Manchester United Thread

Moyes' subs made sense yesterday but they were made far too late.

Utd fans are slagging off Cleverley but you needed his energy yesterday against Liverpool's 3. Look at Allen, he's nothing special but did a good job in the context of the team.

Fellaini and Carrick was a suicidal choice. Keeping it as that for so long was Moyes' biggest failure yesterday

i disagree..he is very special.

That was a worse performance than the 6-1 reverse against City, very lucky not to concede more.

Moyes did nothing to address the issues with playing against a midfield diamond. It was embarassingly obvious that he was completely out of his depth.

A successful manager makes a team play better than the sum of its parts, like Rodgers has done at Liverpool. The wrong manager is detrimental to the overall team, like Moyes has been in taking a side that was Champions to well outside of the Champions League places.

I'm also getting quite sick of the sight of Rooney and his inconsistent displays on the pitch.

Very well put, great post.

I also think Rooney should be dropped for Kagawa for now. But that would take balls, which Moyes apparently doesn't possess.

RVP should be dropped before Rooney. Van Persie has been shameful through this slump. He doesn't run, he doesn't close down defenders and he's missing all the shots he does take. Any other player gets dropped in that kind of form.

I'd still love to see us stick Rooney back up top and go 433, with both Mata and Kagawa on the pitch at the same time.

If Moyes had balls we'd see a completely different lineup on Wednesay. Maybe something like:

---Fellaini---Cleverley---
---------Kagawa-----------
---Nani---Mata----Janujaz-
---------Rooney-----------

But we won't. I'm sure Ashley Young'll get a recall, and Rooney and RVP will be up top - not passing to each other - again.

It'd take major balls from Moyes to field 12 players including 1 that is ineligible!

You do realise you just portrayed something like a 3-2-1-3-1 (without the defenders)? :D

But anyway, you are right as well, both Rooney and van Persie have been bad recently. So whoever gets dropped for Kagawa, I'd be happy. There's no chance of that happening though. That and also the inclusion of Nani.

I still think the best and most fluid attacking four, with Fellaini (or Carrick) and Cleverley behind them, would be something like this:

---Mata----Kagawa----Januzaj---
----------Rooney/RvP------------

So, rumours out that the board has had some discussion of new manager. Not sure if it is real or not, but honestly, who is available to replace him? rumours out for Van Gaal, Capello who will be out of contract after the World Cup, but are they really the right ones?

The best would be Klopp, but he seems to be tied down by BVB and he was very happy there before, not so sure this year as management and him seem to have more disagreements...But he would make the best use of our squad, Kagawa and Mata together.

There is a rumour that both Diego Costa and Diego Simeone will join Man Utd.
If you look at what Simeone did with Atletico, this could be the man United need now...

Can't see Simeone managing in England. More suited to the Spanish and Italian game. Would love to see Klopp coming over with Reus and Gundogan in tow but thats just wishful thinking.

I agree with you, thinking better simeone style is more Spanish or Italian. Klopp can be a good option and a player like gundocan could be very important for united :) Reus could be good too!

Don't agree. Simeone built this team around his own mould. He was a tough player that kept pressure on the midfield.
He would be very successful but with the right team.

This current man u squad is finished mentally and the needs to be massive changes. Similar to what pep did at barca with Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Deco, et al. The body language of the man u players against Liverpool says it all.

Klopp is the most obvious answer. From his latest comments in the press he's not loving the Bayernliga monopoly, and could be ready for a change.

He's shown an incredible ability to make a team more than its collective parts, develop unheard of talent and even replace key players without missing a beat.

If he was available this summer and we gave Moyes til Christmas - missing out on him - I would be devastated.

Not the least bit surprised, but devastated.

I don't see Klopp leaving Dortmund any time soon. He's got a "project" on his hands at the moment there and will see it through.

Just watched Moyes press conference on sky sport...seems he isn´t going anywhere.. so far

As long as he s in the job I wouldn't expect him to indicate anything different. Being the manager of any organization as big as this requires a heavy dose of political savy and combativeness. In a sense he s also applying for a possible next job every time he goes out there.

Surely he has though? Won the league. Won the domestic cups. Got to CL final.

What else can he achieve there? He's not going to overtake Bayern as they just buy his best player each season. He's also 23 points behind them (!!!!)

I think he's ready for a new challenge. ;)

beach, klopp lost his every important player(except lewa) to injuries throughout the season this year. bayern would still be the champs but the main reason of this crazy difference is dortmund's injuries. not to make it personal against you but I don't get why everybody keeps ignoring the extremely bad luck dortmund had this season. I know it was the start of the season but remember that they've beaten bayern in the super cup with a relatively healthy squad.

imo klopp would never leave his club under these poor circumstances.

tbf, I think you'll be OK next year with a couple defence/midfield additions. with Moyes still in charge.
