Manchester United Thread

Rooney, RVP and Chicarito all score this evening. Happy days. Come back safely please.

Also, that's Chicarito's 30th goal in 45 games for Mexico. That's an insane rate.

Well they took Chicharito off because of cramp apparently.

He's supposedly not up to full match fitness, probably because he hasn't played much for us recently. Not fair on him.

The Sun are reporting that Fletcher's surgery went well (in January) and that he's back in limited training. Plans are to re-integrate him into the squad in the summer pre-season.

This may sound very harsh, but I think it's terrible news. It's a giant excuse to spend another season without a truly quality central midfield. And you just know that Fergie is gonna do it.

Watching France v. Spain have to say that Pogba's already showing a higher level than Cleverley. Admittedly he was a bit crap in our reserves last season, but I'd swap him and Tom today. Sigh.

I think Pogba has a bit of a bone to pick with people and thus he's playing really well in his breakthrough season. Much like Cleverly in this first season after being loaned out so many times. The problem starts to arise when other's start to understand your strengths and weaknesses and your faults start to accumulate. Especially when you watch them play more often, you'll start to notice their faults more. How many Pogba games have you seen this season??

Don't get me wrong though, I think he's a fantastic prospect and am sad that he chose to leave, but time will tell if he can maintain this form for so long...

On other news, interesting article about the Red Devils out to get revenge against the Black Cats...should be an interesting game this weekend, especially with the Chelsea clash on Monday as well

WTF?! We play Saturday AND THEN MONDAY?! that's a bit ridiculous isn't it. Surely that could be played on Wednesday? bit of a lull with most United fans at the minute, the league we just need to stay motivated to cross the line so the FA Cup is pretty important for that big game focus.

they moved the Chelsea match because Chelsea have to play in the Europe League on Thursday.

We should have the squad to handle it. I obviously would like us to go all out at Sunderland just to make sure of the league, but Fergie will prolly field a reserve team Saturday morning.

I think Rafa will do the same, as if we're honest he's far more concerned with his legacy than guiding Chelsea to a CL spot. He certainly isn't going to be around next season!

Really Beach? FA Cup is the priority surely, I know we shouldn't be counting our chickens but we really have the league all but sealed at this point.

O Shea`s roughness on RvP is a bit troubling. Hope that yellow card will cause him to become more cautious.

Gotta love Sunderland's player acting like VP hit him in the face..idiot. The VP yellow was fair for dangerous play but I wish players would get yellows for acting like they got hit...zero contact there.

It looks like it, unfortunately.

Looking forward to the game tomorrow. I guess Chicharito the, and Rooney will start up front. I'd love to see Kagawa start aswell. Did a really nice job (moving through the lines) against Sunderland.

Those 2 up front seems like a given, will be curious to see who will be on the wings.. Guessing Welbeck and Nani, though I haven't checked to see what the status on the latter's health is to see if he can even play at all.

Kagawa has a goal or assist every 120 minutes this season for us, that figure was 119 minutes at Dortmund last year. I really hope he becomes a mainstay in the team next season.

Agreed with Dplane, I have to think we'll see Jones, Nani, Welbz, Rooney, Giggs and Chicarito tomorrow midday.

Think Chelsea will win though. We never do well at the Bridge.

Hernandez seems too score nearly everytime so by that logic were already winning 1-0. :))

I think it depends on the day which team turns up, also if we do get ahead we really need to put them to the sword which will be difficult with the home support carrying Chelsea forward at times.

If Hazard starts..we re possibly fucked..if he doesn't, we could win. Still trying to wrap my head around the fact our team continuously allows the little man to run rampant. Our defense is very good when it anticipates and marks properly to make up for some lack of pace. We virtually made Ronnie seem invisible in the two matches against Madrid, same with Bale vs Tottenham at their place or Suarez vs Pool..surely we can properly mark the little Belgian?

Ah well. We looked knackered and in general just lackluster, barely created anything.

In hindsight I think SAF got the team's wrong for Saturday and today, we needed a fresher Kagawa and Carrick today I thought because Chelsea's trio of Hazard, Mata, Oscar all starting already put us at a disadvantage with some of our bigger names missing and Carrick having played 2 day's ago wouldn't help, could have been more than 1 had they been more clinical.

Not much to play for now, apart from City at home but otherwise it's just coasting to the finish line. I guess mission accomplished when it comes to wrestling back the title but we need some adjustments in the squad to improve on that in the Summer.

I'm most worried about Cleverley. He's looking less and less like the answer to our midfield woes every week.

Bizarrely I could kind of care less about the FA Cup. Can't sort out why in my head.

Just hope that we get the 10 points we need from the remaining games. We've basically slowed to a crawl since Madrid, and while that was good enough against Reading and S'Land, we'll get spanked by City and then also have to play Chelsea and Arsenal...

May sound weird but kinda glad we lost. SAF seems like he needs some motivation to strengthen the team over the summer. We need some more energy on the pitch.. This team has shown lots of potential but remarkably little urgency.

We just don't want to win the FA Cup anymore do we?

Getting beyond ridiculous now.

I'm most worried about Cleverley. He's looking less and less like the answer to our midfield woes every week.

He never was the answer. He's got enough talent to play a tidy game but he'll never, ever be anything remarkable.

I can't work out how Valencia is selected every week, he's been off form for United for a couple of months while Nani has shown glimpses of form when he plays (today not included, but the whole team was knackered today) I just feel Nani has more to offer than Valencia right now.

They've all been shite. You have to go back a while to find a bunch of wingers that have been this mediocre for Utd.

God, watching Lucas Moura for PSG tonight...what could have been. Then again you can't compete with batsh*t mental oil vanity projects on transfers.

Ferguson needs to stick Nani on the right for the remaining matches. No more fannying about with Welbeck wide left, Valencia being crap. Like him or hate him Nani is far and away our most talented winger, and if playing him into form is the only way, then so be it.

I'd rather have Danny boy on the wing than Nani if he has another stinker like against Chelsea. He's been very consistent since the Madrid first leg.

Welbeck on the right wouldn't work, he's definitely a good option for the left, Nani is so 'in and out' of the team that it's difficult to gauge if its the lack of fitness or playing time or he's just having an off day.

either way I agree with Beach, I'd rather give Nani a constant run than see Young and Valencia, people used to give Park a hard time but those two are so inspirational it's baffling.

Doesn't matter who you start, you're getting battered on Monday!

I think battered is a stretch, but we'll lose. But still win the league. So I won't really care that much.

We should have comfortably been up 3-0 at the Etihad this season, easy to forget that with what transpired. I'll put on my little conspiracy hat and say that certainly sky and the media wouldn't mind if the title race goes on a bit longer. Wonder if Mike Dean is aware...

But I agree, as with last season once the pressure is off City's stars seem to be able to play. Unlike in the CL, or the crunch matches this year.

When United lose it could get at least a little more interesting, but I still think even this United side aren't poor enough to drop 12 additional points in 8 matches.
