Manchester United Thread

You know here in Belgium there are plenty of negative feelings towards Januzaj.
It is a publicsecret that something happened in the Belgian camp at the WC and most so called (i stress so called) well informed sources claim it has something to do with Januzaj.

There were rumours that he took a starting eleven place for granted and that he was very lazy at training sessions.

It's all just rumours, but i know somebody from the staff around the red devils and he confirms that something happened and that it is related to Januzaj. The guy is terrified to tell more, because since a couple of weeks plenty of people surrounding the national team are sacked (there was a scandal that the Belgian FA forgot the annulate the hotel for the WAG's, they had foreseen accomodation for the WAG's but Wilmots forbid WAG's to come to Brazil and somebody forgot to annulate the hotel, it all costed 300.000 euro...this started it all but it is clear weird things are happening).

This seems of course off-topic, but did any of you heard negative vibes around Januzaj at United...it's weird because before the WC we only heard extremely positive things about him: massive talent, excellent mentality, very positive influence from his family...

Haven't been impressed with Adnan since he came back tbh. Don't think he's properly match fit which is somewhat understandable, but will be up to Van Gaal to sort him out.

He's been given the 11 jersey as a clear statement of intent from management, but still needs to prove he's up to it.

Very early days of course, and given how utterly useless our midfield has been in our first few matches, it's hard to judge any attacking players fairly.

 We'll see about that.

Ronnie clearly holds us in high esteem (the feelings mutual) and seems to always comment on club matters like most club legends. in terms of him returning? I dunno, I think he realizes its financially possible at this point and the wages were handing out too, + returning like a prodigal son must be enticing too.

overall though I don't think it will happen, Real would never sell and by the time they would we'd probably have no interest, he might return like Henry did to Arsenal but Real won't sell at any point whilst he's still amongst the worlds best.

speaking of world's best :...

He's going to be incredible if we give him the platform, potential Ballon D'or Shortlist.

Also Rojo has his permit, good to go against QPR. :))

Similar to that chart showing both RVP and Rooney outproduced Falcao significantly in terms of goals created (assists + goals).

But, having watched him a few times, his quality is undeniable. Will be interesting.

Personally always would have kept Welbeck and spent the money elsewhere, but Danny seemed determined to leave, so what can you do.

1 assist in over 2 years is a crazy stat for a striker.

Negredo outscored him from open play at Atletico in 12/13. You should have given us all da moneys!

Still, more than a goal from open play every 2 games is nowt to be sniffed at, esp. given that RVP, to me, looks almost done. He'll also have Rooney, Mata and Di Maria threading balls into him.

TBH, I'm just trying to find reasons not to be bothered about you thievesing the preciousssss

the only reason I can understand to doubt falcao might be due to the acl tear he had recently and not anything else. if he's not heavily effected by that injury which I don't think so (cuz of his playing style), he should be a big hit in prem, too. he's such a passionate footballer.

assist is just another misleading stat for me. I mean, how can we give the whole emphasis on just the last pass ignoring the whole build-up process? I've seen many goals where the assist was the least important of the passes in the build-up. also, I'm not sure if you ever watched falcao but he's always heavily involved in the build-up rather than just sitting in the box. he doesn't do a lot of dribbles but he's a complete striker.

United's 25-man Premier League squad has 12 home-grown players included which is more than any other club in the league.

So we have that going for us, despite 'selling out' and abandoning youth.

City have registered 59 youth players.....

Do you have a link to the list?

I'm curious how many "homegrown" players are in the 1st teams or regulary play. Liverpool have about 6 or so (Johnson, Gerrard, Lallana, Henderson, Sterling, Sturridge) with another 3 on the bench, (Flannagan, Lambert, Allen?)

Found the list for Liverpool;
http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/clubs/profile.squads.html/liverpool

So 9 HG who are all in the 1st team or on the bench and then we also have Sterling as an U21 who will also be homegrown.

Utd's list;
http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/clubs/profile.squads.html/man-utd

Quite similar to Liverpool really. A couple more but those won't be in the team as much for the forseabele future. And with Shaw, Januzaj and Blackett as U21's.

Man City's (a squad with a view to the future....)

So 3 you would see in the 1st team or on the bench...

Yep, that's the sauce. Chelsea's is the best: http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/clubs/profile.squads.html/chelsea

Only 3 HG products - Cahill, Fabregas and Terry. That's some dedication to youth development right there!

I'd imagine Burnley is pretty much entirely HG

Yep, it is indeed. I got that tweet from Opta too, not sure what they're referring to. United have more than all the other 'big' teams (Spuds,LFC,AFC,Chelsea,City) but Burnley definitely take the cake.

United have produced more players in the division than anyone else, and have put out 3,702 (I believe) match day squads in a row with a youth product in it. Think about that number, it's mental. It's like 70 years.

So fingers crossed Wilson makes it, because I'm not convinced Evans is going to stay in the team if he continues as he is!

Arsenal`s core is HG and w/ Welbkz its our spine! I don`t credit Welbkz to Arsenal though....he was dumped through the back door. I hope we can polish him and become something he wasnt at Mutd.

Arsenal has (3) U21 players that will get lots of games this season . AlexOx -Chambers -Hector Bellerin *faster then Theo! atm

Wow, here's a lesson in UK media:
BwzMD_cIMAENoV2.jpg

That'd be the Phil Jones that has been man of the match in 2 of our 3 premier league matches?

I mean, how do these people even have jobs? Can we please just stop wasting oxygen and euthenise them all?

We also apparently had been tracking Falcao for months, not a peep from journalists. closest they got was constant links to Cavani.

We'll be laughing at your quote in May however that doesn't change fact Welbeck will do really well at Arsenal IMO

Hope he does so anyway!

Imagine Welbz keeping Giroud on the bench... Rumours are 10% chance Wenger didn't want a striker much less Welbz. Ivan pursue it anyways like Arshavin.

pretty much anybody would be a laughing stock if we do that for everybody here. but then again, nobody would be arsed with looking for the posts. :)

so here's mine: if falcao doesn't have problems with his knee, he'll be the top scorer. :OH:

I think it is really important that Di Maria and Falcao get used accordingly and for them to not look out of place. I think Di Maria will be fine but maybe to slowly filter Falcao into it. I have only seen bits of Rojo. Blind has always played LWB when I have seen him, with rumours of him playing in CM.

I'd love to see the attacking wing play return...
