3-1 to bayer :TU:

Damn, might as well not watch now :(

Will be interesting, first time I remember that we'll see what fans wanted to see from the front, and what what Rooney and Kagawa have been begging for:

---Valencia----Kagawa----Nani----
---------------Rooney------------

On paper that looks wonderful, BUT, Giggs and Jones behind worry me as always.

Should be entertaining, hoping for a score draw, which I believe would see us through.

You need a striker like Rooney to get the best out of Kagawa. RVP is too slow - he doesn't really work on the counter.

Didn't need RVP last year, should have stuck with Rooney in front of Kagawa, and spent $24m (and huge wages) on a midfield.

Still, what odds on a disappointing 2-3?

Argh another of those weird situations where a keeper goes for it, player gets there first, keeper punches him in head and it's no foul.

Such a strange blind spot of referees - they never give those.

Leveurkersen are in excellent shape at home too. Great record there.

A draw would be just fine in my opinion. Funny how groups work out in the CL - ours looks really easy on paper, but because all the teams are able to take points off each other, it's actually harder to qualify. The easiest group to have is one with a terrible team that gets 0 points.

the bottom team in your group has 1 point?! that makes your group so much tougher I suppose?

No I'm saying it makes it easier when that happen, sorry shouldn't referenced our group.

The toughest groups might not have the hardest teams on paper, but have teams that take points off each other.

a team with a 40 year old player with one man up front leads 0-5 in one of best teams in Germany this season.

what are Leverkusen doing.. i would be mad as hell being their supporter.

As you say, team with an amazing home record (held the best team in the world there this season recently) gets thoroughly outplayed by plucky little English team with veteran midfield.

Definitely no credit to United or Moyes. That was just Leverkeusen being awful.

:D MUCH BETTER! forget the result, that type of football is Manchester United, every time we won the ball in our half we broke with speed and intent, had some very good individual performances tonight but mostly glad that we looked like a team again.

Kagawa/Rooney is :...

This is what happens when you put out a balanced side. Giggs was fantastic, still our most creative player at that age.

We probably got a slight glimpse of the football we might have played if RvP stayed at Arsenal and we didn't end up shoehorning other players to fit both him and Rooney in the side.

Leverkusen were really poor but a 5-0 win away from home in Europe takes a bit more than just one side underperforming.

I've often wondered how RvP would do back on the outside or in the middle..behind..rather than in front of Rooney. His hold up play in attack is quite possibly the best of all our players, but his more static play is indeed a detriment to Kagawa and Rooney at the moment. Wish we had this luxury problem in midfield. Jones is quickly making the purchase of Fellaini look like pure madness. (if it wasn't already)

He and Sir Alex are the two biggest United legend ever as far as I'm concerned. Some great ones in the past but they haven't done quite as much as these two have and I don't think anyone will EVER come close in the future either.

:WORSHIP:

yeah, i can see the Giggs statue around the stadium after his retirement.. only Ferguson, Law, Best and Charlton have a statue. as far as i know...

to bad the story of his personal life though.. i always liked him most of United team untill then.

The personal life thing is bullshit, musicians get knighthoods etc and they take all of the drugs under the sun, sleep with underage girls etc but everybody looks up to them, they dodge taxes the same as formula one drivers and movie actos. All things that are just as bad as what he did. Everybody is a hypocrite. He shouldn't get a statue for being the best human being, but as for being one of the greatest players for Man United he definitely should.

Sir Matt too.

I frankly don't care what he does in his private life, i don't watch his bedroom (or whatever), i watch his antics on the football field.

When I was younger watching a United Season Review video from the 93/94 season and I think it had a piece on Giggs having just signed a 5 year contract. With him being my favourite player that was the first time I remember thinking about the possibility of a player eventually having to retire. If I went back in time and told myself not to worry he'd be playing at the age of 40 my little mind would probably have been blown.

I agree he deserves all the plaudits for being a United legend on the pitch. But when you think about a public figure of such stature being a role model, and the things that surface from his personal life... you have to think twice before unveiling a statue of him outside the ground.

Of course in that regard he's not as bad as a Jimmy Saville or that meth head from Lostprophets who just confessed crimes of pedophilia. Or some other rockstars as you say.
But to shag your own brother's wife for 8 years is something unthinkable to me. I shudder to think what his parameters of morals are.

this.

we all do mistakes, but this for me ruined the image of Giggs as a true rolemodel legend and someone i can respect if i had to meet such person in real life.. He should have a statue DEFINETLY, but the scandal ruined my view of Giggs..
