Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Normally I would say it'll be difficult to get 3 points off Martin O'Neil's Sunderland at Stadium of Light but United has enough 'secret' agents in that team that will make sure the 3 points are sealed.

And I'm actually kinda joking but not fully. Guys like O'Shea, Brown, Richardson, Bardsley, usually don't play well against United as if they're almost scared of pissing off former fans or something. Guys like O'Shea and Brown would HATE to give City the title by keeping United from winning (assuming City aren't getting the points). Hopefully O'Neil won't let them get away with that, with subdued performances but with them having nothing to play for, I could see a poor performance from a few Sunderland players which should be enough for Man Utd.

I hope to see very little former Man U players in the starting 11. That's what I'd like to see as a neutral and both teams to give 100%, then it should be a difficult match for both and quite competitive.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

While that makes some sense, it also assumes that these players are not very professional. Which is one thing I think that an early career at United teaches better than anywhere.

People will always make those accusations, but no one is saying Joey Barton or SWP are going to roll over against City. No one said anything when Danny Simpson saved off the line (twice!) against United earlier in the year.

Bottom line for me is that I expect United to match City's result. If City win, I think United will too. But given the way the season has gone, I wouldn't be that shocked if both teams draw.

One thing I would hope from Ferguson is that he doesn't use this match to try out that Giggs/Scholes/Park combination once more. I might watch the Tottenham match if he does.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Agents or not, it's not going to make a difference. It'll be like Chelsea vs Wigan on the last day of the 2009/10 season, QPR will get a hammering.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Fergie and Mike Phelan are at the Dortmund v Bayern cup final...and Kagawa just scored.

Smoke/fire/etc

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

ay was just going to mention that, I expect that deal to be sorted within 2 weeks.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

So the eve of our trophy crossing town...what a surreal day. Could never have imagined it 4 years ago. Can't even fathom what it must feel like to be a City fan.

I'm going to ignore the City match and just hope our lads play well. Last time I'll get to watch United for 3 or 4 months so will just enjoy it. Hoping to see Cleverley, Nani, Young and Hernandez all get some game time - they're the future of the club.

Anyway, odd season, but one of transition. If we can bring in a few more talents over the summer, we should be as well placed as anyone to take on City's squad. Though, if City invest like I expect them to, I kind of doubt anyone will be near them this time next year. But we're United, people have been writing us off as a forgotten force since 2004. We were supposed to wilt and die when we sold RVN, supposed to crumble under Chelsea's oil dollars. But we have more championships under Abramovich than the chavs, and I've faith that Fergie will do his utmost to ensure that we've more championships than the new oil billionaires.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Damn weve been excellent in the first half but can see Sunderland nicking one. Need another goal early.

Wow. As a wise man once said: Football. Bloody hell.

We did our job and were magnificient today - finishing aside. That's all I could ask from us. Nothing we could do about QPR.

So a trophyless season, but 89 points...not sure how I feel. I look forward to next year I guess, but do hope City let us get at least one or two new players in ;)

Anyone got that gif off Sir Alex celebrating and realizes we didn't score. someone post it please.

Worst way ever, Its like instead of a easy death which we all wanted, we got the Bayern Munich treatment. :((

Had accepted defeat before today, but I said at 0-0 to a friend, I don't like this, i'd prefer it if City were 3-0 up and running away with it, because having hope is far more difficult, especially when it's snatched away from you in the last moments.

Though to be honest, I always expected them to score twice, i'd of backed us in that situation at home too.

Anyway sometimes you have to accept the defeats to enjoy the victories. Hopefully this will give everyone around the club a renewed motivation to win it back.

I didn't believe, until it became 2-1. I had given up last week an was quite content and resigned but the football god's weren't having any of it.

When it hit the 88th minute, my thought's were "surely they can't get two now" :((

Yeah, it was just being so close. The reality of the situation is that City were always going to beat QPR at home - particularly when they were down to 10 men. Anyway, tis done, it's as we expected the moment put that pathetic team sheet out against City. That was the moment they won the league, in reality.

I just hope it teaches the youngsters some lessons. We've not been at our best this season - tentative and ponderous for good chunks of matches. But we're still winners, as shown by being 20 points above hte London clubs (who apparently play better football) and 40 points above the Merseyside clubs. That's an amazing achievement, considering in the last few years we've lost Tevez, Ronaldo, Van der Sar, Scholes (kind of) and replaced them with a lot of young, inexperienced talents.

De Gea, Welbeck and Evans all improved loads this season. The twins, Cleverley and Smalling have been pretty much shafted by injuries, but hopefully will come back after a summer off in good shape. Keep Vida fit, bring in a midfield and a striker and we're in great shape.

Finally, a word for Michael Carrick. Very quietly (as always) I think he's been our best player this year. The only player that was really there all season, dependable and never put in a poor performance. His consistency as the platform on which our success was built.

OOOOPPPPSSSSS.....

It's not the way anyone expected the league to be decided (literally the last minute of the season), even if the result was all but a formality.

Considering many of us thought it would be a transition season we didn't do bad to finish level on points. Think the lessons learned are to be ruthless in front of goal, and to shut games down when ahead.

As the league table doesn't lie, we have to put our hands up and say, well played City. Just don't expect to get too attached to that trophy!

Another month or 2 and we can start getting optimistic again.

...when you're wearing your purple monstrosity at OT.

I hope you're in good Kompany. I can imagine this is a difficult time for United fans. Don't take it to Hart. Yaya gotta keep your head up. It wont be De Jong before you're smiling again. Look for the Silva lining. It may sound a bit Clichy but you'll be okay.

Damn those Scousers, they're getting more and more stupid... GTFO to your thread and be happy, because United lost their title to... oh wait that's not Liverpool? You always fight for title... Don't you? So tell me, on which place did you finish your season? Over United? Yeah, maybe Newcastle Uni... oh wait...
