Ashley Young, who the club would listen to serious offers for, earns £115,000 a-week, which equates to an £11.9m salary over the final two years of his deal.

How on earth can such a fraud of a "footballer" earn that? Almost £12m, just on wages, for two seasons of mistimed runs and over hit passes. It's an extrodinary way to make money.

Like I said.. Young is that over paid colleague at work who keeps doing just enough to earn the good graces of the boss. (but not in anyone else s mind) You know... That person that makes you feel the world isn't fair. Then again.. Its not anyway so there s that. Boy that's depressing. Time to pick up some craft beer after work.

Keep Young, sell Kagawa. Sob.

I'm optimistic we'll see the back of Hernandez too. Both he and Kagawa will go on to be hits somewhere else, but their time here has sadly come to an end. Love both of them, especially Chicharito, but at some point you have to hold up your hands and just admit it didn't work.

On a side note, TClev23 is going to end up working for Roy Keane. That's going to go well. Again, wish him the best - solid youth product but really an attacking midfielder, not a central one. Could do well with Villa.

Zaha back at Palace too. Last step will potentially be Fellaini, but I think with his injury we're stuck. Still have some hope he could become a useful player for us if we ignore his price.

Can't believe we've gone another window without fully addressing the central midfield problem, but presumably there just isn't a 'right target' right now. Better than wasting money I guess.

Its surprising how many of the top clubs are, or had, difficulties finding the right player.

Liverpool have taken a gamble on Mario, Arsenal look like they will try Sanchez up top, Chelsea looked solid but if Costa is out for 6 weeks they will have the same issues as last season, Utd have pissed about with CM....again, Spurs are hoping Ade will be bothered to play for more than 6 games this season and that last season signings will start to take shape.

Its really only City that are covered in every position.

I can have some sympathy with our midfield woes.

Fabregas chose London, Strootman is out injured with a major injury so you can't really do anything till January, Vidal was probably the one but hasn't proven his fitness and could very well be a Hargreaves.

People bring up other options but I would say those three are more what were looking for.

De Jong/Blind for a cheap fee I'd take right now.

Won't be surprised if were back in for either Strootman/Vidal in January.

Totally agree. Big q's around both of the players in Italy, and with the fees being discussed we don't want a Hargreaves.

Can't understand why we wouldn't be in for De Jong as a stop gap. I watch a fair amount of the ressies and no one from there is ready for that role. Even Perreira who is the right age is a bit flaky. Maybe better than Fletcher/Cleverley, but that's hardly a glowing endorsement.

I don't really like Blind tbh. Doesn't seem a United level player. He's alright, sure, but not an answer really.

Vidal isn't a Hargreaves. He just isn't leaving.

And Blind is absolutely not a United quality player, at least not the quality United want to be again.

Several reports incl Dutch press saying deal for Blind is locked in. I also wasn't overly impressed by him but he played a solid WC and looks to be a leader. Let's hope he won't shame his father's legacy like a Jordi Cruijf :JAY:

blind adds huge versatility to the team but I always expected united to get vlaar this summer. all of their centre backs are average, slightly above average at best(evans).

di maria looks to be playing as cm at burnley

So far Di Maria totally looks worth the money.he always makes himself available and chases after every ball. Nice to see some intensity from a United player again. Too bad Mata is having a stinker today.

Top heavy team with very little quality behind it. However looking at our options in our squad (if they are all ever fit!) Herrera and or Carrick to come into midfield in that Fletcher role would take the side up a level or two, Rafael, Rojo and Smalling would massively help in our transition from defence to attack too.

Blind can fill in a number of roles too and would have started today, slowly coming together IMO even if its not clear to see right now.

Utd are lucky Burnley have such cloggers up front. The amount of times they've had 3 or 4 running at the Utd defense is ridiculous.

And Valencia has decided he needs a new trademark move. Gone is the kick ahead and try to beat the defender to it. Now he just hits a low shot into the area and hopes it works.

Valencia can't cross a ball to save his life.

Well we didn't concede. Once again painful to watch. Absolutely god awful in link up play and passing, but most of it comes down to a lack of intensity once more. Time for LVG to bring out his own hair dryer.
With Blind and Rojo, as well as Herrera coming (back) in we have to go return to 4 in the back.the likes of Evans can't candle the pressure.

Davie Moyes must be pishing himself laughing, sorry VG hasn't got a clue, centre of midfield and defence are as bad as I can ever remember for Man U.

No pace in our game whether in passing or running. Only van persie was looking to make runs and ask questions of the defenders.

When your players are fit you will go on a huge run of unbeaten games I am sure of it. it was always going to take a bit of time.

Burnley were actually good at Turf Moor last time they were in the league. I believe it's the smallest pitch in the division, and the surface was terrible. Our players were falling everywhere. (even Ashley Young, zing!)

Not great performance, but could have been worse. Should have had an 88th minute penalty (absolute stonewaller imo, but we didn't get them last season so I've stopped expecting them) and everyone would have said how important a hard fought 1-0 was to our season. That's kind of the way things are going right now.

We'll look very, very different when we can play a real midfield and defense. Some good signs from Di Maria too, obviously a class player.
