Manchester United Thread

Lvg will say after the game that the players didnt do this didnt do that yet he can't get off his backside and tell them during the game.

Moscow was a tough place to go, we didn't lose, we created the chances to score in the 2nd half unfortunetly fell to the wrong people.

hope to see a refreshed Mata and Memphis return on Sunday.

It's not the result that is odd - Fergie always drew away CL matches - it's the performance. Soooo sloooooowwww and just horrible to watch.

I always knew that I had it good as a United fan due to the trophies, but never appreciated the football until now. Even in the Giggs/O'Shea central midfield years, we'd still be fun to watch. We're absolutely dire now. I literally have to do something else at the same time - last night I just worked.

LVG is not the right manager for United.
Liverpool beat many clubs in the race for Klopp.
Try Guardiola next season...not convinced that he will end up at Manchester City.

I think Giggs will be the next gaffer, you know it makes sense.

I really really hope he ends up being coach at a smaller club first. Now that LVG is molding us into a possession team, we may as well make a imho logical transition to a coach like Guardia, who does the same...albeit with a bit more pace.

I guess some years ago Barcelona fans wanted a big coach too instead of the unproven Pep.
Why could Giggs not become the next Pep?

from a personal point of view Gerd its a massive risk for a legend like Giggs, you always talk about never going back as a player and that really isn't too different as a manager, fans would get on his back if he didn't deliver.

would be awful to watch us have to sack him and be booted out like a Moyes.

Please not Pep :(

Hate all you want about what I'm going to say, but I was never a fan of his football at Barcelona.

I don't know who the answer is tbh. I just look at our front 4 (potentially) being Martial, Memphis, Mata and Rooney - there HAS to be a coach that can get those 4 hitting more than 3 or 4 shots per 90 minutes. It's pathetic.

I don't have the stats, but I would wager we've had about 10 halves already this season without a single shot on target. It's incredible. It's like we've forgotten why people watch football.

You're a Debbie downer! If any other team , you'll be like its only a matter of time for this to click. Look at the only truth in futból ' table' . Anyways we are close to the 10th match!

It's post SAF Syndrome, unfortunately a lot of us who have grown up with him as manager will never be satisfied with whoever is in charge, he was like a cheat code.

now fans require patience and having to back a manager without the guarantees of success and it's all new to us.

If there was one teamthat deserved to win, it was United...
That Lingard attempt deserved a goal.

Good match by Rojo, completely neutralized Kevin....

IMO Pellegrini made a tactical error by playing Touré as AMF and not Kevin De Bruyne. Touré is more dangerous if he comes from further back.

I prefer Navas to Sterling.

Don't think you had even an attempt in the first half today

Think you bored us into attacking 1st half and then we bored you into attacking in the 2nd

Yup, a draw is probably fair in the end. We had the best chances when we did actually determine you need to score to win a footie game but unfortunately we missed a bit of luck..particularly on that Lingard attempt. Don't get LvG's whining about the missed penalty call on Herrera...had we shown a bit more urgency in the final third in the first half we wouldn't have needed one anyway.

Seems like both coaches set up to nullify each other's greatest threats and succeeded. *yawn*

I think its more 'political' then that.

I'd be surprised if he's still starting for us next season, Wayne holds a lot of cards for LvG to simply just 'drop him'

Rooney in stats: (F365) Since March 2015, there are 28 players with more goals than him. 58 have created more chances than he has.

And yet he is the highest paid, starting CF at the 'biggest' club.

Something is not right with that. And all of LVG's reputation screams that he should be plying his trade in Portland this year. And yet...starts in the League Cup.

What is going on?

LVG immedaitely got the support of Rooney as an influential player in the dressing room (against for example RVP, who seems to be known as not being a team player at all and i means this off the field).

LVG wanted a coup against RVP (out) and he got the support of Rooney.

LVG owes Rooney one.

I don't know if this is true, but i'm not inventing it. I've read in Dutch press and parts of it in the book about the post Ferguson period by a Guardian journalist (not the best book).

In short: Younggun is right, it's political...

On top of that: some players are important for a squad without playing or without playing well.

An example. Jean-François Gillet is the third GK of our national team. By the time of the 2014 WC, he was suspended for max fixing when he played for Bari (later it transpired that he was most certainly innocent). The Belgian coach and FA did everything they could to allow him to accompany the team as a staff member (FIFA refused) because he is very influential in the squad....

Maybe Rooney is imortant off the field and LVG doesn't want him out of the team because he is scared that he will loose his good influence?

Football is about more than just 11 first team players...

Maybe this all bullshit, in which case: sorry.

Look how well Barca are w/o Messsi  sometimes the absence can be a blessing. Rooney is like that dirt particle in a cup of water. If, you must drink it ,be careful.

I think he's just not suited to this slow style of play where first touch is more important than risk taking and having players run off of him to give him space.

It'd be better for him if we did a 4-4-2 with Martial playing off of him to run at defenders and give him that space. But knowing LvG, it will never happen

It shouldn't happen!

LvG is moving us into the modern game with style of play and tactics, he might not be the one to get us the finished product but people will be lauding LvG for laying the foundations here in 3-4 years time.
