Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Don't want to sound pessimistic at the half, but against teams like Milan those 2 chances are the difference between winning and losing. Scholes should have scored, full stop. Fortune, little unlucky. Milan look vunerable to speed, I say switch Rooney back a bit, pull Fortune (even though he's playing really well) and bring on V. Nistlerooy. Fingers crossed some more, lets get at least 1!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Very tense game aint it? My heart is beating. Great game imo so far. QUality from both sides. That Seedorf freekick was really nice.

Too bad the field is slippery, u can tell by the defensive errors from both sides.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah, nicest thing is that they keep shaking and being really respectful of each other...don't get much of that in the EPL ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

All I have to say is that Tim Howard was given one mistake in the Champions League. How many will Carroll get?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

0-0 Would have been fair. Maybe even 1-1. But the game isn't fair, and once again United prove they can play with anyone in everyone position except 1. Frustrating, and well, guess we're playing for the FA Cup

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Really Man Utd are rich and cant buy a proper goal keeper, he shouldnt even be called a goal keeper.

Good game but bad Goal Keeping.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Also Rooney didnt play well.
He could of pass more.

Play Howard now he has 2!

He flopped with Mendes shot as well hes a joke of a keeper!

For me the worst player was Giggs, damm he is in a slow decline

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Giggs and Scholes played awful and should have been substituted well before Fortune and Ronaldo IMO. Fergies tatics pretty much sucked... I think I saw Ferdinand and Wes Brown playing on the wing towards the end.

Heinze did okay as always and Neville was pretty good too (subbed for Silvestre? Strange) and Caroll should have dealt with the shot a lot better but basically didn't have much to do all game maybe he was caught off-guard, though it seems to happen a lot with United keepers.

I thought it was a great game though and Milans tatics were great, my heart was racing through the game, it was pretty tense.

0-1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry but you lot are cursed with bad goalies in Europe. Now thats 2 in a row - Howard and Carrol.

Milan played very confidently, which imo is what United lacked. You lot had alot of pace, alot, and alot of technical skill. You had very dangerous attacks, but we managed to keep our cool and stay confident. Kaladze, Seedorf, Crespo, Pirlo and Gattuso were excellent all night. Gattuso was the king of midfield, so was Pirlo. Milan bossed the midfield, but you bossed the flanks. R

Ruud was imo disappointing, our defence has a very solid game and managed to stop him and rooney.

We used our strongest skill, ball posession, and managed to sneak in a goal. We hit the bar earlier, which would have been a stunning goal.

IMO it was a very tense game, some might say it was boring, but for me it was one of the best strategic games by MIlan.

Now you lot have to deal with playing in the San Siro, with an away goal for us. Tough task for you lot. Sheva seems to be certain of returnng.

Anyone notice how quick our defence was since Cafu was last-minute-called?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah I agree, where was Giggs? And Scholes' first touch was terrible all match, which is a big difference maker. Unfortunately there's not anyone else to come on for Scholes, but to take off Ronaldo and leave Giggs is truly baffling, especially given that Rooney has been playing on the left wing a bit. I actually thought Ruud looked pretty sharp, we literally gets a head on every ball played into the area, and had great control. That said, he doesn't look fit yet, I'd rest him til the next leg.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

United lost 2-1 to Chelsea at home in the carling up a couple weeks ago. Not as poor goalkeeping, but still... goal keepers are the problem. Buy casillas. give him whatever he wants.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think Liverpool will be the only English team left in after this round.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We controlled the midfield, which is what Milan is known for in Italy. It worked, with 2 playmakers. Gattuso bossed united's players around, and Pirlo was being the Maestro. Keane was very aggressive, i really admire his leadership on the pitch.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I actually think Chelsea have a good shot still, if they win 1-0 they'll go through, and they're very good at winning 1-0. Also, no way Bayern shuts out Arsenal. I think all the other teams have some hope, and I guess United do too, I mean, given a healtheir ruud for 90 mins, and more calm Rooney they can certainly score goals, but Milan are just so good at sucking the air out of the ball...should be interesting.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

ffs, what is a team to do. one of the most formidable attacking forces (shown by our counter attack leading to fortune's miss) and we still have to shake with fear everytime a good shooter from the opposing side takes a shot. why are we shaking in fear? for the love of god because we do not have a goal keeper who can take a shot in the gut for the team, instead he'd rather trap it between his chest and his arms. as if he hasnt learnt his lesson enough already.

honest to god, and what was fergie doing? has he lost the fucking plot, taking of ronaldo before fortune? i just dont understand.

it doesnt matter, the over-riding factor comes down to roy carroll, for fuck's sake he can just fuck off now.

i dont even care if the other 10 players didn't put in 100%, one player did infact cost us the game tonight, and perhaps a chance at a european dream come true

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Oh shut the fuck up with the doom and gloom you twats. We played some great football against one of the best teams in Europe tonight. Created the better chances and could've easily won it 2-1.
We'll have 'em in Italy.
"OH...AND WAS YORKE FOULED? ANDY COLE COULD FINISH IT!!! FULL SPEED AHEAD BARCELONAAAAA!!!!!"

Yep it was very frustrating seing Carroll spill that for Crespo to poke it in, looks like United have it all to do in the 2nd leg. That is a very, very tough task

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

People saying this was a shit match, but United have been the first team this year to scare me so much. I was screaming at every mistake we made in the first half.

Imo it was quality from both sides.

FFS, this is European football. Great players get marked out of the game, accept it, learn from it and move on. As it happens I thought Giggs and Scholes played relatively well tonight. Scholes kept the ball and calmed things down when Milan threatened while Giggs was always looking to get them with his pace on the break, as shown with that run he went on when he was looking for Rooney in the box.

Certainly wasnt boring. Was a good end to end match, which i didnt expect from an Italian team, it was like Premiership tempo.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Milan's passing was a joy, very slick and hardly squandered possession.

Roy Carroll can't catch a cold.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The match was pretty even, we could have got the luck but they got it. It was how i expected the game to be, we just need to hope we get the luck in the return leg and hope that our keeper doesn't get many opportunities to feck it up for us

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I thnk Milan are prepared for San Siro. They knew what happened last year for being comfortable with the first leg, and will do their best to avoid that. Good thing is that Sheva is most likely back...
