I think Stewart Downing could be a good option to Manchester United, but having Quinton Fortune they would be able to utilize him more, I think the south african player could be in the initial team.

 Exactly

Sky Sports -

Gianluigi Buffon has poured cold water on speculation linking him with a move away from Juventus.

The Italy international has proven to be one of the finest in Europe over the past couple of seasons and has reportedly caught the eye of both Real Madrid and Manchester United.

However, the talented custodian has moved to reaffirm his contentment in Turin - with a desire to win trophies at Juve clearly his top priority.

''I won't go to either Real or Manchester,'' said Buffon.

''Madrid's Latin quality would appeal to me, but there aren't any presuppositions.

''In Juve's dressing room there is the feeling of a big effort to win the Champions League.

''In football, it's known that the targets are World Cup, European Championship and Champions League and we at Juve, want the latter.

''Champions League is our obsession.

''It isn't for me a lack of desire for the national team but it seems easier to win the Champions League.''

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

I think its unfair on other teams cuz if they win the title by three points, Chelsea are gonna start bitching.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

Unfair to the other teams?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

Forget about the 3 point crap!

They fine Chelsea £300,000 and Cole £200,000????

What a joke the club broke the rules should of fine them min of 500,000

O and should of bee deducted points last season and more than 3!

PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously its unfair for Chelsea but if the decision was in my hands, I wouldnt deduct those points cuz it wont feel like a real victory if anyone wins the title by 3 points.
Winning the title is supposed to prove you're the best in the country but now it wont mean that. I just hope no one wins the title by 3 points.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

You have to be the best team in all respects, on and off the field.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

I don't take the above comment seriously BTW. I'm just saying because it's Chelsea.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

its a suspended three points! wont affect them unless they do it again!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

I thought suspended meant until next season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

Jamie Mack may be right. It could mean that the deduction is suspended until they do it again.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

It's in case they do it again!
Chelsea should have got an heavier fine. At least the difference from cole's fine should have been bigger. One might think that it was Cole who contacted Chelsea! maybe it was? o.O

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

OK. So now that Chelsea KNOW the punishment, I think many people wont be so sorry if they tapped up someone again and lost 3 points.
But then again, there was that Rio incident so technically, they've already done it twice.

Figo wants Premier rescue
Luis Figo has begged for a move to Liverpool or Manchester United after being shown the door at Real Madrid. Real have told the Portuguese midfield Galactico, 32, he can leave for a nominal fee after falling out of favour with coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
Figo has been kept out of the Real team by David Beckham and now admits he would fancy a move to the England skipper’s old club United or European champions Liverpool. Yet UEFA Cup hopefuls Bolton and Middlesbrough are more likely to bid. Figo said: “I have always said the Premiership is a competition I would like to play in one day. I have been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United and I think both of those clubs are fantastic.”

Fergie in for Park player
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has set up a shock deal for PSV Eindhoven's South Korean star Ji-Sung Park. The 24-year-old all-action midfielder is due to have talks with United after a secret swoop was set up by Ferguson, who watched him in action in the Champions League. Park, who scored a stunner against AC Milan in the sem-final, is a workaholic midfielder who would bring a new dimension to United. Park can also play on the wing and would give cover for Cristiano Ronaldo and competition for Ryan Giggs. PSV will sell because Park's contract is running out. Insiders claim the fee may be as low as £3million - and United could recoup the fee quickly off the pitch. Park would help them crack the Asian market where he was recently voted 'most favourite athlete'. Signing Park would let United sell Kleberson, with Portuguese side Benfica expected to revive their interest in the £1.5million Brazilian. And Wigan believe United's Phil Neville is the ideal player to bring experience and versatility to them as they start in the Premiership. He could go for around £2.5m.

Fergie has Green on his wanted list
Manchester United have Norwich City goalkeeper Robert Green on their list of candidates for the No.1 position at Old Trafford. On the day Green admitted for the first time that he may have to leave relegated Norwich this summer, it emerged that United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is keeping tabs on his situation. Green said: "If you have England aspirations you have to prove yourself at the highest level."

Luis Figo will definitely join us.He has a good understanding with Carlos Queiroz and Cristiano Ronaldo will also learn a lot from his idol! We need Figo to save ourselves!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

I get a feeling that Ruud will start hammering those goals in again if Figo joins. I think Figo might THE player that we need.
I think a 4-3-3 with Ronaldo and Figo on the wings will be great. Just like how Portugal did it.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

I dont agree that hes the one United needs, hes 33 soon and hes allowed to leave, and he lost his spot to Beckham. His Euro 2004 performance was mediocre at best. If he was really that good at this time, he would have been asked to remain instantly.

Whats the point of signing someone 33 to be a starter if youve got younger wingers and midfielders who are established internationals? instead of fading ones.

Exactly. For the past three seasons of the SPL, Figo has been pretty crap IMO. Once in a while he'll show a hint of genius during a certain match then that's it.
Last season he was especially horrible. Figo, along with Raul, were bullshitting their way through the season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

But we still only have Giggs and Ronaldo as wingers so Figo would still help us.
I mean its not like theres a big age difference between Figo and Giggs is there?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

I mean, Giggs isnt that consistant anyway. And what if either Giggs or Ronaldo is injured?

Unless we get Vicente (which I really hope we do), Figo will have to do.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rio to Barca??

The problem is that I don't think we should 'settle' for Figo. Fergie should be going for THE best wingers in the world. We missed out on both Duff and Robben, we should either get Vincente or Downing, depending on our tranfer budget.
What I really want though is for fergie to surprise with new talent, like he's done with Ronnie and how Wenger has with Cesc. Although it is unreasonable for me to expect that.
