Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Are you sure that's right?
According to that we're playing a 2-6-2 formation!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

damm miller should have scored 1 on 1 with the keeper...

we're playing well, smith especially, playing in behind the striker, this kid loves scoring for us!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Crewe 0 Man United 3 so far, looks like game over for Crewe, just as they were finding their feet at 0-1 down, United hit them on the counter attack and Liam Miller stroked home the second. Shortly after, we got the 3rd through a Foster own-goal.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Half an hour left. Hopefully we can get a few more to up our confidence.

your forgetting the tackles arsenal made, your acting as if arsenal did not make any rash challenges, as they surely did, Cole KICKED Ronaldos feet out from under him, after ronaldo flew by him, no card was given, then Cole deliberatley fouled Ronaldo in the box, no card was given, should have been two cards and one ejection for cole..... as i said, the game went both ways, calls were made, not made, both ways, it all evevend out in the end, arsenal should only be pissed that henry was shit the whole game as he is against any worthwhile opponent..... Watch the game again if you want
I honestly do not remember a single bad challenge on Ronaldo by Cole, except the penalty which wasn't given. I do remember Ronaldo 'falling over' a few times...

His point on Rio was spot on, yeah you lot in ya armchairs have all these opinions but in the middle of it (and without some of your blatant bias) I reckon you'd make the same mistakes.
Of course, I'm not saying the referee was intentionally favourable to Man Utd, nothing like that, just that he got major decisions wrong and he's paid to get them right. I do remember Andy Gray also saying he thought both penalty decisions by the ref were correct at the time they happened, but hand on heart I thought he got them both wrong when they happened. There's no bias, the only reason I keep "waffling on" as you put it is because most of you lot refuse to admit you got any sort of rub of the green in that game, while I bet the same folk were absolutely shitting themselves when Ferdinand and Ljungberg clashed in the first half.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Its still not over is it for you cry babies...anyways for our cup victory last night,I heard Gerard Pique got a run out...What sort of a centre back is he? Cool, calm and composed or speed-based defender?...I hope our bitter archrivals Citeh could do us a favour and drown Arsene Whinger's crybabies once again.

What were the goals like?

nothing spectacular but good interms of teamwork.

The 1st was a nice pass from Saha who put Smith in for a cool finish, the 2nd was a great pass from Bellion to Miller (who was playing on the left??) put him clean thru and finished with his right, the 3rd came after some good work on the left, Miller put a good ball into Richardson who hit a low cross that was meant for Bellion but went in of a crewe defender.

We've got a pretty decent young reserve team, about 8 or 9 internationals among them.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I wonder when we're gonna see Miller play DMF. Fergie always plays him on the right for some reason, and now the left?

he's never a DMF mate, CMF (maybeOMF), he's a decent enough player, I can visibly notice the improvement in him over the past appearences, he's still abit lightweight but his passing and awareness is top notch.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well well, theres been a few things since post sunday that have convinced me even more that although we we we're no angels on the day that arsenal had no right to bitch like they have.

But today a mancunian journalist wrote a piece in our Evening News that confirms it even more, now this guy and Fergie DONT get on, infact I dont think he's allowed in OT, and he's chief sports writer lol. He's also an ex man city player and lifelong blue.

Paul Hince in the MEN

'How DARE Arsene Wenger claim Manchester United damaged the image of English football around the world with their performance at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Those remarks from the Arsenal manager go way, way beyond sour grapes. Apart from being factually incorrect, they are deeply insulting to Alex Ferguson, his players and the club they represent. And I can only hope the FA have noted Wenger's words and take the appropriate action.
Regular readers of these pages will be aware that my affiliations lie some distance away from that so-called Theatre of Dreams but my blood was boiling when I watched Wenger on television last night.
"Sunday's game was watched in 75 countries around the world and it was a bad, bad promotion for English football," said Wenger. "United did not play with the right spirit. I love my football but when it is played in the wrong spirit - as it was - I cannot agree with it."
Mr Wenger is French. He's only lived and worked in our little island for the past eight years so perhaps he's not conversant with the history of English football.
So I'm going to give him a history lesson on that subject right now. When you were growing up somewhere in France in the fifties, Mr Wenger, Manchester United, under the visionary leadership of Sir Matt Busby, were blazing a trail for other English football clubs to follow right across Europe.
United were the first English club with the guts to defy the FA by entering the competition now known as the Champions' League and they were the first English club to win it.
Their players are as familiar in Strasbourg as they are in Stretford. I doubt if there is a country on this planet where their name isn't instantly recognised.
United have done more down the years to promote the image of English football around the world than any ten other Premiership clubs put together.
And yet this is the very club that Wenger insists damaged the image of professional football with their display at Old Trafford last Sunday.
For once, words fail me.
I can only repeat my opening comment. How DARE he.
Far from being a "bad, bad promotion for English football" Sunday's match was a good, good promotion for English football. It was a wonderful match. An absolute corker of a game. And I'll guarantee it was enjoyed in Munich every bit as much as it was enjoyed in Manchester (at least in the red half).
Wenger didn't like the way United played. Too physical for his refined taste. Tough, Mr Wenger. If you didn't like it, you'd better lump it. Fergie's side WERE physical on Sunday. Since when has that contravened the laws.
Football is a man's game. It's a physical-contact game. If Wenger can't stomach a bit of rough and tumble he should quit his job and go and manage a ladies' bowls team.
It took me a long time to warm to Wenger after he arrived at Highbury. But any grudging respect I'd built up for him has evaporated completely after his petty and spiteful response to Sunday's defeat.
And that's what caused all this bile to erupt out of him, you know.
He's not a big enough man to accept with any grace his side's defeat at Old Trafford.
So he sours Manchester United's victory with insults and accusations.
There speaks a little, little man.'

Well Feckin Said!!!

I honestly didn't get a chance to see him play at Celtic, but since Miller was touted as "The new Roy Keane" I assumed he would be DMF or at least a commanding CMF.
What was his position at Celtic?
Thanks for the enlightenment. :)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He was most comfortable when he was on the treatment table I seem to remember.

When he did play, it was usually as a centre-midfielder who got forward.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Looks like we got Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in the next round of the Carling Cup.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

this is before or after we see them in the prem? the prem fixture takes place 7 days before christmas, at OT as well

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i was thinking if we played palace in the prem first, we'd get a chance to see what they're capable of, and hence either a weaker or stronger side against them in the cup

I think if he puts out a similar team to the one that beat crewe we should have a good chance of getting to the 1/4's.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Taking it a little too far, perhaps?
Taken from Skysports.com :

The agent of Ashley Cole, Jonathan Barnett, has confirmed he has sought legal advice over the prospect of suing Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Dutch hit-man was handed a three-game ban for the tackle that went unpunished in Sunday's game between the two sides at Old Trafford.

Van Nistelrooy's tackle was late and reckless but it was thought that The FA's intervention would put an end to the matter.

However, Barnett has now confirmed that legal advice has been sought but, that in all likelihood, no action would be taken.

''It's only because Ashley is the nicest guy in football, a real gentleman, that he probably wouldn't want to pursue anything through the courts,'' confirmed Barnett.

''But then again, I am his agent.

''We are looking at potential legal action, even criminal action for assault, but I cannot see Ashley wanting to go ahead.''

It IS going too far. Ruud didn't attempt to sue when he was jumped-on last year by the Arsenal players.

And if agents are going to sue for every bad challenge, then there are going to be A LOT of court cases.

that is fucking stupid, i cant beleive this

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The funny thing is that his lawyer is considering suing for assualt, when last season Ruud was actually assualted but didn't press charges. I guess some people have no shame :E

Lucky for us that Ashley Cole is "the nicest guy in football", eh?

Ruud assaulted? Lauren gave him a little push. Quite different from putting your studs in somebody's knee intentionally. Only an idiot would argue otherwise.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

lol could these goons be bigger shithouses, pressing charges for a tackle FFS!! Even thinking about pressing charges is ridiculous!
