Manchester United Thread

Argh! It's Martin Atkinson!

So far he has:

17 Min: Given United an 'advantage' when fouled 2 yards outside the penalty area, centrally, perfectly placed for a free kick. The 'advantage' immediately went to an Everton defender.

21 Min: Gareth Barry clatters into Wayne Rooney in a similar position, no where near the ball. No foul.

23 Min: Welbeck plays a nutmeg through an Everton defender, get's taken down. No foul.

Edit: How are we not ahead?! Some great attacking play, no idea how we've not put it in. Rooney off the inside of the post, Welbz doin his thing and missing tight and a great chance for Giggs' header that went inches wide.

Playing pretty well to be honest. Fellaini has been solid.

I've been watching to match too, nothing wrong with the ref...i've also seen all those things...you see ghosts beach...

One couldalso question his decision in the pushing duel between Vidicand Lukaku. Both pushed the other, Vidic pushed first (no foul), Lukaku pushed harder (foul). Is that a mistake by the ref ? No. It's all very difficult to make those decioson (interpretation in a split second).

Good match.

I agree on the Lukaku one, not a foul for me. Also saw a replay of my third above, and that wasn't a foul.

All I need to know that Atkinson is hurting us is that Lee Dixon agrees with every decision ;)

FFS. Identical situation to what Atkinson did in the first half, when he gave us the 'advantage' and then no free kick, but gives it to Everton.

Almost a mirror image, one decision each way. Eventaully score from it.

Not complaining about the decision mind - it's the right one - but the inconsistency is so annoying.

Can't really complain about the performance though. We've been pretty unlucky, two posts, crossbar, created good chances, then a deflected cross falls perfectly to Oviedo. Good finish.

Well there we go. I think we've now conceded more goals in the last 5 mins of matches this year than the last 2 combined.

Should really have put this one to bed though. Welbeck needs to take a long look at himself and sort out what he wants to be. If it's a striker, he needs to go away and learn how to score goals. He missed an open net (hit the bar) from 3 feet at a point when we were absolutely battering Everton.

We're no longer a major footballing power. We don't spend like one, therefore we don't have the squad of one, therefore we are not one. It is that simple. Ferguson was a genius, I didn't even appreciate how much tape he was using to hold together this team.

Credit to Everton, they worked hard but are pretty lucky to win. Draw would have been fair imo.

you are, CL looks good - at least point wise + the league is competitive as never before this season as far as i remember, but you have to give credit to Everton who have a great season...

United will be back, but the competition is stronger as well.. it can all chainge untill end of this crazy season..

Sorry, I mean truly major. As I posted in this thread, we spend something like the 12th or 13th highest wages in Europe. There was time when we were the very best, but the Glazers have ensured we can't quite compete at the top - and being at the can be fine margins.

It'll be tight, but it's possible that Liverpool and United's wages will be about even this year. There wasn't much between them last season (which is the latest data set I have).

I feel bad for Moyes. He put out a good team tonight (Welbeck aside) and made the subs we all would have made. It always comes back to the manager, but we were pretty good against a strong Everton side.

I think there's an obvious difference between what both players are doing there.

Red card

 post of the day.

You really do get more enjoyment out of mocking others' misfortunes than your own good fortune.

Which means I genuinely can't believe you supported City more than 5 years ago.

beach, it's so easy to imagine how your reaction would be if fellaini was still in that blue shirt.

other foot is even higher

Definitely could have been red. Jonny Evans got sent off a few years back for challenging Stuart Holden in exactly the same way Holden challenged him. Sometimes outcomes determine punishment, rather than actions.

I'm just saying it's not clear cut. There's one angle where both plyaers body shapes are identical: both turned away from the challenge, both with studs perpendicular to the ground, both committed and both high.

Do I? or is it that you can't take even the tiniest bit of light hearted banter? You're so negative all the time. Bebo's post was funny

You're dead wrong but you can believe what you like.

I'm looking at the first sec of the video and I can't tell that Fellaini's intention is any innocent. the ball is right between them, mccarthy gets it and fellaini just kicks the guy straight in the thigh. sorry but that's how I see it. I couldn't care less if the things are against United or not.

godotelli, too much negativity here in this thread atm. as a city fan, maybe you should go and celebrate your victory somewhere else?

If you like to mother others, go and buy a cat...

So apparently we haven't won a Pl game since RvPs been injured.. Hmmmm
I'm sure the Gunner fans see the humor in that. Strange though how a new training staff comes and suddenly he goes from being one of the fittest players back to being injured off and on since Moyes started.

Doesn't look like Moyes has the confidence of the players.

He's not Fergie, so he's not been able to squeeze blood out of a stone as Fergie did with this squad over the past few seasons.

Too many players not playing to their potential either. A summer clearout has to be in the works, along with some repair work in January if possible.

If you like to mother others, go and buy a cat...
Yeah, my cat does whatever I tell him...

Does he fuck, the lazy bastard.

I can't blame Moyes, and don't get why Everton fans are harsh on him. He's not the second coming of Fergie, but he's an honest, dependable manager who has always been professional and pretty straight with everyone.

Yeah I don't think you can blame Moyes too much, the team needs a bit of an overhaul in some areas and its unlikely that process was or is going to be smooth. In my opinion Fergie didn't really try and rebuild the team since around 2008, so the next guy was going to have a huge task in this area.

I think that Moyes should leave. Of course I didn`t expect the same results like previous 20 years but I think that the main problem is motivation of the players and that winning mentality that Fergie inputs in players mind. It`s not lack of creativity, let`s speak with open cards, we have Cleverly, Kagawa, Rooney, Valencia, Rafael, Van Persie, Chicharito... Those players are high class. With the same team Fergie was demolishing other teams in Premier league. I can`t even remember when we look soo desperate in the field. We have the ball in the our feet and we don`t know what to do, that is not lack of creativity, that is wrong tactic! Yesterday we had Giggs in the middle for 90 minutes, I respect him a lot and experience he have is unbeliveable BUT he is 40 years old! How the hell Moyes expect Giggs to battle with players 20 years younger than him? Whole match Fellaini plays the ball background to Vidic and Smalling, what kind of midfielder is that? in tandem with Giggs who is outpaced by younger players we expect to win? no way!I don`t know why Rafael was replaced last night, if it`s becouse of injury ok but if its not then that is totally wrong decision. Rafael and Valencia were the real threat for Everton in the first half and then wrong substitutions.. sorry for long post but I have to share my opinion. with Moyes we can battle for Europa league this season. We are United our mentality is to win games!
