Also..if we did have Ferdinand, we could have experimented with a 3-5-2 formation :p

Would allow at least 3 of the 4 wingers to get some first team action..

Doubt it would be successful thouhg.

just came back from a week without any connection with the outer-world....and here's what i have to say...

Owen here might be nice, Ballack (still hoping, but...sigh)
Great to see we did good in those 2 friendlies

WHY WAS PHIL NEVILLE GONE???? NO!!!!! I LOVED THAT GUY!!!!!! hope it won't hurt Gary much

Owen is linked with Newcaslte too but im sure if it came down to NUFC and MUFC, you would win.

"Sunday Express Sport can reveal that Manchester United were ready to throw in Ryan Giggs as a makeweight to lure Michael Owen from Real Madrid."

I know Giggs is relatively old, but he still kicks ass- first Phil Neville then this, let's hope not. If they don't get rid of some of the chaff (kleb, saha et al.) then they should SPEND some of the Glazers' cash or even have allow the fans to donate money online for Owen :) . Are there 11 million man u fans willing to give a £1 :D

Newcastle will become the first English club to launch an official bid for Michael Owen. News of the World can reveal Toon chairman Freddy Shepherd will this week offer Real Madrid £11million for the England striker. Talks have already taken place between Newcastle and Owen's representatives SFX. Toon boss Graeme Souness confirmed last night: "Like any Premier League manager I would like Michael Owen. You will have to ask the chairman what the latest situation is, but you can take it we have spoken to him." Kleb's going to leave, just looking for the right price I think. I would imagine he'll do quite well somewhere else, but didn't cut it with United. We'll see about Owen. If we sell Kleb for a bit, we acutally wont' have spent any money this transfer window...park and vds balanced out by phil and kleb. Not particularly comforting, considering the age of a bunch of our core. I still hvae faith in SAF, i think someone big is coming...just don't know who.

Thats the good thing. We're paying off the money used for signings with our sales. So we should have a lot of money left over from Glazers.

As for Owen, I dont see why he'd go to Newcastle. I mean, didnt he leave Liverpool to find greater success? Newcastle is a bigger step back than where Liverpool were at the time he left for Real Madrid. So he'll only be looking for a club at the level of Liverpool atleast.

According to foxsportsworld, sold Kleberson to Besiktas. Hopefully for at least 3 mil, though it doesn't say yet. He's there on Monday to complete a medical. Two sold, wheres the money going...hrm...?

Ouch! hahaha...at least we've sold Kleberson and Djemba-Djemba.I again stress that we shouldnt have sold Phil Neville.Then again,we got a player like him in Park Ji-Sung.Still waiting for that experienced midfielder to come in,a striker perhaps,in Owen and after Kleberson left,there is room for one more player.Its all good.

Manchester United have denied making a move for England international Michael Owen.

"Owen would appear to be available for transfer from Real Madrid and it had been claimed that The Red Devils had joined Newcastle in the pursuit of the speedy striker.

A spokesman for Real Madrid stated United had made an enquiry, but the Old Trafford outfit have been quick to pour cold water on the report.

"We have had no contact with Real Madrid over Michael Owen," stated Manchester United communications director Phil Townsend.

The denial from Manchester is sure to come as a relief to Newcastle, as they are eager to recruit Owen and the path could be clear for them to thrash out a deal.

The stumbling block could be Owen's reticence to join Newcastle, due to their failure to secure a place in Europe, and he may well hold out for a bigger move"

Paying off your 500m debt! I think Fegie is taking a huge gamble on midfield unless someone comes in! If Keanes out and Smith doesnt cut it what then!?

Need a midfielder next year anyway so makes no difference and there is always the Jan window.

Perhaps I don't understand the football managers bargaining mentality, but all this we don't want him, we're not linked to him, we're making an official press statement saying we've not contacted you about him, does all that mean we're not trying to sign Owen? Cause I just don't see why not :(

Anyone on here ever bother to read foxsportsworld's site? Last year they predicted United would finish 5th, this year 4th. I don't get why they hate us so... ;)

So if SAF has a trick up his sleeve in the transfer market, and we have Champs League tomorrow, first premiership Saturday, shouldn't he be about ready to show his cards? I fear he's got nothing, which conincidentally may well be what United have at the end of the year.

Unless of course SAF really believes that the current team is good enough. But can he really?

Owen here...me starting to see more of a need....but if we don't get Saha off, then would be waste.....cause we will have way too much strikers!!!
