Manchester United Thread

If no one gets injured I doubt anyone would ever make this a subject. Only because it affects their beloved club that they call it useless. These players belong to a country and when they're called up to represent they should be there. Tight football schedules don't allow much room.

Have said it before...Lukaku is the best young striker in England. We should be desperately looking to replace one Everton striker with another. Would offer us everything up front.

The list of players at his age with 50 goals is incredible, and he deserves to be on it.

Can't argue with that Beach.
The strange thing is that he is absolutely rubbish with our national team. More and more people want Batschuayi to start.

Lukaku is sometimes so clumsy and can have an horrible first touch.

But those stats are impressive.

Maybe its the system that differs, or they just don't care enough about playing for the national team...but I'm seeing more and more really great players at club play mediocre for their national teams...

Listening to the 'Beyond the Pitch' podcast, and they're saying Bale is increasingly trying to get out of Madrid, and United are going to do all they can to sign him. If we could somehow offload Rooney to free up wages, and replace him with Bale...

Lots of ifs, but you give Memphis another year in the prem, put Bale on the other side and Martial through the middle...oof. That's the kind of front 3 a LVG side needs to succeed - they could do it all themselves, with the midfield focused on control.

Bale isn't leaving Madrid beach, he's not quite the future and present that they expected (Ronaldo's heir) but he's definitely part of what there building.

Its Ronaldo whose getting shifted this summer. Bale along with probably Aguero and Hazard is what might be the new frontline next year.

Watching the (frustrating) PSV match and I just can't tell what needs to happen for LVG to switch things up a bit, in terms of 'philosphy', not personnel.

There's an amazing video of all of Ruud Van Nistlerooy's goals doing the rounds because of the Vardy record, and I may have wasted 30 mins and watched them all. I'd say almost 75% came in transition of some form or another.

LVG has eliminated transition from United's attack. The only time you'll see it (and Leicester will score at least 2 this way) is when United lose the ball and the other team counter. Players like RVN would look just as poor as Rooney in LVGs philosphy. And Ruud is literally my favourite player of all time.

Outside of Messi, Ronaldo, peak Torres and Suarez, no forwards can create out of literally nothing, against entire, packed defenses. I've no idea why LVG doesn't realise this. Scoring goals and creating chances comes out of unpredictability and energy - two traits LVG seems determined to coach out of United.

We're 2nd in the league because the league is terrible. He has a worse qualifying campaign in the CL than Moyes did. The football is dire.

I'm ready. Bring on whoever is next. God I wish Klopp was still available.

Unless we fall out the top 4 LVG is here to see out his deal, Pep looks set to renew his Bayern deal so I'll sit patiently for now.

I don't see why Pepe would go to Manchester City if he coaches Bayern...

For the challenge?

What is the challenge in coaching Manchester City? You can buy any player in the world. I don't see the challenge there.

And for the record, i have nothing whatsoever against City, at times they are playing breath taking football (at times), i simply don't want teams to dominate leagues for years. City has everything to do that, fortunately they are underachieving massively just like every other sugar daddy club.

Clubs like Chelsea, PSG, City should win or be runners-up in both league and CL every single year. Fortunately for football they don't.

Sadly we have come to a point that the CL can only be won by PSG, Bayern, Real Madrid or Barcelona and perhaps City.

All the other clubs don't stand a chance.

To illustrate how far things have come is the fact that Juventus reaching last CL's final was a major upset...Juve are one of the biggest clubs in the world, yet they are underdogs in the CL.

Sorry to hijack the United thread for this post.

City can buy any player in the world but so could Barça and so can Bayern. Money has never been an issue for the teams Guardiola has coached at the top level.

That is the reason why i would want to see him at a lesser club, where he has to build.

I'm aware that coaching thse mega clubs wiith players with big ego's isn't easy, but i would like to see coaches like Cruijff, Pep and Mourinho work at clubs like Crystal Palace, Montpellier or Palermo.

Interesting match today for LVG. Basically, if you take are of Mahrez and give Leicester the ball, they're nearly as threatening. But if you commit forward and lose it - Vardy will punish you.

So I expect LVG to set us up as per every single match, controlling the ball with 70% possession. And for Leicester to score 2 on the break and beat us 2-1.

I want to like Vardy for his streak but I just can't get last season's match out of my mind. Showed wonderful strength in fouling Rafael, gets away with it, and less than 5 seconds later dives to win a penalty. Of course Clattenberg was loving the adoration of the King Power faithful, but man. What a 10 seconds. Awesome to be able to show such inconsistent refereeing in the space of just an animated GIF!

Also, Jamie Vardy and Ruud van Nistlerooy. I mean. Come on now.

Embarrassing how that team has cost 400m. They're like that annoying childhood friend who asks for a game of footy only to stay on his goalline hogging the ball

I agree. So depressing watching united now. I used to think the result was the most important factor, not anymore tho.
Sport is first and foremost about entertainment and if its not entertaining any longer then i dont see the point

That's the opinion I've been feeling all season, as per the negative posts on LVG. I just don't understand what he thinks he's doing. Not only is the football terrible to watch but nothing in the history of the prem suggests that he'll achieve his goals without, erm, goals. Other than maybe one Chelsea season, the team that wins the premier league tends to score a lot of goals - always either 1st or 2nd in the goals scored column. The premier league hasn't been a league won by dire, controlling, negative football for over 20 years.

So what is he doing?

Only good news is that this squad is quite good, and when we get a new manager (please please please be this season) I think we can start playing excellent football with the players we already have.

------Bastian--Herrera

That'd be your best team imo

No disagreement from me, depending on if Memphis can sort himself out. I still have faith that he has the talent to succeed, but his confidence has definitely taken a beating.

The injuries to Shaw and Valencia (both potentially out til next season :() have also hurt us more than people realise. It means we have no full backs that can offer anything in attack, except when we put Young there, who isn't great at defending. Darmian is kind of looking out of his depth already, unfortunately, which is a surprise. Valencia had been starting over him, so essentially we've lost 2 of our starting 11 for the year.

Forget about style , a win or draw is welcomed ( I'll take an og win w/ no shots at gol) can you imagine Liv, Spu, Ars & Mut in Europa that gives MCity just 75pts to win the league Imo. Chelsea are fit but broken at the same time. I saw Fabregas highlights ( vs Spus) and meh something is definitely wrong w/ him . I think the transfer market will be tricky too . I only want a DM for Arsenal! Mutd needs Martial on the wing n Depay upfront. I think a fullback will solve the Mutd problem- Stone will be perfect, a Mou target and he plays across the back perfectly.
