Manchester United Thread

Just read that Tom Cleverley is pleased to escape the "negativity" he experienced from United fans and that some comments "hurt" him. I don't know what is going on with twitter and stuff but it made me feel sad for the lad and the state of general support (like making fun of Fellaini eg.) if something happens. Tom spends the last 14 years at United and even he was not playing at best, he deserved more than that in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more.
When a star playes leaves a club, he is often seen as a traitor by the fans, wheras the same fans (or better, some fans) are the first to axe players they are disappointed with.

I hope Cleverley plays two fantastic matches against his old club (i would say the same if that old club was Spurs by the way).

It's too easy to forget that these 'elite athletes' are really just kids - generally uneducated ones at that.

TCLVEZ23 definitely made some poor decisions in terms of his public image, and overegged it a bit given what he achieved early in his career, but that doesn't justify the hate that the internet generation give him.

In his particular case, I'm just disappointed more than anything else. I watched him firstly at Watford (he actually wasn't great for our youth team tbh), then at Wigan and then for his first few starts with us on pre-season etc. He looked excellent, exactly the kind of tidy, pass and move type player he were lacking. But that was 3 years ago. And yes, Kevin Davies did his brave, studs up ruin a player on the half way line to show how big his balls are challenge, and yes, he got some mean comments on Twitter. But if you watch Tom from 2 years ago and Tom this summer - his bravery left him. He doesn't pass forwards any more. He doesn't take a touch and glide by a challenge.

He stripped out all the things that made him a potentially class player, and went for all the safe things that make him just another player.

Hopefully he has a great career at Villa where the pressure is off him - will be a bit like Ben Foster. But he'll always be a disappointment for me. Had the talent and the opportunity to be genuinely excellent at his sport, but not the mentality.

Oh, and part time footballer Phil Jones is taking another month off.

Most fragile frigging 22 year old in world football. If he can't sort his body out, I'm not sure he can have a career as a top level CB. That's one of those positions where a bit of consistency and reliability trump talent for me.

Maybe its just me, but does anyone else find the addboards in chinese, malaysian or whatever language annoying? Just seen it at old trafford and saw it at anfield the other day.

In better news, Rafael has lasted a whole 23min. so far.

Glad I added Di Maria to my FT for this week! Hattrick please.

Di Maria looks incredibly amazing again today (Perez really looks like a proper idiot already) but what to me is the most impressive performance thus far imho is Blind. His presence in mid field and ...gasp..willingness to push the ball are something we haven't really seen in a while.
I'm a massive RvP fan but his body language atm is really annoying me..when celebrating goals it's as if he s sulking and thinking .."why not me?"

RvP finally showing a bit now ..looking better playing off the side.btw RvP,Rooney and Falcao all on the field together..doesn't get much more fantasy team than that when assembling a strike force lol.

Was only QPR as most will say but that was so satisfying seeing us play at such a tempo. Sterner tests ahead tho but for once in a long time I'm very optimistic

We played 4-4-2 diamond and we looked really good to be honest, Blind for me was immense, also Di Maria and Herrera. For once we can say we have a class midfield! :CONFUSE:

Rooney again looked out of place in that team and yet he has a goal and an assist to his name, sums up his last few years perfectly lol.

Sorry, I meant 4-3-1-2 (4-4-2 diamond).
Good news for United then that Van Gaal abandoned one of the worst formations in football that is 5-3-2. Those players in a 4-3-1-2 are frightening.

I don't think he's abandoned it just yet, we'll see what we line up like against Leicester.

The battle upfront is so intriguing, Rooney and Falcao should probably start next week IMO, RVP off the bench.

Will be nice to see Blind and Hererra build up a partnership together and i wouldnt mind Carrick possibly taking up a centre back position.

He was asked about the 5-3-2 and he said he doesn't currently have the defenders for it as both Smalling (not match fit yet) and Jones are out.

So in the last week that boy Ronaldo has made a few headlines in regards to a possible return.

Seems the papers and 'insiders' believe theirs something to it. Guillem Balagué seems convinced (who announced both Di Maria and Falcao first) that he will eventually return.

Gary had his say too

All a bit insane really, but considering Woody at the minute I don't doubt he'll try.

Most effective player I've ever seen. Even at 30 with a few injuries I'd have him back in a heart beat. Think he'll finish his career as a striker.

Which means, oh look, we have Falcao, you have Ronaldo. Swapsies.

I think it was time for Ronaldo to be on the headlines on some sort of level. I bet by the end of the season they`ll(RM) will be gelling and all is well.

I don't know about that, I don't think he probably has any issues with any of the players, its more likely hes getting tired of the 'circus' antics of the president.

Real Madrid could have signed no one (as well as selling no one) and they'd be in a far better position than they are in right now, the NEED to constantly create headlines and seek attention has been a detriment.
