Dear Fergie:

Please please please please don't give into temptation and play a reserve team tomorrow. If we can maintain a 12 point lead it means more to 99% of United fans then the Madrid match.

Thanks.

Dear Beach,

We won't field a reserve team I can assure you that but we need to rest players for the priority which is Madrid on Wednesday. we are 9 points clear with a game in hand in the league, were doing OK aren't we?

We have won the Premiership a record 19 times but only the European Cup 3 times, that isn't good enough for Manchester United, I have said it many times we should have more than that, especially with the two finals in recent years not going are way my desire to get that 4th is a major priority.

Thanks for the advice though,

Sir Alex

We're lucky that unlike last season we haven't had as many injuries except for our defense and to a lesser degree our wingers. Last season was stupid ridiculous. I'll have to dig up the link I found recently that listed the number of injuries we had compared to all other teams last season. The fact we still almost won the epl is a credit to the amazing depth of the squad. I don't see us winning the CL this year.. Even though SAF seems convinced it's possible with Bayern, Dortmund and FCB playing well. Our attack is arguably the most potent inthe world atm, with in form the wingers, and a solid backup for Carrick and a player like Hummels we'd be scary as hell. I hope SAF doesn't think too much about Madrid yet. Expected lineup:
De Gea
Jones/Smalling/Ferdinand/Evra
Welbeck/Anderson/Carrick/Giggs
Rooney/Hernandez

Though I hope rvp, nani and kagawa play to pick up more minutes again. The second especially those 2 need the action rather than rest ahead of Madrid imho. Cleverly to get rested.

Great performance today. Everton were full strength and are realistically the 4th/5th best XI in the league - and we allowed them 2 shots on target. Professional job - more like the title winning sides of 3/4 years ago.

RVP is slightly worrying me - another easy chance onto the post - but he made up for it. As we close into the final few games, that post width can be the difference. Still, surely he must be hungry as he closes in on his first major honors in almost a decade...

Also, I wrote off Sir Ryan Giggs earlier this season off the back of 6 months of woefulness in the middle - but good lord he's back as a winger. 39 years old. Scored in 21 consecutive league seasons. That is absolutely astounding/terrifying.

Good weekend for us, onto Madrid! Hopefully Kagawa, Hernandez, Nani and Carrick benefit from the rest.

yeah RvP's been a bit off the mark lately. Another game where he easily could ve had a hattrick but overall he had a solid game. An assist,a goal, and some brilliant buildup play along with some great defensive clearances. Any other player and that would ve been a great game...in the minds of a lot of us it's not simply because his first touch and finishing is off, but that's obviously not fair to the guy. Much man love there. Rooney was great on the defense end too and it always amazes me to see how high he can jump to beat other players in the air. Kinda quiet offensively today though. Giggs..what can I say, a truly legendary player. He looks like he has at least another year in him. Crazy. Vidic was superb and Evans, Jones, Rafael and Evra were very solid. Not a heck of a lot to do for De Gea.The Fellaine factor, pretty much became a non-factor. You could tell he was getting quite frustrated at times, and that's understandable..Utd did a great job containing him. Game was definitely far more even in the first half but in the 2nd half it was mostly a walk in the park imho.

I never cared who won the league I prefer anyone other than Mutd  . I`m glad they beat Everton ! :)) Arsenal get`s £2m more from RVP*deal, if they win the league though.

:RSCARF:

Another win and hopefully a step closer to the title! That's what happens City when you poke the bear :SMUG:

Can't wait for Wednesday, hopefully we can get out of Madrid with a chance because Old Trafford will be rocking, expect similar atmosphere to Barca 07/08. Carrick, Nani and Kagawa got a decent rest, I would have started Rooney anyway but hopefully RVP will be 100% going into Wednesday.

I for one refuse to get carried away in February, no matter how far ahead we are!

Looking forward to the Madrid game too, it's a daunting task, but I firmly believe we can get a result. At the very least I expect a good performance, I can't face going out of Europe with a whimper again.

Extremely pumped and nervous about tommorow, just hope we don't get battered. Time to get your lineups out.

-------Van Persie---------
Rooney-------------Nani--
---------Kagawa----------
-----Carrick--Jones----
Evra-Vidic--Ferdinand-Rafael

Cleverley will play. I think you're right about the back 4, but we'll see Carrick/Cleverley/Jones all out there:

-----------------De Gea-----------------
--Rafa--------Rio------Vida---Evra------
--------Carrick--------Jones------------
---------------Cleverley----------------
----Valencia----------------Rooney------
------------------RVP-------------------

With Hernandez and Kagawa both to come on fairly early. I actually wouldn't eb completely shocked to see Hernadez start over RVP. I think Real's high line leaves room for exploitation, and fergie likes a shock lineup.

Also, this was the first time I've seen much of Lucas Moura - rather good. Definitely not 'worth' the money PSG paid, but when you have the ole oil cheat code, what is money really?

I'd of loved him at United, but am glad we didn't pay the ridiculous sum he eventually went for.

While Hernandez is faster than RvP, RvP has the better first touch. Not so sure Madrid will actually play a high line against us, but regardless of whether they do or don't..the bigger threat and shock SAF could employ is by placing RvP back in his former role behind the striker/slightly off on the wing, with Hernandez up top. While RvP's striking abilities are praised, sometimes folks tend to forget about his creative passing abilities, and ability to open up the field by confusing defenses.

I'd say that too

Feels such as a massive game this, shame it isn't a fixture for the final or semi

What do you all reckon their line up will be?

Think you'll score but I'm going for 3-1 to Real

Welbeck over Valencia is a good decision, imo

Concur w the Welbeck thing.

P. S. This is not in response to u Godo but any EPL fan hoping Utd or arsenal go out is a freaking idiot. It wouldn't make any of the teams in England look good if they perform poorly IMHO.

Fkin Ramos acting like a crybaby again. That's what I'm afraid off.. Real is far better at playing the theatrics against a physical Pl team that gives em plenty of chances to, drop to the ground like a sack of potatoes.
