hahaha, after all the ties, yeah...1-1 seems possible...yet, i hope for a 2-1 match...of course Man U, but let's be real...their FULL team vs our HALF team...sigh

Its gonna be a hard game today, so I will be chuffed with a point away at Chelsea. We can take them to Old Trafford later in the saeson when our players are back and show them who is still the boss. ;)

Ferguson targets £12m Defoe
Sir Alex Ferguson will attempt to prise Jermain Defoe from Tottenham this week in order to solve Manchester United's striker crisis. Ferguson will need boardroom approval to finance the £12m deal but is confident of signing the Spurs striker, who scored for Tottenham in yesterday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool. Tottenham are reluctant to sell a player who has been at White Hart Lane for only seven months but would be expected to accept a substantial offer.
Daniel King, Mail on Sunday.

Highly unlikely I feel,Defoe will get a huge number of games at Spurs now that R.Keane is out and why would he not choose that?

We need another striker as Oles career seems 2 b over!

So y shouldnt Defoe come as he will get REGULAR CL football!

Anyway heres hoping we should of bought him from West Ham in the first place!

I'm sure,we will have a fourth striker now that Ole is out,I'm positive of that.It was Fergie that came out with the idea of having 4 strikers to ensure of a good run domestically and in europe and now, most top clubs are having that same mentality.

A very good performance from us (considering our top players are out). If we had Ruud a few of those chances may have went in.

My sentiments exactly. I don't think we're gonna do too bad for the time being.
Hopefully we'll get at least a near full team in a month, then we can really compete.

yep were definately missing our strikers! forlans gotta cut off his hair and get some white boots, then he'll at least look a bit dangerous:D

All the ganes b4 Rio is back but we should have Saha Ronald and Heinze back by then!

The only problem is Ronaldos fitness! :l

Weneed to be no fewer than 6 points behind or maybe 3 because anymore is to much!

What do you guys think?

If we play anything like we did today (and score goals) we should beat Norwich and Dinamo quite well. Blackburn are poor at home, so we'll have a chance there and if Everton play like they did against Arsenal today we might win.

Everton was not bad...just that Arsenal was too good!!!

yet, i have to say, other than our defense was all Keane (who is a DH)...we played quite well...and of course, Mr. Forlan who makes me hate him more everytime i see him play!!! Bellion should've been subbed on eaarlier for a better effect i believe...

but nice attack and against a full powered Chelsea, 1-0 (from a small error) is really good...seems like we can still hang on until Ferdinand comes back!!!

P.S. Ronaldo and Heinze won't play right when Olympics are over...they will get at least 4 weeks rest...if not, Ronaldo will get really tired in mid to end season

I know we all hate Forlan. And he deserves it. He messed up so many passes and shots on goal. But I have to admit that as soon as he came on, our game stepped up a gear. Smith isn't a complete striker like Ruud, Saha or Forlan cuz he's a support striker. Even though Forlan isn't the greatest of players but atleast he was upfront, waiting to score more often than Smith. IMO, Forlan should be brought on earlier on like at half time or something. Even if he messes up, he's bound to eventually score if he's on the pitch for longer.

Forlan hould be kept as far away from the pitch as possible, the mans a laughing stock, there is no way on earth he is good enough to wear the shirt, could you see him getting in either chelsea's or arsenal's squads? no! and thats why he should'nt be in ours , ship him out.

I agree, and imo the exact same thing applies to bellion (why on earth did we sign him!!?? :|), kleberson and to a lesser extent djemba djemba, none of these four players should be allowed anywhere near a united shirt, we need top quality players if we want to compete, and these guys are far from that :(

And about the match, neither team deserved to win that game, their goal only came about from stupid errors on our part (what was howard doing diving at the ball like that ? o_O) and they never threatened after that.

We didn't have many chances of our own either, but we controlled the possession and just weren't able to break down their 8 man defence ( ).

Giggs should have scored that header near the end too :(

Also, defoe is good, much better than forlan at least :D ( but then who isn't ;) ), although i seriously doubt tottenham would want to let him go..

Here's hoping anyway, because we really need another striker, forlan doesn't count imo, and solskjaer's career is probably over now :(:(

Look at it this way guys,Ranieri's Chelsea beat us 1-nil via a penalty last season, now Multi-Million-Stars of Jose "Pigsy Proud" Mourinho beats us 1-nil via our mistake...a lost is a lost, but not much of a difference is it? They still looked normal to me,I cant remember Howard making more than 5 saves.

WHOA WHOA, man you cant be serious about eric djemba, he played a good game yestreday, he is a very capable player, and as for kleberson, he hasnt played enough for you to determine that he needs to never wear a united jersey, he is a world cup winner, he started all of the gmaes and was MOTM in a couple of games, he needs to settle in with the english culture and his teamates and he will be fine... i agree about forlan and bellion, they suck balls........

Keane was all over the defense, i would rather put Keane as a CB than O'Shea or Brown...keke, Fortune was nice as a LB...him and Giggs worked quite well

but O'Shea as a DH was really bad...

hehe sorry i get carried away sometimes ;). Djemba and kleb aren't as bad as forlan or bellion, its just that i don't think they are good enough to be playing for us either.

Look at what northstandhero said, would either of those 2 get i the arsenal or chelsea squads ? I don't think so, so we should sell them and bring in some quality imo :)

well mate i hear what your saying, as fo chelsea, they are not running a business, they are some billionares playground, once ambromivich gets arrested or killed by the mob, all of those players go away, and chelsea goes back to being chelsea, Sir Alex realizes he has a business to run thats why his signings are cheap, and not extravgant, United have all the money in the world, but they dont spend it foolishly, bellion was a risk, and two million is friggin peantus , so is hte 6 we paid for smith, Sir Alex is prepping united for the future, not buying every player now so he can compete with the abromivichs now, he is being a sound business man. Look at his other signing, Rossi, the best young forward in europe, garica from barcelona, not to mention ronaldo, miller,
spector, flecther, etc... the key is not to spend to much for players, as chelsea is doing, what would happen if ambomovichs billions go away? chelsea would go bankrupt on player salaries, would they not?

Seems as if Ole might not play again :(
Got this from Skysports.com :

Lars Peterson, of the Gothenburg Medical Centre where Solskjaer will undergo the surgery, admits the prospects of the experienced attacker playing again are slim.

"My main target is not to get Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back on the football pitch," Peterson told the News of the World.

"My starting reference will be to get him to have a functional knee in the long term.

"There has been progress since the last operation 10 months ago but very little.

"Ole and I have decided to operate next Monday. Then we will have to wait and see.

"If things go well, he may be able to play again after at least a year or so but that will be a bonus."

Did we actually sign rossi ? I remember reading that we were going to, but then i remember seeing somewhere a list of our signings and he wasn't listed, so i assumed it didn't happen..

<-- confused :)

And sad news about ole :(

Thats a shocker for a great player, but i would say he never realised his potential. he's always seen as a bit part player for United, which is a shame for such a great finisher.

he played here in Italy and I never heard of him... and he had ZERO caps with first team!
seems quite strange, considering the situation of his (former) team
dude, he was 15 at the time, and he played for the italian national team the u-18............. he has only played with parmas youth squads...

Toon get ready to dump £8m Dyer
Kieron Dyer will be kicked out of Newcastle if the club receives an offer of £8million. The England midfielder will be axed after pushing Newcastle and their fans to the limit in a row over where he plays. Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd is prepared to sell Dyer for the right money because the England star is refusing to back down over his wish to play only in central midfield. Dyer's situation at St James's Park will trigger a transfer scramble with Manchester United and Arsenal both interested, although his £50,000-a-week wage may prove a problem.
Simon Bird, Daily Mirror

We're not in for a striker apparently but Sir Alex has made it publically known over the past seasons that he is admires Dyer.So perhaps United would sign him? 8 million for Dyer is suitable enough and that number 8 is waiting for him at Old Trafford.
