Vannizzlefashizzal What do you make of our Boxing Day fixture this year? Remember `Boro last season? We played shite that day, lets bang them in this year. Like you commented earlier, we are in a much better position, more points than last year etc with Ole and the boys to come in. Its all good.
It so reassuring to see the Ginger Prince back, too! :D

I cant wait mate, last year we hit a little slump at xmas (we'd lost away to rovers the game previous) and never really looked up for the game, with this being at home I fancy our chances, another factor last season was that Blanc played that game and had a mare.

But a boxingday game against the dippers at three oclock, doesnt get much better than that, confidence should be high the players are up for it, especially now with this Rio thing, so we should stuff em'!!!

It'll be the boro game after that, that will be a tough one, Boro are a bit of a bogey team for us.

Lets sum up the season highlights for the Red Devils so far:
Well, we had the opener against Bolton, 4-0 and that Ronaldo debut. A good win at Newcastle, a bad day at Southampton, the dull Arsenal match, Ruud smashing the crossbar and the scuffle which followed. Things were OK afterwards, a great run in the Champions League (apart from the Stuttgart defeat) we beat the Scousers on their turf (again), but go on to achieve the double against Rangers (showing the differences between the Premiership and the SPL, we lose to the new Roman revoultion in Chelsea, revenge on Stuttgart and beat the Shitty!!!!!! Run in to Xmas, with a win at weak Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea throw away points with the lead-up, leaving the Premiership Champions in the numero uno spot. What have I left out? Merry Xmas!

Im gonna be frank (dont know who your gonna be) there havent been many highlights from this season so far and its only been very recently that my juices have started flowing for the game again due to a few nasty incidents ive been involved with.

BUT!!!

I will say all in all 2003 has been a fantastic year my highlights from that would have to be...

The 6-2 at Newcastle, and the geordies singing "who put the ball in the geordies net, half of man united".....

Forlan smashing his left foot thru the ball and getting the winner against Chelsea....

The United Real 1/4 final!!

Us giving Ronaldo a standing ovation afer scoring a hat-trick and ending our dream (just shows we truly are a class apart)....

Going to highbury and playing them off the park, Ruuds chip, henry's two offside goals and Giggs equalising, Fergie on the pitch C'MON!!!!

Kewells goal against the arse bandits...

Viduka's goal against the arse bandits....

Beating the scousers 4-0 at OT (says it all)

Powers & Co re-enacting dudeks cock-up infront of the scousers at OT..

Going to Merseyside and reclaiming Our Trophy (the only time its been on merseyside)

Veron's world class performance away to Juve, beating them 3-0!!

Giggs gettin 8/10 in the gazzetta (its rumoured Maradonna got a 9 once)

Verons goal against olympionpanathayouknowwhoimean.....

Keano making them eat their words....

Watching a legend unfold before my eyes.....

Ruud's 44 goals, top scorer in The Prem top scorer in The CL!!

CHAMPIONS!!

No, I'm sorry, that's just not right.

Hesky'd even miss that.....

More news to add weight to the Viduka transfer, Fergie was at the Boo Camp last nite watching city play leeds. Its well known that Fergie rates a few of the leeds players, and has been linked with move's in the past for Smith and Viduka plus young Milner has just signed with one of his sons sporting agencies.

Personally I think its gonna be Viduka, he didnt really play that well last nite, but leeds as a whole we're piss poor.

So we could have a No.9 again.........

who'd ya rather prefer vnn?viduka, saha or anelka?i wouldnt be surprised if he was actually checkin out anelka instead.i know he's cup tied in europe and all but there are rumours goin round that its gonna be anelka.your thoughts?

haha IMO, not a chance. Anelka is sh*te, one of the most overated players of the past 5/6 years. If he wasnt good enough for you's he's got no chance with Us.

It was rumoured to be the signing that Fergie would go for though (and I wound up my mate about it for ages) but I just dont see it, he looks like a moody lazy twat and as he wont get alot of 1st team football he'd just be a problem.

Viduka is perfect for us he's more refined than Saha and I could see him playing with Ruud or Ole and doing the bizzness, he's a clever player and playing with the likes of Ruud, Scholesy, Giggs will only make him better IMHO.

JimJoeC said:
What about Forlan though, surely he's more prolific than Vid?? Especially the last six months.

Forlan likes to shoot from distance or hit things first time so his game is based more around confidence opposed to natural ability, but he's got very good shot tech and like most south americans is confident with either foot.

But (and here lies the problem) his 1st touch and close control is terrible, he doesnt read the game well or have the best awareness, hence his team mates (read Ruud) get frustrated with him. This I put down to his youth, we usually get strikers when they are just hitting their peak, mid to late 20's, he has raw talent and has improved but still not an adequate replacement for either Ole or Ruud.

JimJoeC said:
But a striker is judged on goals more than anything else.

Where is Solskjaer BTW?

Yeah I s'pose from an outsiders point of view but when you go to the games you see that other than the odd goal his contributions are pretty low, the supporters have been very patient with him though and he scored a few important goals last season and hopefully he'll get even better.

Ole's had a bad injury he'll be back next month, thank fuck, lol even Keano, when talking about the injuries to the squad was saying, "we've just got Scholesy back, Wes is due back and please god, we get Ole back soon"

Could be talking about Wiltord there. I would rather have Forlan anyday of the week.

well wiltords arsenal days are rumoured to numbered, I think he's a decent player but he never really got to grips with the game over here.

viduka would be an excellent buy for ya lot unfortunately.i would love to have him with us but houllier'd rather players in the calibre of emily heskey!!!anelka on the other hnd is a very, very good player IMO as well.it wsnt that he's not good enough for us,houllier..... well, you get the point.he was the one that got away for us.we would definitely have him back anytime.thank f*ck if ya lot dont get him!if anelka is overrated, how ya even rate saha is beyond me.saha isnt proven at all,he's just goin thru a good patch...which sadly not even heskey can have...

Forlan or Solskjaer, it's gotta be Ole!

I think Diego Forlan is class. What he lacks in technique he makes up for in effort and desire.

Yeah he's okay but not many at the club can touch Ole's ability, he's got the best technique out of all the forwards, his touch and control are very good, he can create goals, he can head the ball and can score with either foot and when he gets a sniff of goal he's cool as fuck.

Personally I cant wait for him to come back, people who say we're missing Beckham dont realise we're only missing him cos the guy who kept him out of the team last season has been injured, he was playing with the injury at the start of the season so hopefully he'll be back to his best by Feb.
