Manchester City Thread

Don't worry, we'll just lose to WHU. If we claim top 4 we'll have won 10 of our last 12 matches. Not going to happen.

Oh God I can totally see it happening and I like to think I'm the positive one between the two of us. Hope we don't cock it up. Going another season without CL footie would be a major letdown especially given the fact we've gotten more than our fair share of chances to claim a top 4 spot. Arse not fkin it up for us is a once in a million opportunity to take advantage of the situation. I thought City was going to hate feck them today.

I'm wishing Pellegrini the best by the way. He s been more successful than LVG in his relatively short tenure and has gotten too much shit imho. Hopefully he ll help us. I'm sure his name will be chanted at OT more than it ever was at the Etihad. XD I mean.. How fecking sad and disrespectful is this :

you were in the CL this season just finished in Europa.

MCity and Arsenal fans share the same frustration atm. I don`t know whats worse MCity supporters the few of them leaving in disgust over leaving it too late (Arsenal match should of been a relax one) or Arsene punching w/ his fist in the air at the FT whistle ,and Arsenal has to bring their own security to the Etihad to remove Arsene out banners. Oh, get this away fans fist fighting each other nowadays during matches :R1 Pelligrini was emotional and regardless the amount of ppl present. He knew he did more then most short term. He leaves w/ more experience and finished 2016 w/ a trophy. Godotelli not happy w/ him ,but he`s just a few out of the thousands.

Should be an interesting summer...so much still to be done with City's squad - and that's after having been the biggest spenders this last summer.

I thought Otamendi looked good though, so that's something.

The club has completely misread the fan's feelings towards Pellegrini.

The only reason his job hasn't been under pressure from the fans is, ironically, the spectre of Pep.

This post near enough sums up what myself and many City fans think
I got my only ever Bluemoon ban on the FA Cup final day in 2013 when it was announced Mancini was leaving and Pellegrini was coming in. I was absolutely furious, rather emotional and I went too far and said some things I shouldn't have.

The reason I was so wound up was because I'd waited my whole life for City to be a good football team. We'd had good players in the past but we'd always been the nice guys, the plucky losers.

That team we had from 2010-2013 was full of class footballers. But it also had a relentless drive to win. It was full of big personalities, physically imposing players, winners. The team reflected the manager's relentless drive for perfection. As Graeme Souness said "If you want a football match, they'll out-football you, if you want a fight, they'll out-fight you."

When it was announced we were sacking Mancini I thought it was a colossal mistake. We'd come off the back of 2 brilliant seasons, and one pretty average one. The squad needed refreshing, but finishing second was no disgrace. Ridiculous clubs like Madrid and Chelsea sack managers for finishing second. And then we were added to the list.

The decline in the last two years has been stark. The majority view is now that he's a dreadful manager. The longer he has gone on, the more his inadequacies have been highlighted.

We still have some class footballers, but the drive, the determination to win has gone. On our day we can out-football an average side, but we'll get beaten by a decent one. And we couldn't out-fight a bowl of jelly. The personality of the team reflects the personality of the manager. Dour, insipid, disinterested, nice. The plucky loser once again.

30 odd years of bad habits and losing mentality was completely reversed between 2009 and 2012. It's taken Pellegrini 3 years to completely un do that work.

Perhaps even I didn't think the decline would be as stark as it has been. But I knew we had a winner in charge with Mancini. Someone who would accept nothing but the highest standards. Someone that always strived for perfection, and inspired those working for him to do the same. He might not say hello to the tea lady, but he'd never accept a defeat lying down. We were lucky to have him in charge.

We sacked our Ferguson and appointed our Moyes, and we stuck with him for 3 years. I've apologised for my outburst that day in 2013 and I truly mean it. But in my defence, the reason I was so wound up and carried away that day was because I want was is best for City. We had a winner in charge, who instilled a winning mentality.

I thought the club made a monumental error that day in 2013, and the last two years have cemented that belief more than I could possibly have imagined.

Plenty of people think Mancini had to go, for various reasons. I accept that. But if any positive legacy comes from these last 3 years I hope it's that the club never again make the mistake of hiring a nice guy who takes defeat lying down.

I love it that the club want to play beautiful football, but this is England. Beautiful football is not just passing to feet. It's giving your all, refusing to accept defeat, being brave, defending heroically, winning the midfield battle, knowing you can beat anyone on any given day if you work harder and want to win more.

We must only appoint winners from now on, and we must instil a winning mentality right throughout the club.

The Pellegrini years are almost over now and I hope the club learn from their mistake and never make it again.

Loads of times this season I've been sat there thinking "Otamendi has to be the best CB on the planet. He wins absolutely everything!" ...right before he misses one tackle and we concede as a result.
:PIG:
With the right partner (a covering CB) we may not miss Kompany so much

So you losing to Swansea or some other last minute way that ends up with us getting 4th over you would be a watered down version of justice porn for what happened a few years ago. It is meant to happen.

Rashfooooooooooooord!

Doesn't have the same ring to it as
Aguerooooooooooooooo!

Honestly, if we lose to a Swansea team without Fabianksi, Taylor, Williams, Ki, Sigurdsson, Montero, we deserve a 'Rashfoooooord!' moment...

Arsenal lost to a weaken reserve side Swansea :CURSE: ,but the good news is EUROPA is more exciting then CL , FACup :SNACK: ,WC :CONF: and Euro:COP: all together I heard some say ;)

"Love Cardiff Hate Swansea" Haha but it's still in your hands. You only need a 19-0 win.

We got close today!.... Yeah.. I'm ready for folks to hate us again instead of laughing. Gone are the days ago of the United bad boys :COAT:

Oh well.. Not too concerned if it means more bandwagon fans to jump off. At least it ll be extra sweet if things get better again. If.

Hopefully the games won't just turn into Mou parking the bus all the time.

Both got important transfer windows to sort out before then tho.

Looks like Gundogan is a done deal for us and Zlatan for you.

Both reportedly want Stones.

We want Laporte too tho it may be just a case of one or the other. Hopefully both because I'd like to see Stones being tried in the Busquets role. We're gonna need 5 CBs too with Kompany's injury problems.

:OOOH:
Someone should ask them whoever wrote whether this is the same Dortmund which got knocked out of the Europa by a mid table PL side, and the same City which only got knocked out in the Champions League semi finals by the eventual winners thanks to an OG ;)

I'm sure the bitterness will make up for losing their best players every year :SNACK:

Will be interesting to see who gets their shit together first when we meet at OT early on. Assuming we get our shit together at all.

You'd expect it to take a while longer for Pep to acclimatise to the PL and instil his *cough* philosophy.

Hope we win with Utd getting a red card. :)
