Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Nope, couldnt' care less who won last night, couldn't care less who win's any game in England, but for me Evans (can't mind his booking), but Spurs left back, skipped past him and he cynically brought him down, Smith actually did say he better be careful.

In my opinion it merited a booking, common sense might have prevailed, but IMHO refs don't use that, if that was a Wolves or Blackburn player they'd be sent off, of that I have no doubt.

It happens an awful lot though

Liverpool v Sunderland, Suarez clean through tripped by Richardson. Surely the easiest thing the ref could have done at Anfield would have been to brandish a red card? Nope Richardson got booked

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yep, it does happen, your are correct.

However I think more than most times, the decisions will always favour the bigger clubs.

Not a Spurs fan chanted 'off off off' not a Spurs player rushed over to demand a sending off and not a United player looked all that worried.

It was an honest attempt to win the ball, but BAE did a trick to switch the ball behind him and Evans fell for it. If that's a yellow card offence, when Ronaldo was in the league United should have won every match by default.

But yes, of course, I've seen yellow's given for every type of foul. Doesn't mean that every type of foul could be a yellow.

Kaboul could have walked for head-brushing Nani - who stayed on his feet. No comment on that then?

Sorry, I'm uber-defensive about this after all the media did last year was highlight every single moment that helped United, and ignored every moment that hurt them. Because it sells papers. Presumably to certain fans...like you?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I don't buy papers, and if I have it's only one's that relate to Scottish football.

Yep, did see the Kaboul incident, and no don't think it was a red card or even a booking, but he did over-react when Nani really did nothing. Ref called it correctly.

And not everyone are like Man Utd charging after refs and trying to intimidate them, some let the refs do their jobs.

Just calling it as I see it.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

We always seem to have Benfica alot in the group stages.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yeah, it's like Real always seem to play Lyon, and Chelsea always seem to play teams I've never heard of.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

 Dunno Beachryan, I'd say we've got one side I've never heard of and it's probably the easiest draw out of every team.

No more signings, I do worry if Anderson gets an injury.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

:D

Get on in there 'arry:

"He [Nasri] could have gone to Manchester United, they wanted him and he wanted to go there, but then Man City came in and offered him more money so he went to Man City. That's how it goes, we have to be realistic. When people get offered the chance to treble their wages, they're going to think about it, anybody would."

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I think we need to buy one more defender for this new season.Looking at the situation, Vida, Rio, Rafa is out...We only have Jones, Smalling, Evra, Fab and Evans as proper defenders in the squad...If 4 of them plays we only have 1 backup defender in the squad? Could be a problem for us.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Were fine defensively, Rio should be back for Sunday if not the week after.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Half of me wants it to be true because I'd love us to slam the door in the face of any money-grabbing mercenary cunt but if it was wouldn't be get done for tapping him up?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Well we're playing some beautiful stuff, DDG makes some excellent saves and then...that...

Hopefully we come out and do it all again second half, don't wanna be giving Arsenal confidence, even with a two goal lead.

EDIT - Well bloody hell.

I'm in shock, we were amazing regardless of how awful Arsenal were.

So often we'dve done nothing in the second half and made it hard for ourselves but not this team. 8-2, wow.

Dunno what you can take from a game like that, except a lot of confidence going forward. Was it a good performance from us, or was it just a terrible Arsenal one? I suspect a bit of both.

Shame for Welbeck, who is likely going to miss the England games. Cleverly is looking more assured each game, but I'm not getting carried away yet.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Not often you win a game by six goals and can say the scoreline flattered the losing team.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Gary Neville saying we'll have to work harder to win 1 or 2-0 vs lesser teams in the season is spot on.

Real strange game.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I dont know how to feel now! I feel confusing rather than happy. Is that Arsenal, our arch rival? I feel sorry for them. I dont want neither citey nor Liverpool to take their place :(

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Good performance, amazing scoreline but the opposition were a farce, obviously we did what we needed but a few worries in terms of losing concentration at times and a few moments of poor defending.

Credit to Young and Rooney especially both were sensational.

Your arch rival is Liverpool and always be.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Respect to ManU, i dont know witch goal is better... but i will vote for first Young goal ... respect

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I know but it is a complicate love-hate relationship. When it comes to a fight, there are opponents you want to see their asses wooped, and other opponents you just hope to see a good fight.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Ashley Young with 2 absolutely brilliant goals and a very good performance even other than that.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yeah he was brilliant but he was up against an all over the place RB. I have mentioned my reservations about Young but he's proven me wrong in the last two games and he's a better player than I probably gave him credit for, hopefully he maintains that kind of form :))

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I think he will.

I'm sure at some point his form like any other player over the season will dip but the guy is quality and for me showed it on a VERY CONSISTENT basis already at Villa and while he's no world-beater, he's definitely Manchester United quality which is something I saw some people question when Fergie bought him much to my surprise really... some weren't excited... some were saying he was overpaid for considering 1 year left.. some said he's just not that good.. I couldn't disagree more. I don't see him as 'special', but he's certainly among the best England's got and had proven himself in my opinion.

Of course it's still early days... but I expect him to do just fine at Manchester United and so far he's doing great. Has had no need for adjustment it seems, just walked in the team and already looks one of the most potent!

Welbeck is just getting better and better as well! Shame about his injury. :(

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Welbeck is a great talent who I've always backed, I think he has much more potential also, he's showing goalscoring traits at the minute but his all round game is potentially amazing

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Totally agree.

He's scoring goals right now but for me that's not what he's about. He'll probably turn out a much better footballer at the end of the day than a goal-getter.

Was discussing with my brother about how he reminds me of a young Thierry Henry but reminds him of a young Andy Cole apparently.

The united link helps with Cole but for me, Welbeck is already probably a better 'footballer' than Cole ever was and on the other hand will probably never end up scoring as many goals.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yeah totally, I think the Henry comparison is fair, he has a bit of Kanu in him also.
