Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Some people I know who support United have said that they are expecting a match that was exciting as United-Real a few years ago..... now that is the kind of match i would love to watch.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

united's biggest test think it will be 2-1 to the best team 2 morro (united fan --- but rate milan players as some of the finest football pedigree out there --- real hard 2 call)

... yes but don't forget you are a milan supporter and your team doesn't play matches like that. it will rather be a 0-0 mate ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

HAHA he looks cool, lets see if hes good!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Rooney against Milan could of done alot better. He always tries to dribble but usually fails.

AC Milan are one of the best teams in the world with bags of experience and skill
I remember one of the commentators saying that Maldini made his debut before Ronaldo or Rooney were even born. Thats experience for ya.

What we have to remember is that whenever Man Utd play, Sir Alex always has one eye on the future games. Which is why we might lose against certain teams. But today, Sir Alex is expected to go into this like its his last game cuz the CL is his highest priority.
Its the last leg of the tie and we know exactly what we gotta do so expect to us to be at our strongest.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

A 2-1 win for Utd would see them through. Although the scores would be level on aggregate, they would have 2 away goals to Milan's 1.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So basically, all we need is a win cuz a 1-0 would take it into extra time and penalties.
Its not as hard as it sounds. If we send out Rooney, Ronaldo and Giggs, I don't think Milan's defence is fast enough to handle us.
And hopefully, Howard will finally prove how great he REALLY is.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Got some news, the predicted lineup from the newspapers say that our strongest defensive line will play

Cafu-Stam-Nesta-Maldini.

lol dude you make it sound easy....

on one hand, until two weeks ago milan hadnt done too well on english shores and its similar to english sides playing milan at home so maybe we will be the ones to break the trend....

I don't know about you lot but I'm really confident. SIr ALex has always said that the CL is the most important thing to him and the squad that we're taking to the San Siro (Including Solskjaer :D ) I can't see anything going wrong.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think its all on Ronaldo, Giggs and Rooney creating some chances with pace, and Ruud taking those chances. We'll get a couple, like last game, not a lot, and if they're taken, we have a good shot.

That said, I have a bad feeling (esp. without Neville) that the back line isn't going to hold the whole match, and some luck is going to be needed on that side too, hopefully compensating for the lucky flubbed ball by Carroll.
Anyway, here's to another good match!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Like the post above me says it really is down to the creative players and hopefully van nistlerooy will be able to stick away any chances he gets. I think man u are still in with a good chance and hopefully they will get through to the next round.

Are you sure about Solskjaer.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

But its so hard to watch this finish, its the first stage of the knock out stage and Man Utd Or Ac Milan will be knocked out.

I've known him to travel with the squad before....

anyway here's 10 facts about Milan:

1. The Milan Cricket and Football Club was founded in a Tuscan wine shop in 1899 by a Londoner named Herbert Kilpin.

2. They chose red and black as their colours, which is why they are known as the 'rossonneri' and opted for a devil logo to strike fear into their opponents.

3. Milan have enjoyed huge financial backing throughout their history. In the early days they were bankrolled by tyre magnate Piero Pirelli - whose company logo now adorns the shirt of city rivals Internazionale. In recent years, the financial clout has been provided by Italian Prime Minister, media mogul and all-round corru... (Careful - UWS Legal Ed), Silvio Berlusconi.

4. Never ever call them 'AC Milan'. The team in red and black is known simply as 'Milan' (pronounced Mee-lan). A local bye-law in the northern Italian city prohibits the incorrect naming of the team and carries a punishment of death by Craig David.

5. Milan won their first European Cup in 1963, beating Benfica 3-1 in the final - and took United's European crown in 1969 when they beat Ajax 4-1.

6. Milan are traditionally the team of the city's working class and as a result their Ultras are more receptive to left wing politics, unlike their backward fascist rivals at Inter who still make monkey noises towards black players.

7. The Milan team of the late 1980s and early 1990s was perhaps the greatest club side the world has ever seen. Captained by the immaculate Franco Baresi and featuring the legendary Dutch triumvirate of Gullit, Rijkaard and Van Basten they won the European Cup in 1989 and 1990.

8. When Ruud Gullit played for the rossonneri it took a team of three men 6 hours a day to trim his substantial moustache.

9. Stop passing Milanese in the street and ask them 'caizo figa fai?'(pronounced 'cat-so fee-ga fy'), whilst gesticulating wildly. It is Milanese slang and is an informal way of greeting strangers. Compliment their girlfriends by addressing them as 'bella figa' at all times. It roughly translates as 'nice pussy'.

10. Milan featured in the first three Champions League finals and won their fifth European Cup in 1994 when they beat Barcelona 4-0. They have been losing finalists on three occasions.
