Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Give De Gea chance.

He's learning still, he made some good saves before and after the mistake, he's playing in an unfamiliar team, unfamiliar country without being able to speak the language and he's not even played a home match yet.

The good thing is he's still probably assured of his place for a while so he can get a run of matches and settle in properly.

Granted it shouldn't really excuse the mistakes he's made so far but it's not the end of the world.

Anyways I thought this was gonna be typical of last season away from home, start well (very well in this case) and then we give a goal away and either lose or draw. Thankfully Own Goal had his shooting boots on and we got the result we needed. Again the average age at the end of the game must've been ridiculously low again (Berba being the only one anywhere near 30 or over) so plenty of positives.

Not sure Anderson and Cleverley will work in tougher games, both are too forward thinking and left massive gaps behind them for WBA to exploit but at the same time both had very good games and in a midfield three with Carrick or Fletcher I think they'll work really well.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

De Gea is fine, big talent will make mistakes but hopefully after a season or two they'll be a rare occurrence.

I was quite worried once Rio/Vida went off, I had this feeling of frailty (a bit like Arsenal) as the team was extremely young, Its a massive challenge to throw the kids in as we are doing but hopefully it doesn't effect their confidence when they lose a game and such.

Cleverley and Anderson again showing great potential but we really need an experienced head in their.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

lol nothing wrong with a bit of help, its not our fault that the liverpool beach ball scored in the wrong goal.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

To be fair I was pretty worried about OG's form last year, he really slacked after such a big 9/10.

Credit to Young, he was excellent throughout - Fabio too.

Please please please Fergie just stick with De Gea. Yes, it wasn't great keeping, but there is absolutely no point in taking him out at this point. You stick with him.

Other than his mistake, he was pretty good I thought.

I'm only gonna moan one more time - we need more in midfield. Just not good enough imo. Maybe after a full season together those two will gel, and I'm more than happy to wait for it to happen, but if we want to win this year we need something else.

De Gea already not trusted? to bad..

imo he is great GK.. will prove with time definetly..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

It'd be a mistake not to stick with De Gea, I'm sure he'll turn out to be a great keeper.

I thought Young and Cleverley were excellent. I know it's too early to say, but I think Tom is going to be a great player for us. He has that little something when he moves that reminds me of Scholes. Mind, I'm not saying he'll ever be as good, but he keeps the ball very well and is able to play some excellent one touch passing. It'd be nice to see SAF stick with him against lesser teams. He definitely needs to play his share of games.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I know we have Tottenham first, but I believe that with the FA charging Song with violent conduct, Arsenal will be without him and Gervinho for our match against them. Of course no Fab either, and who knows about Nasri.

Then again, we'll be defending against them with no Rio or Vida...could be a high scoring affair!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

How long are Rio and Vidic out for?!

I thought Rio was out but Vida' would be fine for Spurs. I hope Hernandez gets back to fitness quickly, I think he'll he could go on a bit of a goal spree when he's back fit.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Did anyone see the reserves game last night?
Pogba was immense, especially his pass for Diouf's goal. Can see him featuring in the first team soon if he keeps it up.

Yep, I watched it (sad I know). Pogba was indeed quality, though didn't seem to have the fitness to play out wide. Was seriously limiting his runs in the last half hour.

Arsenal on the other hand were outplayed for 60 minutes, but did waaay better than us in the last 30 mins. Seemed fitter and more willing to run.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Looking more and more like Nasri to MCFC...still desperate for us to sneak in and hijack it, Berba style. Come on Fergie, do some airport kidnapping!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Should be a tough game tonight. Tottenham are obviously well rested, and do have, let us not forget, one of the best starting XIs in the league. Bale/ Lennon against our inexperienced back 4 is a real worry, as is our confidence in what is still not a class midfield.

Predicting a 1-1 or even a 2-1 loss. Which, if it forces Fergie to acknowledge we need a midfielder, would be a good result in the long term.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Getting outplayed here in the second half.

Well, we were for 5 minutes or so.

Lovely goals from Man U, although Spurs ought to chuck it against Man Utd, not won a game in their last 24 competitive matches. What a joke record that is.

There's only 2 (possibly Man City making it 3 now that they have trillions of money, just like Chelsea did those years ago) capable of winning the league, the rest are also-rans.

Goalie looks flappy though.

Do you think Gary Neville will get the hang of the smart board tonight?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

You should be down to 10 men, Evans shoulda walked just there.

FD

For what exactly? Even the City fan Alan Smith and ex-Scouser McManananananam didn't once say Evans should ever have gotten a second yellow. His first was a joke as well.

Stirring the pot perhaps?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Nope, couldnt' care less who won last night, couldn't care less who win's any game in England, but for me Evans (can't mind his booking), but Spurs left back, skipped past him and he cynically brought him down, Smith actually did say he better be careful.

In my opinion it merited a booking, common sense might have prevailed, but IMHO refs don't use that, if that was a Wolves or Blackburn player they'd be sent off, of that I have no doubt.
