Another "beloved" spanish team fan here. I was also really disappointed by that corner, however I think it's a bit much to take it on the ref and assign shirts of white/red/blaugrana to him as they usually are. Think about it... were United to score from such a late corner he'd have MourinhoHELL thrust upon him. 1-1 works best/most peaceful, as both teams are relatively content with the result. That corner would have passed the 3:00 mark because United had no interest to really hurry it up [they wanted to make sure once the ball is kicked away the game would end]. I agree most of the times the corner is and should be given, but...

TL;DR - The ref simply chose the most uncontroversial thing, seeing as he's mostly covered this way.
 
8 Premier League teams in a row for us now, my statistician head doesn't even want to go into the odds of that.

But it does mean for the first time in years Chelsea have to actually earn their spot in the final, so that's something :)

Assuming we beat Reading and Chelski beats their challenging opponent it will indeed be nice to know that if they wish to win the FA cup this year..that they won't have an easy path and will actually have to play some decent opposition. So I am just fine with this draw. Gotta love having to (possibly) play them 4 times this season. The jury is still out on whether that they means somewhere up there, or the blue dudes from London.

Good win tonight. Would have been easy to take the eyes of the ball in this one given the Madrid game and the league excitement. Very professional, bit of a fluke Reading goal and that was it. As usual we should have scored more, but I can obviously forgive some wastefulness.

Nani was outstanding, really good to see he's chosen to respond in this way rather than sulking. Was on a different level out there. Has to be favourite to get the right wing berth against QPR.

Which brings me onto Saturday's match. For me this is the 'Everton' game of last season. The match where - if we win - I will start to get confident that the league is going to be ours. Win and our lead stretches and City have to overcome a talented Chelsea side on Sunday. Lose or draw and it's an invitation to City that we're not as home and dry as the media want everyone to believe.

Knowing this is Manchester United, I can't see anything but us losing and making this as painful as possible on supporters. It's in our DNA to do things the hard way.

We will almost definitely drop 12 points in the next 12 matches in my opinion. The question will be if City don't drop any.
 
One game at a time for me, we could be onto something a bit special but won't get too excited just yet.

Nani coming into the team during the crunch is a big boost, hopefully he can get a run of games going now.

God I love that guy..even when he doesn't score himself he does so much on the field. If RvP and Nani ever fully start connecting (assuming the latter stays) we'd have some real trickery on our hands.

W regards to Jones; even if he is going to be ready for the Real game, I'd assume SAF will milk this and pretend like he might be out for "a few weeks". Wouldn't be surprises to see about 3 changes to the starting 11 for the 2nd leg.

First up though..QPR away. I don't think we're in the clear for the title yet, but if we win there I'm ready to start believing.

We need to do another 'job' on Ronaldo, he'll be in inspirational form coming back to Old Trafford to what I suspect will be a great reception.

more positive news on the Nani front, its quite clear whats holding things up, he wants some reassurances regarding first team football and I can see his point. hopefully he get's on a decent run now and he'll sign in the Summer.
 
Entertaining night in my home town if not for footballing reasons. Our U21's beat Liverpool in a pretty forgettable game but the lads we were stood with let off flares and we almost got kicked out.

I wish we had a football team so United could play here more often.

I've got a memory from when I was 10 years old watching Giggsy sign a 5 year contract on a 1993/1994 Season VHS and thinking I can't imagine that one day this young player will retire. Well he's taking the piss now!

Been a joy to watch all these years and I look forward to another year in which he'll probably receive more calls for his retirement and will probably once again prove those doubters wrong. It's like people haven't noticed his dips in form down the years.

Incredible stuff really, I do think we'll see more players go on for longer due to modern science but he's really trying to set the bar extremely high.
 
We should keep him around til he's 50...turn him into an emotional impact sub. Case in point; the applause he got from the Madrid fans. Hell other teams might become so overwhelmed with admiration they all forget to play and let him slip in a goal or two..."for old time's sake"
 
With all the talk of Bergkamp getting a statue at Arsenal if any one player deserved a statue it's Giggs, he deserves a lot more to be honest.
