Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Re: Injuries - the most worrying thing is that these aren't injury prone players. Vidic, Carrick, Valencia, Nani - none have really missed many games in the past but this season have joined the twins, Anderson, Cleverley and of course Michael Owen as perennial treatment table buddies.

Can it be that something in their training that has changed that is causing this?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Well, one game to decide the title. Can't do anything else now but believe. This team has shown a resilience that has had to make up for a lack of overall talent and an incredible injury record that is admirable, and if they can do it for one more 90 minute match, then that'll be enough to earn them their rewards.

Come on United!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'm not nervous, not nervous, nope, not nervous, not at all nervousss...

Just thinking back to when we'd put out a gritty 4-5-1 performance consistently in these sort of games, but I think we don't have the midfield to do that anymore, we've lost so much energy without the likes of Fletcher (Which is even more amazing considering he was struggling with his condition).

But then I think back to when Fergie put Fabio and Rafael in the middle against Arsenal and we still pulled a victory out of the bag.

The cunt will score against us and win the title for City. It's written in the stars.

This. And City fans will claim him to be a club legend, even after he buggers off in a month to a place he actually wants to play football.

But regardless, City fans will need to seriously hope the price of oil stays at record highs if they hope to ever get near to 19. Oh and that their sugar daddy sticks around and buys UEFA off.

Hope we perform well today, kind of nervous atm...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Awful, they well and truly deserve their lead, I don't understand why Giggs and Park even deserve a starting place. Fergie that's a fucking awful decision to play those when they have been crap this season, and again today...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Abysmal performance.

No words needed.

Lord knows we need a big summer though I bet we won't get it.

City were just much, much better.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Not good enough, Manchester United teams normally don't bottle 8 point leads but this lot have, its going to be difficult to live this one down for years.

Congratulations to Man City :((

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

What's that? Park and Giggs played and we lost? Shocking stuff, would never have seen that coming.

In almost every single key match this year, Fergie has failed us with a stupid team selection. He needs a number two willing to stand up to him.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Just one player who has the ability to keep the ball would be a nice luxury next season, our ball retention under pressure was again shocking.

Now we need to win the rest of our games, in the unlikely event City slip up, it ain't over till it's over. But at the moment, they deserve it.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I don't care that we lost - City have only dropped 2 points there all year. I care that Fergie showed no f*cking testicles, playing some defensive minded bullsh*t formation with out of form players and no energy or verve.

That was the kind of tactics and performance that would convince me - if I were, say an Eden Hazard, that City are indeed on the up and that United are on the wane.

We're Manchester United. We should set out our team and play to our strengths, and see if the other team can beat us. We shouldn't need to play uber-defensive to have a chance against City. We've beaten them twice this season already!

In every single key match this year (and the last 2 CL finals) Fergie has been completely and utterly out-done tactically. We've also been thoroughly done by Wigan and Newcastle in that time.

This team is not bad. Weak in midfield, but that's Fergie's fault too. But if he'd started Welbeck and Valencia, pulled Rooney back into the hole at least we'd of played a team capable of winning. Instead we whimpered to our very deserved defeat.

I don't know if Fergie is past it or if we just desperately need a new voice in the tactics room, but this year he's been woeful. His man management and squad management is still the best in the world - he would have won the league in f*cking January with City's squad - but in a single head to head battle he's been crap again.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I genuinely don't believe Fergie knows what to do with the midfield or what style he wants to play and indeed which players he needs to fit that style.

I have no idea what the backroom staff do but whatever it is, it's been less effective since Quieroz left. Mike Phelan might be extremely good at his job but I'm having a hard time believing in it. Injuries and general tactical ineptitude are just two things that we didn't have when CQ was here.

We're in for a big summer. But then we say that every year.

If we don't sign a Martinez or a M'Vila when we seriously, truly having been needing that type of player for years then I really don't know what to say.

I massively rate Kagawa and Hazard but neither are the type of player we need and if we're bidding for them then it simply smacks of buying them so that our rivals don't have them. Much like with Ashley Young and indeed with Phil Jones.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Well, that was shit. The defeat I was expecting but the manner in which it happened was so meek.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Only if you rename the Spurs thread to "Champions League, here we...oh..."

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Unless you're going to do the same in the other threads that mention "Champions", you're just giving off an ABU attitude.

Thanks for stopping by.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

lol "ABU attitude". United is a really unlikable team though, so maybe I am "ABU".
The truth is that I really don't care about serie A.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Doesn't sound like Danny will play again this season :(

Classic from De Jong - come in from behind, hurt the player and the complain that it wasn't even a foul.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Looks a lot worse from this angle though.

I saw this live and De Jong really didn't wanna foul him. The idiot completely missed his tackle as he slipped though. He could've actually gotten the ball, so he went for it but then fell himself as you can see quite awkwardly too. Not intentional or anything.

And out for the rest of the season? well how long is he out for actually? cuz there are only 2 games and a week or so left anyway. :P

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yeah, not sure if he'll make the Euros now. Sucks for him, such an unnecessary tackle from De Jong. But when you're a 'hard man' that's what you've gotta do I guess.

I'm ready for this season to be over. I hope we sort out transfers out ahead of the Euros, it'll be torture watching prices go up during June/July!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Lots of chat that Kagawa deal is getting finalized. I'll believe it when I see it, but on the of it looks like a typical United signing. Young, relatively cheap, potential and marketable.

Would also mean we're probably not in for Hazard, and hopefully Park could be sold in the summer to leave us with Nani, Valencia, Young and Kagawa as wide options, with most of those also able to play across the middle.

I'm not a big fan of de Jong, but in all fairness he does not seem to even see Welbeck there. I don't believe this one was with intent to injure, but there are many examples where it looks like de Jong tries to kill careers.

Kagawa could be potentially brilliant, really rate him but not sure exactly were to best play him for us would be.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

That's the problem. Where the hell would he fit?

Almost like SAF is buying more and more attacking players so he can just ignore the midfield issues.
