MAG : PS3

Re: MAG (Massive Action Game), PS3

So the 8 man squads will be able to see each other while they're doing they're own missions it seems. I think that will be awesome to glance to your side and see a mate of yours in another squad firing rockets at a tank.

Re: MAG (Massive Action Game), PS3

Except for the fact there are not that many controllable vehicles which is the one thing that really annoys me about the title. I want to be able to pilot the aircraft and I want it to be my responsibility to ensure that I allow my team mates to be parachuted down in the designated area. But I suppose some people may be complete twats and purposefully crash the plane and bail out in the last second, like myself for example!

Yes Battlefield 1943 is coming out in June for £10/1200 MS points.

I hate people who waste a question and ask 'how long has the game been in development'. Who the fuck cares?
-

Good news though - it confirms that everyone starts in 8 vs 8 squads which after a while become 16 vs 16 then 32 vs 32, then 64 vs 64 and then final battle at the end of 128 vs 128. That's 256 players all in one area in one huge battle. So that's put an end to that.

Raven look the best

Although teamwork is not their strongest attribute, they are capable of using complex teamwork to out-perfom the other factions.

Eh?

Re: MAG (Massive Action Game), PS3

plus, if we make a clan, we have to all be the same faction.

- Your PSN friends can only be on your team if they are in the same army as you

Re: MAG (Massive Action Game), PS3

Ed Byrne - Creative Director @Zipper: Yep, you can change over to different factions, but there will be an associated EXP cost

Raven for me too.

Re: MAG (Massive Action Game), PS3

Game Modes:

• Domination (256 players)

- Attackers start scattered along the map edges and move on foot or ride in one of a few transport vehicles

- Defenders must take outer defensive positions to meet the oncoming attackers

- Each defending squad is responsible for holding specific areas of the base

- Attackers must eliminate front line defense emplacements (bunkers, turrets, tank traps)

- Once in the inner base, attackers must take down anti-aircraft batteries and radar sensors

- Destroying things like the anti-aircraft batteries allow the attacking team to launch UAVs

- Attackers must capture and hold objectives and inflict enough damage to the defenders base to win

• Acquisition (128 players)

- Escort style requiring attackers to steal two protoype transports from a rival faction and escape to the extraction poin

• Sabotage (64 players)

- Attackers must infiltrate rival communication facilities and hold two control points at the same time

- Once achieved, a final demolition objective is revealed and must be destroyed to win

• Suppression (64 players)

- Pure infantry battle

- Only mode that does not contribute to the "Shadow War"

Speaking of how your Faction is doing; what is the ultimate end-game point of your Faction 'beating' the other ones for total domination of the Private Military Complex (PMC)?

[Writer's note: He was unable to answer this question (didn't know)] Here's the response from Zipper:
When a faction wins a contract, it resets the scores for that contract. Each contract is handled separately, as if it were a separate tournament. So if Raven wins the battle for Escort maps, the scores reset, awards are given, and the battle starts over. It's an ongoing, rolling competition for each game mode.

Rewards given for each are still under works, but expect more than just bragging rights. There will be personal benefits for soldiers in the faction (such as experience modifiers), as well as benefits that help the faction as a whole (such as increased power for command abilities).

Characters do not reset after each contract is won. No need to restart at level one, as the battle is an ongoing rolling tournament.

There are also rumours of an OPEN BETA like MGO had.

Re: MAG (Massive Action Game), PS3

I'd guess it will either be completely open like the Uncharted beta will be in a few weeks via the PS Store and the Metal Gear Online beta was. Or it will be like the Little Big Planet beta and you apply for a code on Eurogamer and other sites.
