Manchester United Thread

I think the biggest problem is MUFC are not sitting in 2nd w/ 2pts from 1st . If this was Arsenal, MCFC or Chels who won the CL being 6th in the league as were Liverpool when they won. Everything would be fantastic :BEBO: for everyone. MUFC pressure stems from being MUFC they`re the biggest successful club in the country and one of the most glamorous in the world. When MUFC spends Billions its normal for me you sort of expected. IF, the Emirates adds 20k seats I expect OT to add 25k more. If, I expect MUFC to win. How much more do their fans expected, it's just adding more seats. It doesnt have to be comfy or more stylish seats just more of it.

SAF was winning loads I wasn`t impress by their footy . I was impress how they know regardless what the minutes shows they knew by the 90th minute they would get the win. How, many times I get excited to see MUFC losing during a match and my mouth dripping saliva like Komodo Dragon , only to throw a mild tantrum when they edge the win. At one point I try to turn my frustration and try to find joy in their mental strength...I couldn`t it was like Frodo in arm length to getting the ring. I knew that to find joy in MUFC being so successful was inevitable , Eve had no choice but to take the fruit from the tree. See the good n evil is among us whether we want to believe it or not. So, MUFC has no choice but to win! VanGaal is not the man to lead ,but he`s there to start. Today, I don`t lip my chops when MUFC are not winning .I`ve learn to be cautious and realise that MUFC success is good for the league. I couldn`t imagine Cali w/o Hollywood or Disney World in Orlando-_-incomprehensible.

Interesting read lami.
Now i remember that.
Afterwards Van Gaal had a very big conflict with Johan Cruijff and lost spectacularly. Cruijff and Van Gaal are arch enemies.

Dutch football is all about similar rivalries like those one...

If you know of any other stories please let me know. I'm becoming more interested in the behind the scenes.

Excellent coach. Poor manager. Young (and Fellaini) helped rescue him last season and yet his confidence must be rock bottom after his manager's recent comments.

I quite like his honesty but there are limits when talking about your own players in public.

well, I have only Pep Confidential, digital format. I haven't read yet.
and for the other books, I couldn't find any.

Imagine choosing Tony V at RB instead of Rafael. My heart aches.

Probably my favourite player of that generation, so sad. Never understood why Moyes didn't use him like Fergie, but LVG doesn't work with Brazilians so that was never going to happen.

I really liked Rafael. I thought he needed time to become an excellent rb. I really wish him the best wherever he goes as long as he's a starter. Hope he's not used to warm the bench and waste development and experience time.

Riveting stuff again.

Interesting that only LVG gets criticism though - Pochettino had Spurs basically play keep ball for 30 minutes between the defense and keeper. Hate all this Barca-wannabe-possession-for-possession-sake football.

It reduces the game down to two elements:
1 Which defender/GK will make a bad pass and create an opportunity (Eriksen's should have been goal, the goal)
2 Set pieces and hoofing at the end

Really hope some team comes along and wins it all playing actual fun football, so teams can emulate that :(

I understand you. That's why I miss 2008-10. Right now, everyone plays to win matches, not to entertain.

in our case we just don't have the attacking players.

good to get the win and start things of positively, were probably 4 player's short of being a team capable of winning the league and Champions League. (GK, CB and ST and L/RW)

I don't think we're short in the GK department, though. Also upfront I'm content. Just one more CB and a winger (maybe) and I'm happy.

Surely you can't be content with just Rooney upfront. Delay should be playing in Young's position. I just feel his raw pace and acceleration is wasted through the middle where more guile and flair is required.

Well winning the triple w/o a proper ST sort of does the emulating most would hope for.At least that`s VanGaal logic :P

Rooney as the main striker, and we do have Chicha on the bench from what I noticed, and I'd like us to use our reserve strikers too. I know you all want ready-made top notch strikers, but I'm more than content with Rooney and the rest as subs.

Put Memphis out wide, Mata in the central role and a fecking solid CB. Blind is a no go.

David de Gea is treating Manchester United disgustingly.
United should let him rot.

It's really irritating to the fans of any club when these so called 'professionals' act anything but.

I'm aware how much he is worth but wouldn't it be great to see a club as big as United set an example and refuse to sell AND refuse to play him.

I don't like this let him rot mentality tbh. They're humans after all, not slaves. If they want to leave then so be it. Can't do much when the biggest club in the world and his city come calling. Let's set our price and sell.

Refusing to work for an employer is a sackable offense with most employers.

He's not actually going to rot, it's just a terminology to emphasize a point.
He if he wants to go, hand a transfer request in and be clear about it.

Modern day footballers piss me off.

Of course it pisses us off, but think about it from their perspective, he doesn't want to miss out on both and end up looking like an idiot. It's like a poker game for them I guess.

And to think, we fans would play for free.

These guys get paid so much and still want more.

What exactly would he miss out on?

Play for one of the greatest clubs in world football for 1 more season and he can have his move. Just like Ronaldo did for you guys.

David is alienating himself from his team mates, manager and you fans.

Play your contract out or sacrifice your pay.
No class in footballers.

The only entity to be pissed at here is Madrid. If Madrid offered a decent price than David could happily move back to his love and home city.

Instead they're trying to use the player to force a move. And I say f*ck them. We bought De Gea 3 years ago for 20m. Since then he's become one of the top 3 keepers in the world. And all signs point towards Madrid offering LESS than 20m GBP.

This is Real Madrid. Buy players in that price range every year who spend 2 years on the bench then eventually get to go somewhere else to try and kick start their career.

United are happy to let Dave go, Dave wants to go, Madrid wants him, but Madrid won't pay anything less than an insulting fee. So f*ck em. Richest club in the world, can't pony up 10m for their 'golden returning son'. He can sit on the bench thinking about how much Madrid wanted him for a year. United have the contract, Madrid and Dave are the ones trying to break it, therefore they need to sort something out.

Unrelated, but another great show of why the media is lovely. BeIN Sports spend about 10 minutes on how the new United signings can't kick a ball through a hole at a sponsor event, showing all looking pretty embarassed. And musing on how crap they are.

How's that? Well tehy just edited out all the times the players did kick it through:

Classy.

Not impressive going forwards - but a lot of that was down to Rooney and Memphis who were both awful.

Then again, we're really solid. I'm not convinced Villa had a decent chance all match, other than when they could have had a penalty. Between the back 4 and the 2 in front of them, we were basically shut everything down.

But, need some speed on the counter if that's how we're going to play. Pedro?
