Manchester United Thread

Agreed. Far more important that our Brazlian right back manages to stay fit this year! Still annoyed Fergie let Fabio out - we're going to need full back cover and it inhibits the growth of Smalling and Jones always getting moved around.

Lucas Moura just seems such a luxury at a time when we can't afford it. Unless something is up with Nani, or Young I guess, there's no need for him.

Especially if we end up paying more/ similar to what Chelsea paid for Oscar - someone we'd be more likely to mold into a position our team actually needs.

Sky is reporting that United look set to lose out to PSG in the chase for Moura, anyone found something more substantial?

That would be good for us.
We dont need him at all...we got 3 useful out and out wingers that we can rotate and we should stick to that.

I am more worried about the lack of cover in central midfield...and we are apparently not in for Nuri Sahin?

I love it, we finally find a player that isn't being coveted by one of the English sugar daddy clubs, and he gets poached by a French sugar daddy club. Curses.

But I do agree we don't need him at anything like that price.

The Nuri Sahin link went dead the same time Madrid were reported a pulling out from Modric deal.
Moura could yet be a failure, so a £30m risk isn't something I want United to pull out.

In other news, Berbatov rated at £5m while Shane Long rated £6m.. How?

Glad SAF has cleared that up, no Manchester United fan really has any right to hold anything against him anyway considering what he's done for the club.

And regarding a Lucas update

The Inter sporting director Marco Branca met yesterday afternoon with the President of Sao Paulo, Juvenal Juvencio, and formalized an offer for Lucas: 25 million. He heard an apology from the president are, Pauline, along with information that Lucas may not be sold for this amount, because St. Paul has turned down better offers from Manchester United and Anzhi, Russia. The conversation progressed.

The president of Sao Paulo asked the director of the Inter esporivo on the crisis in Italy. He asked if there is a light in sight and not heard an answer. Marco White does not see the end of the dark period of European football, and Italian in particular. The difference between last month and now is the time that Luke was seduced by the proposal from Manchester United. Long ago, said that his desire was to stay in Sao Paulo until the World Cup 2014. Today, thinks differently. In a recent meeting with the president of Sao Paulo, Juvenal Juvencio, the parents of Lucas made clear the desire to play for Manchester United.

He heard that there are better proposal, the Anzhi - in fact, the Russian club not formalized the offer, but indicated they can talk up the value offered by Manchester United. Luke's parents responded that Luke did not want to go to Russia. But you want to play for Manchester United. This may mean that St. Paul accepted any new onslaught of Manchester United, if it exists after the Olympics.

I still don't think we'd get Lucas, nor do we really need him...unless SAF knows something that we don't, along the lines of Nani not staying...

but I just read that Inter stroke a deal: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...lose-in-on-lucas-moura-from-sao-paulo?cc=4716

But anywayz, shouldn't we be looking at CMF??? unless he plans on placing Kagawa there.....I don't think Powell is ready for first team football...

Kagawa isnt a CM if you mean a CM like Michael Carrick...Shinji Kagawa plays best in the hole position behind a striker/forward.

Yes, Nick Powell isnt ready to be a starter for the first team but should feature in minor games or league cups.

my point exactly!! we NEED a CM...so where are the rumours of us linked with one?? why are they all wingers or AMF?

With that said, can't wait for the preseason games with most of the team, would like to see how Vidic is now, and how Kagawa and them link up with Nani, Rooney and Welbeck

Moura can play as CM. AMC. Left Winger. Supporting player in attack.

Also watched Brazilian league for fun watching Santos, Sao Paulo, Vasco Da Gama and Lucas along with Neymar were sooo good to watch. Their creativity, pace, dribbling, first touch... Balance. You have to see that with your own eyes even once ;).

Dede on Vasco is no doubt, one of the best Brazilian young defenders around. No wonder he was touted next Thiago Silva.

I would get Lucas. Just to say, we can pull off such transfers too, if we want to, so you can't detronize us as easily yet ;). (and yep. Chelsea got Oscar who is v. good, but he is not even close to what Lucas can do, believe me :P).

Btw we don't see Lucas starting in U23 Olympics games. Could it be that transfer talk is in progress then? Just a hypothesis...

Here's the Europe tour squad:

De Gea, Lindegaard; Evra, Ferdinand, Jones, M Keane, Vidic; Anderson, Carrick, Nani, Powell, Lingard, Scholes, Valencia, Young; Berbatov, Hernandez, Kagawa, Macheda, Rooney, Welbeck

VIDA!!! :SMUG:

I read/heard that Mickey Phelan will be in-charge of the game in Norway because Sir Alex is handling "any other club business" issues. SAF to re-join in Gothenburg.

Transfers done by the time the squad gets to Gothenburg lads? Cocks out.

Get tickets for the v Hannover 96 match next Saturday. Really looking forward to it. Also it will be the first time my girlfriend accompanies me to a match.

Slightly concerned by the lack of goals at present, it is pre-season though so it's not too bad.

Some of the one touch stuff on display today was beautiful, Kagawa has slotted in perfectly so when he came on you could see the difference.

Nani and him seem to have struck up a good partnership.

It's a shame Nani is most likely to be sacrificed for Moura.

I think cash strap Malaga has some business first at least for the future. Isco would be too good, too cheap to pass on. £7m !

WUUUUUUUUUUUT ?!!!

If Ferguson let this happen you can call him the worst coach E-V-E-R

And no offense to Lucas he's an amazing player but Nani proved that he's untouchable in Manchester United.

I doubt Nani's going anywhere, he's pretty integral and I can't see a destination for him at the minute. Barcelona and Real are well stocked.

With the fact Nani tried to (inadvertently via agent) hold the club to ransom with a huge contract and then stalled in negotiations added to the fact Fergie just have Valencia the No.7 shirt (which we all know means "you're guarenteed a place" in Fergie terms) it seems like Nani, Young and Moura will all be playing for the LM position.

Doesn't matter anyway, As the special one said Moura may well go to Paris

:(( Why does this always happen

Yeah, I've read in Brazilian news today that Lucas has an agreement with PSG and Sao Paulo will be more than happy that PSG met their (abusive) asking price.

Welcome to our world. Having transfers hijacked by sugar daddies summer after summer after summer...

To me it's such a disappointment though, seeing promising Brazilian youngsters selling out to sheiks money so soon in their careers, as well as seeing living legends such as Thiago Silva doing the same in their prime.

PSG is building a team to not only win the French league finally but the CL as well over the coming years. That's their goal! Easier said than done of course but it's a real ambitious project in one of the greatest cities in the world!

It's hardly bad living in PARIS instead of Manchester or Liverpool let's say and getting paid millions, is it? And in case of Thiago Silva and Zlatan, who's to say PSG won't be stronger than Milan this upcoming year and actually challenge likes of Barca for title? Probably they'll do that in their 2nd CL season I feel but they could well be stronger than Milan in next 3 years if they're not already. I think in a few years, people will see that these players not only left for money but for GLORY as well. Just like guys like Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure and co. now have a league medal to go with their fat paychecks. It's a different story if you're going to Qatar to get paid or a team that actually wants to and probably will win stuff. Also Thiago Silva didn't sell out, Milan thought the offer from PSG is too good to refuse and 'accepted it'. He even signed a new contract and mentioned he's perfectly happy to stay! But when Berlusconi and Galliani WANT To sell you for that price, in a way you're forced out actually.

It's one thing joining Anzhi and living in Makhachkala! A completely different thing joining a revolution while living it up in Paris!

But in any case, the part that puzzles me and what I don't understand is, why United and PSG were fighting over him when neither hardly need him. He's a very promising player but look at the other players in those two squads! Who's he gonna replace at PSG? They were already stacked!

The problem with all these kids is that their 'ownership' model is such that they almost always go to the highest bidder. I find it tragic, cause most of the time the clubs that pay the most are also the clubs that least need the player. For Moura to go either United or PSG is a waste - he'd be much better served going to a midtable club somewhere in Europe with a need for a starter - but of course those clubs can't afford these prices. So he'll go for a massive fee, get limited playing time, be labelled an overpriced flop and then join the kind of club he should have started at in 2 years time.

I'm fascinated by what will happen with PSG. Paris is obviously a lovely city (the missus is from there) but it's not historically a big football town. They've never had great attendances, and from speaking to locals football is kind of looked down upon by the typical Parisian. I could be wrong of course, but that's what I heard.

I also love that Platini was all about FFP until the PSG buyout. Since then he's been remarkably quiet. Guess he's gotta keep working hard at accepting bribes/favors/cash so that he'll be ready to take over from Sepp when he retires.
