circumstances do I want Barca, especially if Ronaldinho is starting to show glimpses of form again
