Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

He's being courted by City, why wouldn't he ask for it knowing full well they'll pay it.

Because even a fairly dumb footballer (I have no idea if Hazard is typical in this regard) should know that City's wages are not the barometer of what you'd get at any other club in Europe?

Fine, if he wants to go to City then that's all well and good, but he can't honestly believe that any other club could pay that?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I doubt he cares, he'll just know that City will pay an obscene amount.

That said, given only City would pay that anyway, 200k doesn't even seem enough. Only 100k after tax.

He's clearly not greedy enough. :P

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

FFS Lami no "Dream Teams" :P it just leads to disappointment when a player eventually doesn't turn up, best to look at what we got and discuss types of players that we need rather than actual individuals and whatever surprises we get the better the summer of 09' still haunts

"Well the Ronaldo money will surely be spent on Ribery and Benzema, or maybe Benzema and Douglas Costa"

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Re: Hazard, that's insane. What exactly has he done to earn that much? If that's true then the boy needs to come back to earth. Or maybe his agent just gone crazy high so that even if he goes for less it's still a bargain for him.

That's hardly a "dream team" though :P

All I did was add Tiote and Hazard. They're hardly dream team players atm imo. Well maybe Hazard is on the way but hey if we really do get Kagawa then that might do the trick too. So an addition of Tiote & Kagawa isn't exactly a "dream". And btw, I really wanted Tiote to join us last season. Good thing he's proven himself now. But not sure Sir Alex would go anywhere near him. He doesn't have to be world class, he just has to be the right player for the right position and does his job, which he does well imo.

EDIT: Maybe if Sneijder is up for grabs, I'd like to see this:

------------DDG------------
Rafael--Ferdinand-Vidic--Evra
----------Tiote------------
----Kagawa------Sneijder----
-Valencia---Rooney----Nani--

Are we still after Sneijder though?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Not sure about Sneijder as he's in that 'older age' bracket that we don't usually go for. Hasn't he been injured a fair bit this season too? Maybe if he's cheap, but not at the £30-40m price range that was being whispered in the summer.

If we had the money I wouldn't mind this line-up:

-------------DDG------------
K.Walker--Vidic--Rio--Evra
---------Tiote--Carrick
Valencia----Rooney----Muniain
-----------Higuain

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

We won't sign Tiote I know that much. He's African, SAF very rarely signs Africans for some seriously odd reason.

Diouf and the Djemba twins the only two?

FFS? Hope that isn't aimed at me, seeing as you kind of started the topic...

infarct what are the neutrals opinion (PLF? Lo Zio?) on this United team and were you think we need to improve, i'd say our current best 11 would be

Anyway, this season isn't finished quite yet. While it's still possible there's still hope. Admittedly, it's not much, but stranger things have happened.
Sounds like both Rio & Chris Smalling picked up groin injuries against Swansea, so depending on how bad they are we could have an interesting back line on Sunday...

I think I'm the one to blame

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

There's also Manucho from Fergie's African signings - though I think that he was a Quieroz special.

Tiote and Sigurdsson would fit into the types of signings Fergie has made since the Glazers came in. Established in the prem but also young, and shouldn't cost the world in terms of wages.

For the record, Tiote would be a great help and give our team some real bite, but I fear Sigurdsson, for all his undoubted talent is just too ponderous for the way we play/ want to play.

Martinez would be a great fit from a skill and positional needs sense - but I'm always dubious of players from countries with big leagues and teams - they always seem to want to go back!

It was in jest but yeah I didn't want random names thrown in as it just disappoints but then everyone started posting their ideal signings into an 11 so I thought fuck I might as well

I think I'm the one to blame

I know who to blame now when Martinez and Hazard don't sign! ;))

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Rumours circulating that Pogba is going to sign for Juve on a free transfer, I was wondering what you guys think about Pogba? What are some of his skills, and is he a promising talent?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Dont really know to be honest considering fergie hardly gave him a chance opting to play park in midfield instead when he could have done with a run out.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

From Andy Mitten - hadn't heard this before:

"United had agreed for Samir Nasri to sign. Nasri had met Ferguson and later texted him, calling him “boss” and saying how he was looking forward to the move. Then City offered a wage which would have made Nasri United’s best paid player. If Nasri didn’t want to go to City, his agent certainly wanted him too."

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Hadn't heard those exact words, but had heard the basic story.

He was ours and then suddenly wasn't, only now he had a gold plated toothbrush.

Sickening.

He's got a good range of passing, a very good shot from range and is very strong physically.

He's shown flashes of talent but he's still very raw. Juve would do well to loan him out because I can't see him getting game time ahead of Giaccherini or Marrone, nevermind the regular midfield triumvirate.

With Giandonato looking promising as well, I'm not really sure why Juve are clamouring to sign Pogba up.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I think it's more to do with his scum agent looking to turn some money.

Unrelated - but we just won the reserve league playoff, on penalties against Villa. Despite that, not sure I see any of these lads making the step up in the immediate future. 9 of the squad were playing in the Youth Team last year, so that says something about how young they are.

Will Keane and Petrucci perhaps. Hopefully both get on the summer tour, at least.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I thought Sam Johnstone (6'5"!) did well in goal as well. Some good saves, including several in the shootout.

Zeki Fryers seems to have "grown" since his Carling Cup outings, so if he's signed a new deal I reckon we'll see more of him in the first team.
Jesse Lingard could be another, but needs to fill out a bit first.

Always had high hopes for Josh King as well, but didn't see enough of the game to see if he's improved. Same with Matty James, but like Petrucci, he's had a tough time with injuries.

Most of them will likely go out on loan next season, so hopefully someone ;) will be more optimistic after they've had first team experience.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Well last weekend as Prem champs,

Been a poor season in all comps...

Few squad additions and maybe abit of luck on the injury front next season we might have a shot at the league and decent runs in the domestic cups....

would take two really big signings to improve european prospects next season, that is unlikely.....

Gonna be tough to possibly lose on goal diff but city have been the better team over the season, and watching my close city pals chewing their nails off and refusing to get giddy reminds me of our first prem all them years ago...

So its down to the wire, winner takes all, and all that bollox....

but I aint changing the thread title till the fat bitch cranks a tune!!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'm looking forward to tracking the youngsters when they go out on loan next year.

It's the way we're doing things so we have to have faith in them.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I say sell Rooney and replace him with Soldado and Llorente.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Holy moly, a press article on ref's not being biased towards United: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...le-and-handed-the-Premier-League-to-City.html Shock!

I just want the season to be over, learn who we're getting in, get rid of a good few players (Park, Berbatov, Owen, Bebe) settle the stupid, greedy little c*nt that is Pogba so he can go sit on the bench at Juve and then group together and try to get our trophy back.

(and then realistically sob each day as City keep buying our targets and we buy another homeless dude from Portugal to line the pocket of some scummy agent)

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

For Sunday - I'm actually serious doubting we'll even get a win at this point. Not sure if everyone has followed the latest bout of defender injuries, but definitely out are Evans, Vidic and Smalling - with Rio questionable given last week's injury.

So it'll be Jones and Rio together for the 4th time - we've never won when they've started together.

Have our physios just given up?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I don't think we actually have any. Queiroz took them all when he left.

I had my doubts we'd get a win anyway, the Stadium of Light isn't a place we usually get easy victories and we won't have much to play for.
